raila is engaging the gema on three fronts which i find compelling. he has won the heart and minds of the influential elites and elders, the wealthy kikuyus, the njonjos,dr mwangi, sam macharia, stanley githunguris, mungas, njenga karumes while at the same time engaging the intellectuals like dr kithure kindikis. then there are the youths and ordinary kikuyus he is winning over through a conscious mobilisation through such groups as friends of raila and kiukuyus for change. now, that is not to say that the coast is clear. there is still a segment of influential, power wielding kikuyus who are pulling all stops to scuttle and frustrate this gains with vicious propaganda and anything that can maintain the status quo. this is the group which according to the star story, convinced tuju to resign his job at the op and run for presidency against raila. siasa, kweli, ni moto moto You forgot to mention that he is also marrying off his sons there for a Muthoni-wa title that would be crucial in his campaigns.

mwalimu mkuu?
tuonane ijumaa ;D

How do you marry your son to somebody? Most Kenyans do not do arranged marriages. In this day and age it is actually possible for two people who like each other and become lovers to actually get married on their own free will. That is not a radical move anymore. At least as far as I know.

the wag pictured above has some interesting yarns : www.nation.co.ke/oped/Opinion/Peter+Kenneth+is+Railas+best+bet+for+running+mate/-/440808/1283642/-/x7mi9pz/-/index.htmlbelow are some of what i would imagine are nuggets from his regular feed: . In fact, I am sure Mr Mudavadi may care less. Under the new Constitution, the Governor of Nairobi – which Mr Mudavadi may wisely choose to contest – is much more powerful than Deputy President. .I think of the three possible picks – Ms Karua and Mr Muite being the others – Mr Kenneth may draw the largest bloc of Kikuyu vote for Mr Odinga.Mr Odinga may sell him as the next “muthamaki-in-waiting”This carrot may be enough to sway the Kikuyu Mr Odinga’s way.So, for today, I am betting on Mr Kenneth as the most viable running mate for Mr Odinga. . . One “non-Kikuyu Kikuyu” is Internal Security minister Prof George Saitoti. But he’s too passé and “old Kanu school” to be interesting

news hound ibrahim oruko of the star newspaper informs me that saitoti has sh 2 billion war chest to mount his presidential campaign. that's the lead story.
cant wait the next opinion poll on what kenyan voters percieve of him. again, saitoti's entry seems to be widening the emerging confusion in the essential house of mumbi. the agikuyu may be spoilt for choice but again, they are on the tenterhooks, as confused as the uncertainty of 2012 elections portends.
i would imagine the presidential aspirants from the kikuyu community that would make the difference is one who not only has the cash but the discernment to get the wild card that is the running mate who must be from either nyanza or western.
kweli siasa ni moto moto.

nereah, Saitoti unlike Musyoka has come a conclusion that the so called KKK/ G7 axis are not interested in accommodating him. They don't even take him seriously. He has therefore decided to go it "alone". But don't for a moment be mistaken that the house of mumbi is confused. Behind the madness there will be order, eventually. These guys will come together in the end. For now everyone is jostling to be "the one". All ODMers must roll up their sleeves for its going to be a fight between ODM and the KKK/G7/G3 or whatever. I'm already in the gym pumping for 2012.

Apart from Muthaura, Saitoti is a man who is very close to Mzee Kibaki and his kitchen cabinet. The problem with Saitoti is that he hopes unlike Moi that Kibaki will endorse him and campaign for him. Extremely rich but Saitoti is simply not a politician. One who perenially struggles to get elected to parliament and one who does not have the political skills to mobilise grassroots.

grumpy george probably hasn't figured out that his billions won't get him the presidency even if nominated by pnu and toshwad by kibaki . how about trying for senator or mp prof? anyway it's his democratic right let him try his luck and the people will surely decide.

Shikamoo Bi mkubwa.. ;D Hebu tupe taarifa of the goings-on in regards to this KANU thing. Just like you, I was wondering why does he have to 'double-back' to KANU...kwani hivyo vyama vengine vinkuaje tena? And then this.... PNU principals decide on rules....By Gakuu Mathenge PNU leaders Vice-President, Kalonzo Musyoka, Internal Security Minister, George Saitoti, and Finance Minister Uhuru Kenyatta will on Tuesday approve joint nomination rules that would lead to two of them being knocked out of the presidential race. The trio is also expected to address a joint press conference at the Alliance headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, to launch a recruitment drive. The recruitment is expected to culminate in grassroots and national party elections early next year. The participation of the three will be the ultimate seal of their commitment to walk into 2012 as a team. Last month, the trio signed a joint protocol witnessed by President Kibaki at Diani Beach Hotel at the Coast, and committed themselves to joint nominations to pick the Alliances flag bearer for the 2012 General Election. www.standardmedia.co.ke/InsidePage.php?id=2000048494&cid=4&ttl=PNU principals decide on rules Jamaa kwani yuko upande gani? salaam kaka titchaz na wezangu wapendwa huko ughaibuni
the star informs me that uhuru has agreed to step down as the chairman of the kenya african union, kanu.moi name is being invoked.
kanu has meanwhile emasculated all the powers of the secretary general and concentrated the power to the chairman who will be the sole party spokesman and convenor of meetings.
interesting to note that among the internal reforms in kanu is the party constitutional provision that allows for pre and post election coalition.
i will be engaging some nairobi knowledgeable insiders to understand what this means for kenya in 2012.

