THE AFTERMATH OF A REFERENDUM IN GREECE.
Angela Merkel has had to rush to Paris, to consult with Francois Hollande, ahead of the emergency Eurotop (summit) scheduled Tuesday tomorrow, Brussels. This follows the thunderous NO, which was the result of the Greek referendum on Sunday July 5 2015. Before the referendum, the Eurozone institutes + the IMF (the alliance formerly known as the TROIKA) and respective politicians insisted the referendum was about Greece staying in the Eurozone or exiting, contrary to the position of the Tsipras government which specified it was about the austerity-clad bailout packages being rammed down Greece's throat.
To get a yes vote, the ECB for instance cut off cash flow to Greek banks, leading to asphyxiation and closure of operations, --capital controls-- with pensioners unable to withdraw their meagre 60 Euros a week. Northern papers carried hysterical headlines about the Insane men of Athens, meaning Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and his (now ex) finance minister Varoufakis. There was a campaign of systematic terror and intimidation from the powerful countries of the Eurozone to have the Greeks vote the right way. By No, Grexit was called inevitable.
Yet No it became. And a huge one too. 60%.
What to do now?
Confused and shocked out of his wits, Eurogroup chair Jeroen Dijsselbloem of the Netherlands, crawled back from declaring it a Grexit. -''O? So you were not serious last week when you promised it, declaring Greece had shut the door on the Euro!?'' he was asked.
The problem is simple: the Eurozone population do not share the lofty and financially corrupt hogwash the eurozone leaders spew about the Union. Like the Euro is irreversible and guarantor of peace between european tribes. On the contrary, 80% of the Germans want Greeks out of the Euro. They consider them a Mediterranean people with backward financial mentalities. For the Dutch, 76% think Greece is a banana republic unworthy of a currency union with. For Finland, Greece is a planet of the primitive apes, more suited to the African than the European Union. The Danes and Swedes want Greece in the Eurozone, but without the Greeks! They want it as a winter reprieve, a resort to break winter at; they want it empty, except for a few Africans employed to clean the beaches, the streets, mow the lawns in the months the Scandinavians are absent, working their 14 hour days!
But the European elite wants a common currency and a neo-liberal European home for everybody -even the more useless than Greeks Ukrainians! (Ukraine is another yawning basket case waiting for manna from heaven!). The problem is the elites have designed a Europe to their own class biases, pillage , and have always been scared of letting the people decide on what for European Union they want. The people do not want a europe where the private debt of oligarchs is nationalised/socialised, but the profits always privatised. Now the elite is caught in the glare of the democratic deficit, and confused they turn angry at direct democracy.
If they kick Greece out, they blow up their pet project. The euro is reversible.
If they keep Greece in, they have to, not just bail her out, but write off her debts. This passes the bill to their taxpayers, whom they have fed with the poison of Greeks being lazy apes. The public is thus in no mood to send a penny thence.
Then there is the United States with its cold-war recidivism. Greece is important to their NATO geo-political strategy against Russia and China. Uncle Sam fears Russia and China could find a foothold in the Aegean following a Grexit.
Bail out Greece in exchange for a naval base or two! -That is running stomachs at the pentagon.
Here is the scalp claimed by the ECB. They wont sit with him at the same table. Tsipras had to fire him.
