Uhuru says sorry over foul language BY BERNARD MOMANYI Finance Minister Uhuru Kenyatta/FILE NAIROBI, Kenya April 20, 2011 - Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta has now publicly apologised to Kenyans for unsavoury remarks he made at various political forums before he went to The Hague. The Finance Minister said he acted out of provocation following a sustained personal attack by Prime Minister Raila Odinga and that is why he had to respond. "I had a situation which I had to deal and a situation which I felt a particular individual had a lot to do with... mtu anakuita hii, mtu anakuita hii (somebody calls you this, somebody calls you that) you know even if it were you, it reaches a point you say you have to respond," he told professionals from Luo Nyanza at a Nairobi hotel. "Otherwise it will look like what the man is saying is true. So I will say that for those who felt I hurt them, forgive me." "Those who know me really know that I am not prone to that kind of politics, but things sometimes and reach a level you feel they have become too hard," he said. The Gatundu South legislator announced that he would no longer engage in such politics and will instead focus his energies on the country's development. He said he was not worried about the war crime charges he is facing at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, because he has competent lawyers handling the matter. "Definitely my hope and prayer is that where we are now we have the issue (case) we have those people in The Netherlands they will do their business because those are lawyers," he said. Mr Kenyatta is among six prominent Kenyans and a journalist accused of planning or financing the post election violence which broke out in the country soon after the 2007 disputed Presidential elections. Some 1,500 people were killed during the worst violence in the country which also displaced more than half a million others from their homes. The six made an initial appearance at the ICC earlier this month when the charges facing them which include murder, forcible transfer of persons and rape were formally read to them. The other suspects include Head of the Civil Service Ambassador Francis Muthaura, former Police Commissioner Mohammed Hussein Ali and Suspended Higher Education Minister William Ruto. Others are Tinderet MP Henry Kosgey and Radio Presenter Joshua arap Sang. During the Wednesday meeting with Luo Nyanza Professionals, Mr Kenyatta assured them that he was ready and willing to work with all Kenyans irrespective of where they come from. "I am a national leader and my development agenda has no boundaries, I will work with all Kenyans including those from Luo Nyanza. I am even ready and prepared to travel to Nyanza to do development projects," he said. The professionals who met him said were are also willing to support him on his 2012 presidential bid "because we are tired of divisive politics of one man." Mr Onyango Oloo who led the group of professionals to the meeting with the Finance Minister, said Luo Nyanza was open to all leaders who want to tour, contrary to public perception that it is a preserve of leaders from the ODM Party of Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Nyani ni yule yule. In my opinion what UK is doing is just a public relation exercise. Tuju is the cheif architect of this scheme. A majority of Kenyans will agree with me that UK treats the Luo community with alot of contempt & greatly despises them reasons best known to him. If you can recall his words much later after the tribal slur incidence he later in his many rallies went on to say ''mimi sina shida na wajaluo lakini niko na shinda na RAO'' Why didn't he say mimi sina shida na wakenya wowote. Kwani Luos are not Kenyans? Am no luo but to me that hurt so much because there are no lesser citizens in modern day Kenya. What his trying to do is all bull crap he can forget my vote.

That is George Onyango Oloo, a G-7 member and the one lawyer who recently hosted William Ruto in Kisumu. Not to be confused with Jukwaa moderator.
Uhuru's apology smacks of another insult to our intelligence.
Raila never ever mentioned Uhuru's name when he pointed out the dangers of alcohol and drugs to the youth.
And even if Raila mentioned Uhuru in his public rally, is that reason to attack the entire Luo community?
Is that reason to bang tables while on live on mass media? Is that reason to display open hatred against fellow citizens whom you do not se eye-to-eye politically?
Uhuru must understand that there are some things once said cannot just be taken back in.

