One of PANUA's strategy has been to fragment ODM and Isolate RAO; e.g Splitting away the Kalenjins thru WSR, trying to wedge out Luhya-Land thru Wamalwa, the Coast thru Balala and Northeastern thru Duale. ODM can also turn the tables by applying the same medicine. So, go for the progressives in PNU Land. Why not continue Infiltrating PNU. Be preemptive and take the fight to them. Guys the nomination saga was won because ODM used intelligent tactics like writing to the UN. That caught PNU pants down. This should be one of many strategies going forward. Lets set the pace and not vice versa. i think you are welding issues here that need not be first - contrary to popular belief, jukwaa is not really pro ODM but more of anti-PNU or more specifically anti-status quo and more of pro-reforms where reforms target past ills. a handful of people on this board call it activism (and with disdain too). truth is that there are some ODM leaders that will not believe the hostility jukwaa will unleash if they too turn out to be the typical status quo adherents. as job would say - watch this space 2nd ODM does not need to ride the back of karua to contain the ODM rebels - that would not only demean karua's aspirations and ODMs integrity or whatever may be left of it, but also continues to perpetuate the culture of political deceit if you want to campaign for karua, do it from an honest and independent standpoint and not as a means to get ruto or the rebels or PNU. ODM does not need to go that route let karua's campaign be on merit and lastly, many of us in ODM still recall her defending the very people who have now cut her loose. the questions i have at this point in time moving forward are a) apart from mungatana, the heavyweights in her party including some newbies were absent on this fairly significant day - what does that tell the electorate in terms of mobilisation of home (party NOT tribal) resources b) interrogating history - the two most intransigent individuals during the serena negotiations (ruto and karua) have broken ranks with the parties that they so vigorously defended and both cite some form of betrayal, how can she (and by extension ruto) demonstrate its betrayal by the party and not the other way i.e they are too headstrong and unwilling to seek middle ground positions and are too hard headed (its their way or the highway as people often say) c) she is already playing the gender card and that is fine too, why is she pulling this out way so early and not calling on her vast experience?

