The intrigues are not about to end just yet, so it appears. Now the newly constituted CIOC cannot agree on the chair and the vice-chair, something that I for one thought would be a mere formality. I thought it had been agreed in principle that Hon. Abdikadir would be the chair and he would be deputised by Hon. Ababu Namwamba. If such apparently mundane issues like constituting the CIOC and electing it chair and vice-chair are already generating so much friction, what is going to happen when it comes to enacting legislation on issues like land. It certainly looks like we are in for a roller coaster ride in the implementation of the new constitution.

PNU already has the Leader of Government Business in the House who also doubles as chairperson of the all-important House Business Commitee. In nominating madam Sophia Abdi, ODM actually did PNU a favour because PNU had already removed Wavinya Ndeti from its list of nominees and therefore the gender threshold could not be met until ODM sacrificed for PNU. It is now PNU's turn to return a favour. PNU's AbdiKadir was the immediate former Chairman of the PSC. It is only fair that ODM, as a majority party, elect their own Ababu Namwamba as Chairperson on the CIOC and PNU nominates a female member to deputize Ababu. However, given that ODM was 'foolish' enough to nominate a proponent of NO campaign, and those who have been a persistent internal opposition within the party, it is highly like that Lucas Chepkitony will vote with PNU to deny his own party, unless he has finally seen the light. Let's wait and see.

Phil Without appearing to change goal posts, were not the names of Abdikadir and Namwamba agreed to loang ago at a coalition parliamentary meeting where the statement was read by Uhuru - and this included agreeing that the leadership would be Abdikadir as chair and Namwamba as deputy? It is clear who is changing the goalposts.....

Precisely!! So why is ODM moaning about it - this has been in the public offing for about a month. And heck, this Abdikadir guy has a proven record, granted the PSC did mess up in a way and Kenyans had to be rescued by the CoE, but I do not see anyone doing a better job. It is time for ODM to put the country first in THIS case and quit this puerile political pouting.
