Hey Omwenga Ori! You said Tafawa Balewa, Obafemi Awolowo, Ahmadu Bello --Great names from Nigeria have mouthed these words anytime in the past. And then the words went with the wind. So, what is different in the script this time? The raised hopes and jubilation of the people we know, any picture from Independence day on any nation in Africa (and elsewhere in the world) always has this ecstatic crowd, genuinely moved at the concept of their own freedom. But those of us who do history are slow to join celebrations. I am now leafing through some of the books by great Nigerian writers of the post-independence period. Have thins fundamentally changed such that their pessimism is now unwarranted. And, Ayi Kweih Armah no longer wait, since a beautiful one has been born, at last!? at last! What has Buhari been doing the past 25 years?! Ahem!

What has Buhari been doing the past 25 years?! Ahem! Ori Jakaswanga,One hopes he has been preparing for this moment to take Nigeria to greater heights and now having been given a rare second opportunity to do so; let's hope as I am sure all Nigerians do that he can deliver as he has promised. What a pity it would be if those eloquent words become for naught but I doubt they will.

Central Bank of Nigeria arrests. fellas there were not destroying old/decommissioned currency, just recycling them and becoming billionares. In one swoop Buhari has nabbed them. Now the prosecutions: will that be a sham?

A friend who knows the goings on in Nigeria tells me this new president is determined to end corruption there here is what he did on his first day of office: order the arrest of Central Bank of Nigeria executives engaged in corruption that had been exposed before but nothing done about it. It is expected that more arrests are to come as the clean-up continues. Central Bank of Nigeria Executives Arrested in $33m Theft LAGOS, Nigeria — Jun 1, 2015, 6:17 PM ET Associated PressFinancial crime agents arrested 21 bankers including senior executives of the Central Bank of Nigeria for the theft of $33 million worth of defaced naira currency notes, Nigerian officials said Monday. The Economic and Financial Crime Commission said a whistleblower alerted it to the "mega scam." "The lid on the scam, which is widely suspected to have gone on unchecked for years, was blown via a petition to the EFCC alledging that over 6,575,549,370 naira was cornered and discreetly recycled by light-fingered top executives of the CBN," a statement said. Among the suspects are officers from eight commercial banks in Nigeria, including bank leaders Ecobank and Zenith Bank, it said. The fraud involved using cut-up pieces of newspaper to replace notes in Nigeria's naira currency that had been designated for destruction at the Central Bank. It charged the commercial bank officers then helped put the defaced and mutilated notes back into circulation. Those arrested will be charged on five counts in a federal high court this week, the statement said. Nigeria's newly installed President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to fight Nigeria's endemic corruption and graft. Central Bank of Nigeria Executives Arrested

Nigeria goes Sanctimonious overnight! SAHARA TV's Adeoloa has a run-in with Mugabe and his goons! and shreds them to pieces! This is crazy! The charming Adeola who online is a machinegun-chatter, can be very innocent and deadly on sight: --when are you going to step down Mugabe? Is 30 years not enough for one man rule? We want to come to Zimbabue and witness a change like you have come to see in Nigeria!? When can we come! Embarrassed, both Nigerian and Zimbabue security officials crowd the journalists, but times have changed: You do you job I do mine! Mine is to ask questions ---and I want to know from this dictator himself when he thinks of stepping down! (Luckyly Grace Mugabe was not around, she once scratched a man's eyes out in Hong Kong, when the man 'embarassed' her husband with a disapproving placard. A new young and fresh-faced Africa confronts an old stunted Africa hiding behind power, and reveals how empty it is up there at the top! Keeping It Real With Adeola: Episode 142(Election 2015 Atiku, Buhari, Jonathan, In-depth Analysis) Light touch: starting 5:00, earlier fight against corruption, zero tolerance. anybody remember long ago the kidnapping of UMARU DIKKO from London?

Buhari sets his agenda, the Nigerian Mpigs too! haya! I am told Boko Haram means western education is bad!
Considering the prestigious degrees from prestigious western universities which fill these Nigerian houses of legislation --(most of the legislators being some of the most extraordinarily educated lawyers in Africa) I begin to get the Boko Haram point!
They can not run a single refinery in the world's number 10 oil producer, and they bill the taxpayer for dandy clothes!? This is very haram boko!

We will soon find out if the ex General is serious. During his inauguration, he walked to Babangida and Obasanjo and promised them 'no revenge'. --Babangida jailed him long ago! But that is not it. The thing is the Obasanjo and Babangida fortunes were made from, ehm, how do nigerians call it again? So if Buhari is to keep either promise, he has to break one. Lets hope he is Solomon!
