...and he had quite an entourage - Immigration minister Otieno Kajwang’ and MPs Gitobu Imanyara (Imenti Central), Ababu Namwamba (Bundalang’i), Manson Nyamweya (Soth Mugirango), Millie Odhiambo (nominated) and former legislator Maoka Maore.
I will exclude his look alike called Mpuri whose chungwa shouts did little to excite
...need I say more

I think that the most significant thing was not how many of the current central kenya MPs who were in the entourage but the number of people who came out to welcome the PM in spite of the boycott by the Uhuru Kenyatta (boss) fearing MPs. Its these people who have the votes. I count the PMs tour very successful given that people were even issued with death threats if they attended.
Kenya is slowly changing and going past some people who are still stuck in the old ways of "my tribe"

ODM delegates, members and supporters in Nyeri County are preparing to receive Prime Minister Raila Odinga who is expected in Tetu district.
A similar trip scheduled for last year was canceled at the last hour. Significantly, PM Raila Odinga is expected to plant a tree at Karuna-ini area today which is where freedom fighter Dedan Kimathi was captured by British colonial soldiers.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Caravan is now headed for Coast region this weekend. The Caravan will start its journey from Malindi on Saturday May 19, 2012 before arriving in Mombasa that evening. On Sunday, the Caravan will start from Kwale before ending up in Likoni, where Prime Minister Raila Odinga is expected to address a mammoth rally after meeting privately with ODM delegates.
You are invited. Chungwa Moja, Maisha Bora,
PS: The entire ODM function at the coast will be open to the press. There'll be no accreditation necessary. ( pun intended ;D )

Phil,
Some of these trips by the PM are a total waste of time and our money Bw Phil. Take for instance the recent Nyeri tour by the PM. I am told there were no any leaders worth the mention to receive him.
The only local leader to attend was the council chair, who not only arrived very late, but also told the PM to his face, that Nyeri people have already thrown their lot with Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, leading the PM to plead for only one term in office.

I just saw you posting pictures of William Ruto and Francis Ole Kaparo meeting so called URP delegates in Nairobi and Meru counties. Which "leaders worth the mention" were there to received Ruto and Kaparo? To make it worse, Ruto's own declared running mate (Mwakwere) and presidential ticket challenger (Jirongo) all seem to have taken a permanent sabbatical from Ruto's rent-a-delegate tours of the counties. Whatever the heck happened to the prayer hate rallies? You must know by now ODM does not have elected representatives in Nyeri. But it does have thousands of elected delegates and friends like Waruru Kanja whom I bet you have not the faintest idea about. ODM also boasts of esteemed friends like retired Anglican Archbishop David Gitari in the Mt. Kenya region. The question is, what does URP have apart from Hon Dualle choosing to become Ruto's shadow?

Bwana Mwalimu---- Pilipili usioila yakuwashia nini? You have already expressed your displeasure with the PM time and again. I wonder why you are so concerned with the PM or what he does or are you scared that he is going to eat into Uhuruto & co's territory, please give him a break. The guy is more concerned about meeting the people as opposed to being met by local leaders from Nyeri who are only focused on driving the ethnic agenda. You simply had nothing of substance to tell us.

Phil, Mwakwere just organized a very successful meet the people tour of lower coast last week. These are people who are in this party with their hearts ndugu yangu, not for money and positions like tnose other fellows fighting for Mudavadi's seat. It is also wrong for you to compare URP's rendezvous and the PM's misguided tours. While Ruto and Duale are using their own meagre resources, the PM is using our money. Running around with sixty security men at our cost doing nothing but politic and campaigning prematurely.

The next election won't be decided by the number of "regional leaders" a candidate has going into the elections but by who will have majority votes from the ordinary mwananchi. Therefore any serious presidential must channel his/her energy to engaging wananchi directly and not through self-declared and often thirsty regional players.

OMG, the current ODM wave is even stronger than the last. The Tsunami is on the verge of sweeping all pretenders to the sea. This party is surely reloaded. Great stuff, we are moving forward. And we have not even launched our campaign!

Mzee, Raila and ODM has a very simple message to Kenyans. Let's take our country back that is the message and it is resonating with Kenyans and Raila of all the politicians can say that withiout fear oc contradiction. With Kibaki still trying to sabotage devolution and sticking out for his buddies instead of championing the interest of Kenyans, Raila's message is right on the money. And here is Mudavadi completely lost and talking nonsense. oh Raila should retire. Oh Raila is old. Oh Raila is stalking me. Oh Raila is sendind goons to mess me up. Oh Raila this Oh Raila that. Is it any wonder people have tuned out of Mudavadi barely before he leaves the gate. This guy will not make it to number 5 in the polls. Early retirement . Here is Mudavadi. www.standardmedia.co.ke/?articleID=2000058543&story_title=DPM%20and%20allies%20say%20ODM%20stalking%20UDF,%20lacks%20strategy

Adongo, Things are looking very good for ODM. Never mind the confused party launches that are being done right, left and center. The new parties are still groping in the dark with no clear sign of direction. Mara they want to form this alliance, mara they want to go it alone, mara they have a mbas.
Mudavadi entered this thing to compete with other presidential candidates not to get a free pass. It looks like his number one strategy of Uhuru and Ruto being jailed by the ICC and “leaving” votes for him is dead on arrival. The guys are as determined as ever to be on the ballot paper. None of them is intending to make a nice bed for Mudavadi to sleep in.
Now he wants Raila to “leave” him votes by retiring. Perhaps he entered into this thing not knowing how tough it can be. I wonder why he did not ask Kajudas on how rocky campaigns are. Mudavadi has been forgotten just a few weeks after hitting the road. What a pity.
Kibisu Kabatesi, Musalias chief strategist must be wondering where they went wrong. Mudavadi should know that nobody has ever made Raila a campaign agenda and succeeded. But who cares if one decides to reside in a fool’s paradise.

