Mwalimumkuu, I'll always remember him for taking a bite off the late Mwenje's back & his rendition of Bado Mapambano at Orange rallies. May Gerald Otieno Kajwang RIP. Here I was watching Cheche on Citizen earlier this morning when Uduak Amimo made a very interesting comment to the MP of Rarieda who was on the guest on the set today. As they were discussing all problems ODM, the subject of Governor Kidero came up. Uduak told the MP that Kidero was scheduled to be today’s guest but cancelled unexpectedly because "he was in state house meeting the president". Hmmmm...

A man dies and the myths begin.
May he cross over to the light and rest in peace. But seriously, Otieno Kajwang was a disbarred lawyer, a man who stole from him clients, a thoroughly corrupt Immigration Minister who issued work permits and Kenyan passports to the highest foreign bidder...
Why are human beings so dysfunctional??? Call a spade a spade.
Again, may he cross over to the light and rest in eternal peace.

Mapambano, we shall miss you. ~~ Mwalimumkuu @nyumbakubwa ~~ My condolences to Sen. Otieno Kajwang's family and friends. He was a good man and served his constituency and country as whole very well. I'll always remember him with his big smile and jovial mood no matter what the situation was. Those who observed him in action be it in Parliament, Cabinet or Senate know he was an impassioned, articulate and effective debater. Take him from there and put him between and among village folk, he was equally entertaining and effective in communicating his ideas or whatever he had in mind.

Dineo, I'm sure most informed Kenyans realize GOK was a disgraced lawyer who sought & found refuge in that circus of "leadership" we call politics. Cruise through the archives & you'll find reference to his controversial tenure at Immigration & his culpability to the current insecurity KE enjoys today thanks to his policy of pandering to the "highest foreign bidder" when it came to dishing out passports. Truth be told a lot of the damage had already been done as Kenyans had long lost the Visa upon arrival status to the UK long before he appeared on the scene. That said, you also have to admit that he could've been worse. After all, here was a man who had the perfect opportunity to skew issuance of ID's to ODM strongholds before the 2013 polls to beef up their numbers yet he pretty much slept on the job on that front.

Gerald Otieno Kajwang....the man is dead. How does one react to the death of a political jester that Kajwang was?
I have two views of Kajwang.
In the eighties when I was studying for my Section 1 ofCPA, Otieno Kajwang was my Law lecturer at the School of Professional Studies at Finance House. He had a very good grasp of the laws of contract and tort and I passed the exams easily.
The next I heard of Kajwang was that he had been disbarred for stealing client money.
The other view I have of him is as minister of Immigration and Registration of persons.
When an Indian I was working with and who had come as an expatriate was given Kenyan citizenship for a mere 500,000 shillings, then I knew our system had broken down under the minister. I started getting word of how much Somalis were paying for ID cards, Passports and Kenyan citizenship and I started understanding Kajwang's puffy cheeks!Quite a number of the terror threats this country suffers are a direct result of his actions.
So yeah...let us mourn the death of Kajwang for it directly affects many in his family, but let us not forget the other things that will make many not shed a tear!!
