This documentary was made by Ramadhan Khamis, the Kenyan independent film maker and veteran social justice activist with sponsorship and active support from Firoze Manji, Director of Pan African Baraza/Thought Works. Our appreciation also goes to the organizations which made the event such a success: Awaaz magazine, Kenya Asian Forum, Asian-African Heritage Trust, Katiba Institute, the Mau Mau War Veterans Association, Mazingira Institute and the Kenya Human Rights Commission. The key presenters-among them Dr. Willy Mutunga, Chief Justice; Pheroze Nowrojee, senior counsel; Gitu wa Kahengeri, Mau Mau veteran; Prof. Yash Pal Ghai; leading light of the constitutional reform movement; Zarina Patel historian, and socialist activist; the well known progress poet and cultural performer Ndungi wa Githuku; Firoze Manji; Fitz de Souza, the first Deputy Speaker in the Kenya National Assembly and Pinto confidant and Davinder Lamba, Director of Mazingira, among others provided valuable inputs to create an indelible imprint on our collective memories. The constant encouragement we got from Emma Gama Pinto, Pio's widow as well as other members of the wider Da Gama Pinto clan like Linda, Savio, Audrey and Clarence, not forgetting the Australia based Kenyan journalist, blogger and archivist Cyprian Fernandes made the whole experience a real, vibrant family occasion.