Is it a case of getting a piece of the pie for the professionals or a clear case of a politician reaching out to his perceived adversaries? I think that it was a case of getting a piece of the pie. Look who was there. Kmdo,I think OO is going to cut you loose as soon as he opens jukwaa pages. He is somewhere in Mombasa now and may be too busy to check the site, but consider yourself gone. hehehehehehehe. Not to worry my friend, OO is going to have a chuckle on this. This is a tried and tested way of getting a few ass lickers to come foward and be paraded as respresentatives of this or that community. It is an insult really. But it is not just Uhuru doing it. They all do it. At least these chaps had a meal at the Hotel and the broke ones not as loaded as the Tujus may have left with bulging wallets. That can go a long way in this hard economic times. So I have no grudge against the chaps but they know they cannot speak for anybody, not even for the stray cats of Kisumu. I would take Uhuru seriously if he was to talk to community leaders, not clowns for hire, and tell them that things can be better. That Luos do not need Uhuru's permission to be Kenyans and to live peacefully in their country. Uhuru may at some point come face to face with the likes of Ndege whose entire family was burnt to ashes by Mungiki in Naivasha. It is not a secret that many people hold Uhuru responsible for that horror. May be it is not the time yet but Uhuru should know every time he repeats his mantra that he was just saving his people and that he will do it again the impression people get is that he, Uhuru, would not hesitate to get a few Luos burnt to ashes if that is what it will take to "save" his people. And one last thing can Uhuru spare the Luos the indignity of him having to go around the country telling people that he has no problem with Luos. Why single out Luos? Are they some kind of lepers that people should be afraid of. If Uhuru has no problem with Luos he doesn't have to go aroudn the country saying so, the Luos will know. The fact that he has to keep repeating that says volumes.

These guys just dont get it. Ati Nyanza under development is directly attributable to bad politics. And that poverty is more visible because of bad politics?
How come this bad politics does not count when it comes to paying taxes? How strange the bad politics does not count when making allocations from the exchequer for water, education, health and other social services?
Tuju and Oloo have all the right to go and sell themselves in Nyanza, but why must they do this badmouthing other elected leaders or blaming voters for making their choices freely? This borders on provocation and next time you call a rally and start talking like this, let's pray things do not turn nasty.

Phil, AO and others, I don't think that Uhuru understands the gravity of his insults. And bozos like Tuju (Ralph my son) do all they can to help cover Uhurus ass courtesy of Kibaki .
If Uhuru has no problems with the luo how come he is still singling them out and saying that he is ready to "even" work with them. What does he mean.
Then he goes on saying that he has stopped politics of insult but goes a head via proxy to state that "we are tired of divisive politics of one man". This makes me wonder what the point of the meeting was. I thought it was about reconciliation.
Rejected leaders like Tuju do not represent anybody anywhere in Nyanza province.

The fact that he has to keep repeating that says volumes. Got me scared for a moment...The video is now available: kmdoI am glad you are relieved. But I wish I never saw that video. I mean it. The insult in it is quite breath taking. I don't know what they think they are achieving but all I saw was Uhuru still lecturing Luos with the help of known hired hands. I think the Luos know who Tuju is is. I sincerely hope that his good mobile health initiative is still going strong. My sister with her family live in Uyoma. The girl used to like the mobile health idea and services. I hope it is still going strong for the community. I mean god forbid that Tuju took the mobile health truck with its services to his new work station. He wouldn't do that, would he? I don't think they need it there. Tuju is supposed to be working with Kibaki on something. Does anybody know? I think he is Kibaki's advisor on national cohesion! He seems to be doing a very good job my Kibaki's standards. Congratulations. That video is a complete insult to the so called "Luo Nyanza". Apparently their problem is because they have not supported certain people. Goodness me. Do the so called "Luo Nyanza" pay taxes as Kenyans? If they do, do they need to beg Tuju and some George Onyango Oloo plus a bunch of clowns to beg Uhuru, to spit some money in Nyanza for development in Nyanza? And this is now the new found solution for poverty! Please spare the people the nonsense. They know better and they are doing a lot of without this toxic caricature. At any rate Uhuru seems to be in very goof company. Good luck. What really pissed me off is Uhuru saying in the video that he had enough and had to respond. Obviously this was in response to his now infamous tribal slur speech in Gatundu. Uhuru says in his speech that he was provoked many times my some "mtu" and he had to respond. Uhuru says if his response was offensive to a community then he apologizes. Personally I think we should let the tribal slur thing go. Hopefully Tuju and co were not subjected to immediate inspections at the door to verify their manhood. hehehehe. That would be funny. I have no idea what they would do to the women in the delegation if such criteria was official, but I will leave it there and accept Uhuru's apology. Let.s move on. That is good. But this is my question; If only one "mtu" was throwing mud at Uhuru, why did Uhuru think that he has to throw mud at a whole community to respond to that "mtu". You notice I am not using the other terminology Uhuru used. Why insult a whole community if your fight is with one individual? I have said many times. If Uhuru thinks he has problems with Raila and/or his family then go deal with them. Why bother everybody else and then offer ridiculous excuses. And then you come up with these cheap clowns as the representatives of the community you want to talk to. You must think Luo folks and Kenyans in general are idiots. I don't think they are. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. Time will tell.

