Miguna Mugana announced his candidature for the governor of Nairobi in September. Miguna declared he intended to run as an independent candidate and would seek to tackle unemployment, eliminate graft, lower crime rate and construct "the largest" solid waste management system. Miguna also promised to rehabilitate roads and the railway network and solve the housing crisis in Nairobi. Here's a refresher: www.standardmedia.co.ke/?articleID=2000067693&story_title=Politics:%20Miguna%20eyes%20Nairobi%20governorshipI say Miguna's bid is the biggest FALLACY since Mukaru Nganga run for president. Let's stick to writing tabloid books about the prime minister.

At least Miguna x2 has promised us something. Shouldn't we be comparing this with what the others have promised? Or will we elect the others because they are in the right party, even though they have not promised anything?

A rather arrogant but eloquent Miguna was on he K24 governors debate last night A gubernatorial debate, especially one for the biggest county in Kenya, is definitely not a place to dramatize courtroom litigation process. Miguna emerged as one who is arrogant, aloof and obsessed in 'proving' that those who had worked in public offices before were not fit to be Nairobi governor. Miguna was ignorant of the fact that this race is also a political race. Even some callers commented on Miguna's sitting style which many found quite objectionable. When Miguna made a wild allegation about ghost workers at city hall and talked of a billion shilling wage bill, it was Kisia who tabled facts and proved on live TV that clearly Miguna did not have facts about what was going on in NCC. Miguna said he will completely eliminate grand corruption which he believe is the single impediment to service delivery in the city/county. Miguna also strangely believes only those who fought against single party rule and reforms can qualify to be governor of Nairobi. Miguna did not provide any viable solution to the problem of employment, water supply, housing, solid waste management, public transport, traffic chaos, etc. Neither did he unveil any progressive agenda that would drive the economy of Nairobi county forward. On the other hand, Kisia, Kidero and Muriuki clearly had viable visions and in my opinion need to debate further, in a more professionally moderated talk show, so residents of Nairobi can make informed decisions about who they want to be their governor. It is a pity Jomnah Mbaru was missing here. I would have wanted to listen to his agenda too.

I think what came out is that Miguna Miguna will not handle the Nairobi problems with kid gloves. I like his attitude. We need more with this attitude to solve the myriad of problems bedeviling Nairobi.

It's better you ask what the ODM and more specifically Raila Odinga stands for instead of selecting convenient one-liners to drive an argument.

I am sorry Phil.....but is this not the ODM mantra as well when it comes to the leadership of Kenya? Kweli nyani haoni..... I caught the gubernatorial debate halfway. Waititu had a couple of brain freeze moments & was clearly out of his depth. Muriuki even practically called him ignorant inspite of his rising from councillor to MP & now gunning for Governor. They need to narrow down the field & get a better moderator as well as improve their studio set. K24's shot at debates wasn't well organized.

Miguna is best in the court rooms rather than politics i feel he has misplaced priorities, waititu is a a lost sheep in the middle of no where they should leave the race to veterans

I think that we need a better moderator. The one here is making the most noise and simply unable to manage time allocation between the candidates. I could not listen past the second clip in youtube

I could not listen past the second clip in youtube I listened to the entire debate, the heckling not withstanding. The biggest joker in there to me, was Evans Kidero. For a nan of such immense knowledge and experience, a lot is expected of him. The fellow came out lacking in all respects and expectations. Kisia has the right stuff, I guess due to his involvement in the running of the city, but he never explained why he thinks he will be different as governor. He will also need to style up, you cannot afford to go personal and show such raw anger in such fora. He was obviously Miguna's main target for obvious reasons I suppose. Miguna on the other hand, has the language and a very easy way with words. He will however neef to address the real problems in very practical terms. It is not enough to know what the constitution says, but how to actualize those provisions in a such a difficult and confused atmosphere such as Nairobi. Waititu understands the common man's language. These are the types who can easily win this thing. But has no any progressive agenda for building a modern city, which Nairobi should be.

Mwalimumkuu, I like how bipartisan you are with this issue. I never understand this question and answers? the Youth the Youth? and MM calling university students illiterate, that was hilarious, for some who went to school in Canada, you would think he knows how to campaign or not to say things off the cuff. He needs a good campaign team and a good ear. On Evans Kidero, the word on the street there is come scandals, Waititu is about to launch soon. The Governor seat is btwn Kidero and Waititu, the rest are manaba's.. [quote author=mzee1 Waititu understands the common man's language. These are the types who can easily win this thing.