At the moment in the kenyan Political Landscape ODM is the most pro-reform vehicle that exists today. That is why I still identify myself with it. On the other hand Jukwaa is a board with members primarily driven by an enhanced reform Agenda. That is where the ODM and Jukwaa concur in my opinion. On this point I disagree with you but leave it at that. There is a difference in riding Karua's back as ODM and coalescing common reform interests with Karua and by extention NARC or pro Reform PNU's with the Ultimate goal of achieving the desired reform structures e.g implementation of the constitution, IEBC e.t.c For example the CJ, AG nomination saga was won by reformist because we all came together. I find that you and I should ask each other what do we really want to happen in Kenya. Then ask how do we achieve that and in the process identify means and partners in order to get there. Some may call it coalition of the willing some may call it coalition of purpose. So if am ODM and I have a pro-reform agenda why should I not join hands with someone fighting the same impunity enemy like I am. If Martha can give Uhuru a run for his money, take the reform agenda to Central and many other places, that saves my resources as an ODM partisan even if I don't support Narc or Karua for that matter. Ultimately the biggest price in the Tent is not deceit but defeating Impunity. The difference between you and me is not our Agenda , it could be the strategy we implore to driving it to succession. By the way I am not campaigning for Karau. Instead I see her as an asset in the fight against Impunity. I also recall dear brethren. But I would rather focus on the fight we have today and the tougher one that we have tomorrow. Yes she is partly responsible for the mess that we have in Kenya but at least in comparison to almost 98% of all politicians she realized that she made á mistake and was bold enough to say F&/$& U MK and status Quo. And she is still doing it to UK et al. She supported the constitution just like U and me but unlike WSR. She supports ICC/ Hague just like you and me. But Unlike WSR and UK! She is fighting Impunity just like U and me. But Unlike WSR and UK! And in the process just like the majority in ODM or in JukwaaSecondly, that the constitution was patched in a way that the Status quoits are having difficulty in misusing it is in part an achievement of Martha Karua whether you like her or not. Just like ODM and Jukwaa , there are always wolfs among the sheep. And the earlier they are exposed and ridden off the better. ODM also needs some showering. Don't you think so? Surely, there is a difference between the two. One is driven by self preservation and the other maybe by reform. MARTHA FRIGHTENED BY OCAMPO SUSPECT GICHUGU MP Martha Karua yesterday sensationally claimed that her life is in danger for not towing the line on Central Province politics. Karua, while issuing a personal statement in Parliament, claimed that some members of the Ocampo Six had publicly ordered politicians from Central Kenya to toe the line or face the consequences. Without directly mentioning names, Karua said one of the Ocampo Six who is a Cabinet minister issued the threats during a rally in Murang’a on March 26. She said the politicians during the rally uttered words threatening to injure her, her family and her supporters and linked the utterances to last Saturday’s attack of her campaign manager in Kirinyaga.“This makes me fear not just for my safety but for the safety of members of my family, my supporters, and my friends,” said Karua. During the Muranga rally Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta was made a Kikuyu elder. The ceremony was held just before Uhuru and the other five suspects left for The Hague to answer summonses issued by International Criminal Court over the 2007-08 post-election violence. Yesterday a close associate of Uhuru declined to comment on Martha's allegations. Karua told Parliament that the attackers broke into her campaign manager Emily Wanja’s home on the night of April 23. The attackers injured Wanja and stole a few items including her vehicle which was recovered the following day. Karua said the attack was not an ordinary crime saying it could be linked to the threats made during the Murang’a rally.“The attack on Emily Wanja, my key supporter, is it a coincidence, or is it the beginning of political thuggery?” asked Karua. Karua said if anything happened to her, her family or her supporters, the first suspects would be those politicians who attended the Murang’a rally. The former Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister accused the police of failing to investigate the threats issued during the Murang’a rally. Karua said she was reviewing the video clips of the rally before making a formal complaint with the police. She said there was a deliberate plan to deny government services to her Gichugu constituency and cited police vehicles. She claimed the denial was intended to facilitate political thuggery. Karua has declared she will stand for President in 2012 in competition with Uhuru. At the Murang'a rally Uhuru warned that leaders who divide the Kikuyu will be flushed out and dealt with.“We should not be afraid to be called Kikuyus. All of us should follow our muthamaki (great leader) Kibaki. None of these leaders here would have made it to Parliament in 2007 if they did not support Kibaki. Now they pretend they made it to Parliament on their own. When Kibaki says something or shows the direction to follow, they are the first ones to contradict him. The first person to betray us to others is one of us. I want to tell all the leaders here that if anyone of them fails to toe the line, they should know that their politics is over,” Uhuru said in Kikuyu. Murang’a is the home area of Planning assistant minister Peter Kenneth, considered a potential rival to Uhuru. Hopefully, we share the same ideals. yes indeed, we share the same ideals. excellent point by point response and generally speaking you raise a lot of good points so i wont spend much time on the issues i may not be in agreement with incidentally - these ideals are shared by a large percentage of kenyans too but as you rightly point out, the chasm is created due to difference in strategy a few years back while discussing this very topic with some friends i raised the same issue that our major problem is in the strategy out of our challenges if you take to the streets of kenya whether urban (nairobi, mombasa) or deep in some village, and ask any kenyan what it is that ails the society, they will enumerate each challenge one by one and perhaps even provide the genesis or history of the problem and a clinical description to amazing depth on how some of these challenges have totally has messed up the country. of course they will also point out strategies that have greatly benefited the community or country in general across the board you will find unanimity in problem description perhaps with different flavors and/or emphasis. in fact if you leave it at that point you will get the impression that not only are kenyans very knowledgeable but they are also very resilient, accomodating, perhaps too passive and generally supportive of each other even while suffering under such a burden for so long but ..... the moment you ask ... for solutions, this is where all hell breaks lose. groups and individuals sticking to their guns (literally). machettes are purchased, terror squads and gangs are commissioned adn unleashed. etc why? because my daddy he bigger n' yours. groups and individuals are so determined to push through their version of solutions and in the process trample over everyone else's rights, interests etc. matusi left and right, negative propaganda, etc which as you know is the only effective way to ensure only the views of a certain group are employed at the expense of all others what is important is to provide or create an environment in which diversity in provision or debating the cocktail of solutions does not necessarily lead to conflict whether political, policy or physical in terms of violence and general fall out. kenyans in general are very sensitive when their proposals are rejected and the more "senior" they are in any particular setting they are in, the more abrasive and intransigent they become or belligerent with their "solution" literally ramming it down the throats of any dissenter. jukwaa in many ways leads the pack in allowing intellectual discourse but we still have our fair share of mad-men in the marketplace. it would be nice to explore and critique divergent strategy without resorting to machettes. of course there are some deadly e-machettes and e-daggers let loose once in a while. anyway my point is, i follow the strategy you are putting forward, and in my mind, the gist of it makes sense, there are some parts of it which are a political risk which have to be fully appreciated. martha karua, under the right environment is an excellent technocrats (develop policy) etc and demonstrates excellent proficiency with the tasks she performs i support karua for many possible key roles in kenyan leadership, but as of this moment in time do not support her for the presidency. but i do respect her bid for the same, but if there was a run-off between say her and ruto or uhuru, you know where my vote will be. anyway, today its now 473 days towards that historical First elections after the promulgation of the new constitution, a lot can happen between now and then.