Young Onyango Oloo saw an opportunity to make a quick buck and took it within a twinkling of an eye. Didn't we see him being paraded during the "homecoming" rally at Uhuru Park as one of the "leaders" from Nyanza? One thing about him is ceratin, he will be a very rich man before the end of the year after milking all these fat political cows for all their worth.
As for Tuju, too bad he was on the wrong party and got swept away by ODM euphoria- sadly a party that's now just an empty tribal (s)hell. His development record in Rarieda was great and more leaders like him are desperately needed all over the country. Even his political enemies and tribal goons all over the internet don't have a bad word to say about him.
On Jomo Jnr, he should concentrate on his Gatundu backyard which is ironically the poorest in Kiambu County despite bequeathing this nation it's first president. Unlike the rest of Central, Gatundu's poverty could be worse than that of Luo Nyanza that Uhuru was whining about. I drove there recently and I've never seen so many mud huts and sadly so many jigger infested people wasting away thanks to cheap illicit brew. So Uhuru's got his work cut out for him and should thus not preach water while he drinks, er... Tusker!

Greetings from Mombasa.
No one is cutting you loose despite your mischievously titled thread.
Despite our names, this Onyango Oloo is a study in contrast with his younger more right wing namesake.
That Onyango Oloo has also almost got me lynched in Nairobi and Kisumu a half a dozen times.

Hey good people,
No amount of apology will save Uhuru from his foul mouth! In almost ALL communities in Africa, if there is one area which is a NO GO ZONE it is hurling insults at a person's wife, mama, community or the above three. Some people would literally kill you for that. The rule of engagement is, direct your insults at the person of your attack only. NEVER incorporate his wife, his mother or his community in the insults! This is simply unforgivable.

Though I ca understand the offense taken by ethnic Luos, comments here lead me to think that there is simply nothing the Deputy Prime Minister can do or say to obtain "forgiveness". There is obviously more in these feelings of hurt than what he said in the peace rallies held before the trip to Hague. I also read "guilty as charged" on the Naivasha tragedy, is there no place for the due process when it comes to Hon. Kenyatta?

You just need to see where and how Uhuru's apology comes for your to appreciate that this is not a genuine apology. Nyanza will live on whether Uhuru likes it or not. These are citizens who pay tax and have much a right as citizens of this country as those from where he comes from, indeed from all over Kenya. Why cant Uhuru just market himself and sell his own strong points instead of always invoking the name of Raila and lumping it with an entire community? This is the tragedy of misusing public positions. You make the bed you lie on it.

I would like to urge participants of this thread,to let this guy fry in his own fat. Like many I just can't understand how some can defend a full grown man believed to be of sound mind when he insults peoples mothers, attacks a community's cultural practices, banging tables with rage at the Kenyan public ati simply because he's annoyed with one guy. Personally am inclined to believe that this guy is drunk when saying some of these things he says, halafu baadaye am sorry I was pushed to the wall,oh nilikuwa nimesukumwa.NO SISI SIO WAJINGA!!!

Jukwaa Members:
I am a bit perplexed. Some of you are still contacting me privately to confirm or deny if I am the GEORGE Onyango Oloo who led a delegation of Nyanza professional and political leaders to meet with Uhuru Kenyatta.
For the last time, I am not that person.
I do hope this puts this matter to rest.