I think it is not entirely wrong for Nyongo to hand him a public appointment. ODM is a party of tolerance and not a party that carries political differences to matters public. Officially Kigen merely offers professional services to Ruto just as Kemboy does to Henry Kosgey. Both have provided professional services to ODM as a party and there is nothing wrong with ODM giving them public appointments. Mzee Keitany has an axe to grind with Ruto and group, but he must also appreciate that public positions are for all Kenyans and not just for ODM supporters only.

I happened to have turned out last night to console Hon. William Samoei Ruto who was painfully undergoing depression caused by looming ICC rulling & salso from the frustrations from UDM. Even though the likes of Kittuny weren't comfortable with my visitation, my dear friend Ruto only asked me if I was genuinely concerned by his fate or I was a spy. After we exchaged a few, I was welcomed in and we actually had a good time.
I guess Hon. Ruto was much at ease with me beacuse unlike many, I'm one of the few who thought that ODM as party did nothing or less to show solidarity with accused party members; Kosgey & my friend Ruto. We did talk about it and I assured him that all these have come to pass and that a good news awaits him in the coming days.
The message I had gone to deliver to Hon. Ruto was very clear and relieving!! The ICC judges aren't gonna send him for trial. He couldn't believe it, so he asked " what does that mean?" I told him the voice from above was at peace with his person and that's why charges against him will not be confirmed.
The rest of the evening went pretty well... he made a promise to me that if my message turns out to be true in the next few weeks, he'll donate his green range rover sport car to me for my campaigns.

the star has gone to town with a story that musalia mudavadi, the presumptive running mate of agwambo, is causing jitters among the raila loyalists. as usual, i ask around and together with happenings in the political plane, i would make my deductions. away from the mudavadi's mojo, there is the regrouping of the g7, the return of george saitoti and mzee kibaki's shaffling of the deck with the rise of kimemia. the hague confirmation ruling i may surmise offers nothing new, not even a carthasis despite what we may want to percieve as a new breadth of life on the g7. as able and brilliant minds in jukwaa would concur, the g7 is not a threat to odm for the very reason that it is not an organised political movement strictly in matter of speaking. we don't know therefore cant even interrogate its ideology, aspirations and vision for kenya. looking at it, the cynical may be forgiven for mistaking it for a death celebration(oxymoron right there!) in traditional luo called tero buru characterized by heroics and diversionary antics. those who claim to know who i have sought their opinions before penning this here in the sultry weather of nairobi avers that the return of george saitoti is more worth of attention to odm than the drama of g7.there is also the gracious lady that i adoringly refers to as apondi with her flower party and also runs like raphael the tuju and wajakoaya. saitoti for one identifies with a political formation, is open to scrutiny, sits pretty unlike other presidential wanabes like uhuru kenyatta and ruto who by the day risk the ban from the yet to be activated office that supervises the political parties. uhuru says he is in kanu to stay and there is no indication that he is intent on revamping the party as per the last kanu meeting resolutions. was he the raila's camp choice for presidential candidate in 2001 fore the2002 elections and is he the man odm should watch against in 2012ruto's kusema na kutenda political machine appears to be a none starter given that six months into august elections,it has no known office bearers nor grassroot officials. that leaves us with kalonzo the musyoka's wiper party that has had all the time and golden opportunity to re-energize but appears rudderless, ditto eugene's wamalwa's new ford kenya and jirongo's kaddu( or is it udm). what we may want to call as a formation of g7, appears to be intent on doing what raila odinga experimented with with the rainbow alliance that led to the narc government. but circumstances and variables then which i wont delve into because of time wont work to the favour of g7. it may be argued that the very reason that g7 lacks a raila may be a plus and guarantees its shelf life but i disagree given that g7 is premised on the if scenarios. one may want to know the place of kibaki in his succession, whether he is indeed a factor and can swing the votes or he is a lame duck president.answer to this is in the all important question: what is kibaki's constituency ? to the crux of the matter, odm is the party to beat and bears the pressure that goes with a defending champion.for purposes of this dialectic, i would restrict myself to the internal democratic challenge in odm and how it informs or is informed by the extra-odm affairs. first, i would hazard to say that odm is a victim of its success and in a way faced with dilemma that other per-eminent nationalist democratic movements in africa have faced. i would not judge the party harshly given that it operates in a hostile political environment where the levers of state powers are adversarial in use by competing interests. a case in point is the recent party elections where the judiciary was condoning to the chagrin of observers actors who rushed to court to either stop, overturn or confirm exercises that are strictly speaking a political parties act issues. odm has therefore been exercising caution to ward off any conflagration or fallout for instance, the unpopular incumbent mps but who are crucial to he party against the popular parliamentary aspirants. musalia mudavadi has been on the campaign trail in what is obviously a response to pressure from his core constituency and to some extend, incentives from outside forces who make him believe that he has political life outside odm. the siasa moto moto bit of this is that mudavadi is indeed acceptable to some g7 as a compromise candidate and to saitoti as a running mate. but reality is that he lacks a sound ethnic base and fact is raila is more popular than him in western province. to be continued.