What else is new? Banking on Mugabe at this time is political suicide for any pretended Kenyan leadership. It is like banking on Hosni Mubarak, Laurent Koudou Gbagbo, Muammar Gaddafi and the likes. It will not pay off for the merchants of impunity in Kenya which worships these failing entities. Any Kenyan leadership backing failing dictatorships in Africa will fail That is my take. adongo.

She is an extremist. During Martha's reign in PNU, she was like St Paul before his conversion into becoming Jesus' disciple. Just like Paul who was a fierce and outrageous persecutor of the new 'sect' (Christianity), so is Martha who was so boisterous against ODM during the election and post election time. At that time, she wasn't a reformer,but now, she is purporting to be one. She is just an opportunist. To date, I have never forgotten the blow Martha dealt to ODM through her unrelenting fight for a cause she now regrets. If anything, she exacerbated the post election woes by continuing to take very strong and skewed political positions. Sasa, how can I trust such a personality. As far as elections are concerned, Martha and Kalonzo will never see my Vote. NEVER! Na tuko wengi Ruto, I can forgive, lakini hapana Martha na Kalooser And by the way, when 2012 campaigns come, the ODM Machine will tear and puncture Martha so hard, that even the few gains she had made among former ODM supporters will quickly diminish.

I have come to learn the hard way even in my personal life what Maya Angelou professes; "The first time someone shows you who they are, believe them."also from the same heavy weight; "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." from the link you provided, this tirade by ruto on karua kind of explains the problem with karua
she was way too involved and in fact the key pillar in defending the kibaki deception
that she was slighted in appointment of judges and that that was the proverbial last straw that made her resign and "return" to reformist ways maybe good for showbiz, but does not erase her part in propping up the system and ensuring that the regime got another 5 year round to do more of the same
but yet ironically at the referendum, karua was a solid green and ruto a solid red. these two characters like i said earlier, they join your boat, immediatley want to take ownership/leadership, will swing and wildly rock the boat, if you dont enjoy the ride and stop them, they drill holes in the boat and jump onto another boat and repeat the process.
if you want to spend all your life living on a roller-coaster, these are the leaders you may want to consider to elect. they represent extremeeism that bolsters their egos.
karua may have a lot more moderates on her side and she can be a lot more reasonable too. ruto on the other hand is being egged on by joy riders in for the thrill. seems like that is also the same type of crowd following uhuru around. at one time it was called euphoria

