dubois,
Thanks for subconsciously letting the truth out. To quote you;
"You are right, tribalism will not let you acknowledge a kikuyu government irrespective of its achievements. Don't get me wrong, like any other Kenyan I too want a better/inclusive government."
At least you accurately acknowledge that your tribal hero Kibaki is leading a Kikuyu government. That is precisely the point. Kenyans do not need a Kikuyu government. They need a Kenyan government. Is that too hard to grasp?
I hope you mean what you say by this,.........(quote you) " I too want a better/inclusive government",........If you mean that, then you have basically crossed the floor and joined me in agitating for that better and inclusive government that we DO NOT have. In that case karibu,....Let's keep the flame burning and press for a better and inclusive government which we don't have.
As for economic achievements of that Kikuyu government ( just using your words). Yes I've seen the following BASIC ECONOMIC ACHIEVEMENTS: (Quoting from Barack Muluka's 2006 Standard oped piece)
The truth was that in 1978, when Jomo Kenyatta died, a two kilogram packet of maize flour (unga) sold for Sh2.80. When Moi retired after 24 years, the same packet cost Sh27. It had gone up by a shilling each year. But in three years under Kibaki, the cost of unga had more than doubled to Sh60. The truth was also that when Kibaki took over, a kilo of sugar went for Sh27. Three years later, it cost Sh58. It was also true that while a litre of paraffin fetched Sh22 when Kibaki took over, it now cost Sh60.
What wonderful economic achievements to clap about.
The percentage of Kenyans living under Poverty has gone up 6% to 59%; and the inequality (poverty) gap has widened further,..........having created a few more Anglo-Fleecing billionaires and millions of overtly poor citizens.
For your information, the reasons I criticize Kibaki are numerous. It is not because of his tribe, for heavens sake!!!! Cooking up economic figures is just one reason,....Anglo-Fleecing, nepotism, media muzzling, attempted fraud on Katiba, official impunity and disregard for law, murdering civilian demonstrators (including innocent school children), looting & plunder of public resources,..........assassinating critics like Dr. Mbai,....abuse of public resources in elections,.....etc etc etc.
Aren't those enough reasons to warrant genuine criticism, besides your simplistic tribal argument.
On Kibaki's isolation,......Why shift blame to wrong people. It is Kibaki who has isolated himself and his supporters by insulating himself with a GEMA/Narc-K blanket,...and breaking away from the rest. In doing so, he disregarded democratic principles of coalition building & prefered his tribal home( DP=Narc-K). I think LDP, Ford-K and NPK should not be surprised at all having witnessed the 2003 disbanding of the NARC summit in preference for a tribal Mt. Kenya cabal.
NOW talking of moral authority. I will let you be your own judge in your conscience. Do you have any moral authority to ask anyone to shut up as they express their disappointment at Kibaki?
What about this ideology of tribal hatred,.......Why is it that all Kibaki critics are labelled tribalists by people who can't deal with logs in their own eyes. Why is it that if a Kamba criticizes Kibaki then he is sucking up to Kalonzo,...if a Luo does the same then he is sucking up to Raila,...and such crap. You think hiding behind that cover will hopefully squeeze in Kibaki another 5 year opportunity to continue misruling Kenya? You may be in for a rude shock.
I can bet you there are many Kenyans who dislike Kibaki and Raila alike,.. but still see the bad side of Kibaki's government.
The list of atrocities commited by this fraudulent government of Kibaki (you call it Kikuyu government) is what draws criticisms,........... which will not stop by the way.
Don't try spinning from Kibaki to Raila since the latter is not Kenya's President. You will not succeed in reducing this to a political duel between Raila and Kibaki since there are millions of better qualified Kenyans (besides the two) able to assume top leadership. I am not clamouring for Raila to be elected President for your information,....I am simply agitating that Kibaki must go,....period! In any case, I will accept Kenyans choice for their leader anyway even if i disagree with the choice.
Start with yourself? In your true conscience, are you not sucking up to Kibaki? Only defending him because he's your tribesmate.
In reality you know the only people in Kenya who have never voted for Kenyans from a tribe other than theirs. Don't you? So this lectures about tribalism are nothing new to many Kenyans,....they can see for themselves Sir. Remove the big log clouding your eyes before you comment on specks in other peoples eyes sir.
On ODM, you are da.mn right about it. They have to put up their act together or simply shut up and go home. I don't think many Kenyans have the luxury to be treated to anxious moments and hope for change only to be duped by power hungry individuals not ready for any change or even simple unity.
On the last note, could you please clear this out for me,......is your other name Kamale (purely for clarity)? Don't bother if you are not, I'm just curious.
unedited.