Friends,
The ODM Roadshow Caravan, fresh from a triumphant coast tour this past weekend, is now poised to re-visit Western this coming weekend, starting on Saturday in Kakamega County followed by delegates meeting and public rally at Masinde Muliro Gardens; and then cap it all in Kisumu County on Sunday at a venue to be communicated.

OMG, the current ODM wave is even stronger than the last. The Tsunami is on the verge of sweeping all pretenders to the sea. This party is surely reloaded. Great stuff, we are moving forward. And we have not even launched our campaign! Kumechacha!! Thanks TitchazMzee The fact is Raila wooed the public to the rally by one earlier promises to announce publicly his and ODMs support for MRC and had to change tact after personal calls from Minister of Internal Security on the implications of such a public call putting in mind he is the prime minister of the Republic of Kenya. Well its well known that MRC has vowed not to participate in the upcoming G.E. and issued the statement below after Raila backtracked Second was to show his might against Mudavadi and thus his last minute decision to do the Mombasa visit , did his visit dent Mudavadis Tononoka visit ? your guess is as good as mine numbers dont lie but people do . As Mudavadi rightly put it its Messi Vs Pele -The coming days will be telling and as Raila continues in undermining Mudavadi publicly the Western votes slowly by slowly slips from his hands. We all witnessed Raila antics in the last 10 years Raila undermining Kijana Wamalwa - Western votes lost Raila undermining Kibaki - Mount Kenya Votes lost Raila undermining Kalonzo- Eastern votes lost Raila undermining Maitha-Mijikenda votes lost Raila undermining Nyachae-Kissi Nyanza votes lost Raila undermining Ruto - Rift valley votes lost Raila undermining Balala -Muslim votes lost Now Raila undermining Mudavadi - The outcome is evident www.nation.co.ke/News/politics/Outlaw+group+rejects+Railas+offer+of+talks+/-/1064/1410270/-/qussirz/-/index.htmlThe outlawed Mombasa Republican Council has rebuffed offers of dialogue made by Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his deputy, Mr Musalia Mudavadi. The two presidential aspirants made the offers during separate rallies in Mombasa at the weekend. On Monday, MRC spokesman Mohammed Rashid Mraja accused them of playing politics. MRC, he said, will not engage in any dialogue for as long as it remains banned by the government. “MRC leadership does not dispute the idea of having talks with the politicians or government but worldwide there is no government that talks to outlawed groups,” he said. “MRC wants the outlawed tag to be removed before talks commence,” he added. In the meantime, the group will not give up its secession bid and vow to boycott next year’s General Election. “Over the years, political leaders eyeing the presidential seat have been giving empty promises to Coast residents, but we shall not allow that to happen this time round,” he said. Share This Story 90Share Related Stories Raila rules out talks with outlawed gang MRC has no legal rights, court told Police arrest 37 in crackdown on MRC Raila to tackle challenges at the Coast Declare seats vacant, leaders urge Speaker Presidential aspirants campaigning at the Coast, he added, ‘‘are just wasting their time and money as nobody will vote for them’’. He said the region will not participate in the General Election since MRC believes it is not part of Kenya. Last month, members of the group disrupted a mock election by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission in one station in Kilifi county. A policeman was injured in the attack and his gun stolen. Last week, two watchmen were killed in an attack on an IEBC office in Kwale county although police have said there was no evidence linking the group to the raid in which computers were stolen. Internal Security minister George Saitoti has vowed there will be no talks with the group until it renounces its secession bid. And in his state of the nation address to Parliament this month, President Kibaki reiterated that the Coast region is an integral part of Kenya. While addressing a rally in Kisauni on Sunday, Mr Odinga said ODM will convene a forum for stakeholders from the region that will bring on board MRC to tackle injustices that had not been addressed by successive governments. And, speaking at Tononoka grounds on the same day, Mr Mudavadi said his party, the United Democratic Forum, will move a motion in Parliament this week to set up a select committee to investigate MRC’s grievances. But Mr Mraja said politicians out to convince MRC to drop its secession bid were wasting their time and resources. “We will not allow the various party leaders to try and use MRC to gain popularity. MRC leadership is not ready to be compromised and the movement will at no time be a political tool,’’ he said. He said Mr Odinga and Mudavadi should look for other ways to market themselves at the Coast. He cautioned Coast residents to be wary of greedy and selfish leaders. “These leaders will use money to confuse and divide the people. As MRC, we are tired of them and their rhetoric. These politicians are not liberators as they claim, but are hungry for power,’’ he said. Mr Mraja said MRC will continue to press for secession for Coastals to govern themselves. “Coast problems will only be solved by people from the region,” he said.