There you are on YouTube practically accusing Raila of having organised the ethnic cleansing. For a lawyer who understands proof and evidence, I have always asked myself whether you were merely talking hot air, and that is why Ocampo did not take you seriously on this. But today I have another issue which stirs passions aflame in my heart.
In the past month, two events have happened which, in my opinion, have further revealed the political vacuum at the center of the GCG, and the whole poltical super-structure. The territorial integrity of Kenya has been violated twice. And these violations as of now, constitute annexations by foreign armies or millitia. 1. The UPDF [Uganda Peoples Defence Force] has planted the Ugandan flag on Ugingo island, and are have already ordered the Kenyans living there to [adminstratively] organise their papers, as they are now illegally on foreign territory. 2. Ethiopian millitia, backed by their border guards in the rear, have ethnically cleansed an area of Kenya, murdering the villagers and adding new land to their motherland.
And what has the political class done? to earn their pay and oath? Martha, in my nationalist heart I feel injured. My sense of patriotism is humuliated, and I will betch ma dik I aint the only one. The inability [or deliberate unwillingness??] of Raila and Kibaki to defend the sovereignity of Kenya, something they are sworn to do, cuts me to pieces. Then Kibaki goes to the swearing in of the man who has ordered the invasion of his own nation. Karua, that is treason, and somebody running for the Presidency of the republic as a serious candidate, should be aware and be told openly, that there is another narrative to the independence of Kenya. And that in that narrative, colluding with foreign countries to the detriment and insecurity of Kenyan citizens, warrants a charge of treason. And in that narrative, which I ascribe to, rotten political hos like Sally Kosgei trashing, saying the national flag is merely to avoid traffic jams, have no idea of the fury which curls up in the hearts of men dedicated to their country and her national flag.
Karua, either you have what it takes to come up and defend every inch of Kenyan territory and the dignity of her peoples, or you are just another charlatan, [to borrow my good friend prof. Kagwanja's vocabulary]. Look at Ruto and Wamalwa prostituting themselves before Museveni. With one press conference you can make these pretenders irrelevant forever in the debate for the future of our nation. Or is it like Laibon Lenana in 1904 putting his illiterate thumb to a British document which read: I surrender all Masai land rights present and future to the Queen of England forver! And this Lenana is still a hero in Kenya, with say prestigious schools named after him.
Martha, surely there must be a presidential candidate capable of understanding this alternative view to the Kenyan flag. Her peoples innate ruthless pride which led the abagikuyu for instance, to fight so desperately to reclaim 'the whiteman's highlands! I am not saying you do. I am thinking you are the one most likely to understand the historical import of this argument.

And there is Ruto dining away at the table of a man who has grabbed part of the land in a country he wishes to be president of?? I am telling you this Martha, because I think you have the intellect to understand the irony of it. Raila, Kibaki, Kalonzo, Uhuru, I conseder lacking in this subtle capacity for historical nuance.
The prime minister of Kenya himself was barred from stepping on some part of Kenya! otherwise the Ethiopians would throw the book of tresspass at him! Minimally the chief of staff of the army has to exit --[though you have to call him to parliament to face the defence committee first to explain to the nation this failure]. And on Migingo and Ugingo, the head of the navy --is he an admiral? must be chopped.
NB: The Kenyan navy have just bought a decomissioned french patrol boat called La Rieuse. That is part of the reasons the French were paying Raila's hotel bills, which his press secretary so boasts about elsewhere.
So Martha, the presidency is yours to loose. Defend Kenya with the same passion you mistakenly used to defend thief Kibaki, and the people shall forgive. Play safe and rot in oblivion. Kenya will have the best in you, or nothing. It remains your call.

tnk, ;D i have corrected the erroneous gender reference to the website too.let for now blame it on the punitive nairobi winter! i want to imagine that by the term worldwide trending, apondi's handlers meant that the topic was featured among those in twitter's africa's cluster with biggest hits(twitter ratings). apondi ;D is the only presidential aspirant in kenya so far with the highest twitter following( 70k plus) and some self conceited individual recently had the temerity to question, tongue in cheek, if the online following can be translated into 2012 votes. your guess is as good as mine. i am saying that there is something that the sister from gichugu is doing right and love her or hate her, apondi is post-kibaki compliant
