WHY NO VC FOR THE BRAVE BRIT OF RIVERSIDE DRIVE?
headlined a Kenyan daily.
According to a British tabloid, the brave Brit took charge of the situation from 'cowering locals'. Saving the face of the incompetent regime from certain international shame! -Here is a taste of his heroism!
I want to focus on this triviality, his honour unbecoming inversely said. It will be like the tabloid angle which best tells the story of the inner workings of royalty, especially the dynamics of the decay. You know like the Diana-Dodi affair. It was ever hot in the news, ever titillating those who flog and live off newspaper sales! If contemporary tabloid tales are a bore, there are even deeper tabloid classics to foray, for example Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. One non-Biblical tabloid angle has it from this cu-nt and c.ock union sprung the first Aethiopian emperor! (The last of course had his skull turned into a toilet mouth in a sinister historical revenge by the dark son of his menialised cook, Mengistu)
OK, 8-4-4 Ignoramus, VC is Victoria Cross, GC is the George Cross. These are top British honours, dare I say, military. They celebrate extreme valour and gallantry --the best of the best in the face of enemy fire! Far past James Bond.
The now face-incognito but world-famous brave Brit, NCO SAS he is, London sources say, will be recommended for an award ONLY SECOND to the ULTIMATE VICTORIA CROSS!
That is the George cross!
I gasped. Stopped in bemused shock. My mind tweeted: hold it right there! take a steep sip of thought! Holy sh!t be da-mned I!
BUREAUCRATIC DISCOMFORT IN LONDON?
WHY would this guy not MERIT the best honour of his land!? --Just think about it!
It occurred to me to muse some, even explain, this slight. Because this relegation of his OBVIOUS dedicated ---valour and gallantry--- heroism to second class rank reeked of a bureaucratic discomfort. My estimation of this man is highest. He is military total cum laude, summum cum. But obviously the military mandarinate in London think I am wrong. Such a tiff between observed reality on one hand, and the bureaucratic assimilation of it on the other, is good tabloid material, the Diana-Dodi kind. Or, the deeper they go, David and Uriah in a love triangle with Bethsheba.
Money for nothing and chicks for free, sang a British Band, Dire Straits. There are versions of the story of how it is Bathsheba who, crimsonly ambitious and seeing a path higher, connived the lust-crazed David into the murder plot starring General Unscrupulous Joab. I remember the script went something like this:
much praise did the King heap upon the gallantly departed Uriah, and
much tears did the widow of the hero shed that day, and, beside the grave,
falling helplessly for comfort into the arms of the King and commander in chief!
General Joab stoically took it all in. And made notes to double the watch on his back. He was obviously a loose end to be tied up later in this story of treachery. And with opaque face he saluted the body of the fallen Uriah as it was lowered south!
After reading that as a boy, I always put lots of mental miles between truth and the official obituary of a famous man! Adults, I scared, play these games you better not invest your young heart in. So I do tabloids a lot. That is why I like God, and atheism is till beyond me. You see the Bible convinces me God saw man Adam was lonely, pining and threatening suicide, risking giving paradise Eden permanent bad press, so out of his ribs he crafted Eve ----means Puszy in an ancient mid-east language, solely for the entertainment of man Adam, his genial creation in own image!
If you are not on to tabloids for your best revelatory angles of upper class rot, dear Kenyan, you will have to treat me to a thesis on the following --THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER, subtext, the undecorated hero's of our land.
CLUE ONE:
A man whose life was cut short by a cowardly act: terrorism --Uhuru Kenyatta.

After repeated efforts to convince Uriah to have sex with Bathsheba the king gave the order to his general, Joab, that Uriah should be placed on the front lines of the battle, where Uriah would be more likely to die. David had Uriah himself carry the message that led to his death. After Uriah has been killed, David married Bathsheba.
