I am a curious person and I browse a lot. I love the range and diversity of Kenyan blogs and discussion forums, not to speak of Facebook groups and other social media cites. It seems there is a new one sprouting every other week. One of the latest is Deep Cogitation. It has admirable goals: deepcogitation.com/about/Jukwaa is linked as one of the friendly blogs. The other thing I noticed is the number of Jukwaa members who are very active there with the very same handles they use on Jukwaa: Phil, Einstein, Mzee, Akinyi, Mank...I was wondering, if the following reflection in late August spurred the genesis of Deep Cogitation: I consider myself the dumbest member of Jukwaa, but I think it's been changed into a Miguna "newspaper". Can respectable people like Phil or Adongo start a new website and we will defect en mass to it and leave this to the smart people? Where my PIPE at? Lighter please! Who Knows? What I have also noticed is that a couple of Jukwaa regulars seem hell bent on a mission to drive Jukwaa traffic to Deep Cogitation. I will watch this trend for a while before I decide what to do about it.... Onyango Oloo Jukwaa Administrator

First, the title of this thread is misleading. I see no contest (real or imagined) between Jukwaa and any other online blog. Second, it is a free world. I personally blog at no less than a dozen online boards and blogs. I am also active in social media. I always make cross-reference and provide links and inter-links to all the sites in related threads or on matters of mutual interest. Thirdly, subscription and contribution to any of these boards is voluntary and this is what has largely made me an active blogger. I agree with you Oloo that Deep Cogitation admirable objectives. Just as Jukwaa does. Having said all that I see no big issue here deserving of a fresh thread. Happy blogging!!

Hehehehe. Some of us called it early.... Predictably, after her allies were defeated at the ODM National Women Democrats League in July, Rachael Shebesh chooses the easier way out. She compromises her principals, reneges on her promises to ODM members and jumps into bed with Uhuru Kenyatta at TNA. The idea is for Beth Mugo (Uhuru's cousin sister) is being handed the TNA Senator ticket in Nairobi, while Rachel Shebesh has been promised a fully financed campaign and a direct nomination for Women's representative for Nairobi on TNA ticket. She is now with TNA. This is politics. deepcogitation.com/2012/09/23/is-hon-rachel-shebesh-headed-to-tna/I suppose Rough Rider, were he still active, would've been scrambling for a new avatar right around now as Phil continues to surreptitiously promote an "alternative" blog ;D ;D ;D ;D OO, fret not. Mzee & Phil are right on this one. Deep Comatose Cogitation should be allowed to plug itself even on Jukwaa. Your own Demokrasia Project & Omwenga's Omwenga blogspot come to mind as blogs that are constantly plugged by their founder member(s) with links to exclusive material that can only be accessed outside of Jukwaa. Even Phil of late has some non-descript (self-penned?) ODM blog he constantly harps on about on Jukwaa. Let's live & let live. As Akinyi points out, at least you know they're out there. Whether your prodigal "blood brothers" will successfully maintain an interesting blog that can represent all hues of the political spectrum in KE is another matter all together. Allow them some private space they can call their own to propagate their self deluding Kumbayas since they believe the oxygen was taken away from them on Jukwaa by your alleged betrayal(s). Even Doctor Phil (the real one) acknowledges time outs are good for those prone to temper tantrums. I suspect the DC crew will crawl back to Jukwaa as the elections draw nearer & they become emboldened enough to face the heat in the political cauldron that is Jukwaa ;D ;D ;D ;D

b6kYou are talking hogwash. You, or anybody else for that matter, will not dictate where and how I blog. I assure you on that. Perhaps you want to refocus on your own personal initiatives, eg. PEELING BACK THE MASK, the biggest best seller since THIKA SUPERHIGHWAY.

Onyango Oloo, You quoted me above as having dropped the migration idea. I was under the influence of Kentucky weed and if any one acted on my statement then shauri yao. I did not even know the site till i read your posting. Do not throw me out for that would be a great sin against the gods. The Annunaki will not be happy.

The place looks like it's off to a good start and could be very useful if the "owner" keeps a firm hand on the tiller and stops it going the way of most such Kenyan websites, i.e. a place where Kenyans exchange juvenile matusi, engage in petty gossip and rumour-mongering, etc. ...
It has the potential to be a good complement to Jukwaa, in so far as Jukwaa is "all about politics" whereas DC appears to be aiming for a broader "coverage". So, I don't see why Comrade Oloo feels that he has to "watch this trend for a while before I decide what to do about it".
That said, if Comrade Oloo feels he has to do something about it, then I have a suggestion. Actually, this has been on my mind for some time, so I will out with it even if Comrade Oloo decides not to concern himself with DC.
My suggestion is that we should have a "Jukwaa Group" consisting of two subsidiaries: Jukwaa-P (the current Jukwaa and devoted to politics) and Jukwaa-NP (for other things). I am sure that there are many here who, like me, have many varied interests that they wish to discuss in relation to Kenya and Africa. Art, literature, music, history, science, ... etc.

Two coments and OO can be my witness
1. On the mission of trying to drive traffic away from Jukwaa, I called out Omwenga on that one- OO's response is in Jukwaa archives. So I am wondering why DC should be an issue- is it the actual exodus of the usual suspects?
2. On the possibility of revamping Jukwaa and taking it to the next level, I was ahead of the curve eons- again I was ignored.
DC design is in the right direction but to busy (wao! - who chose the colours? the background is scorching to the eye) and complex. I think it is good that the emergence of DC has woken up admin and hopefully we can get a better product right here.
Chill out OO all is not lost.

What a shame! People are not even ashamed to twist facts to suit their own propaganda and even get a free space to post the same! Is this the Kenya we really want to live in and bequeath to our own children? Please wait for the truth, nothing else but the truth about these politically or otherwise instigated violence in Kenya to be released soon by: deepcogitation.com/ A Fact Based, Critical Examination and Analysis of Leadership, Governance, Politics and Societal Issues forum. This is your one and probably only source of the truth, nothing else but the whole truth; the forum in the world wide web committed to restoring the dignity of the down-trodden Kenyans!! Please look out for our statement on the politically or otherwise instigated violence in Kenya to be released soonest! I believe this is my brother Einstein flogging his new pet. But the continual use of so many Jukwaa handles, means it is a jukwaa clone in concept. I always welcome a critical examination and analysis of anything, but given I know the work of einstein and phil on jukwaa, allow me to grin lazily! I will sign into that deep blog with the handle jerk-a.ss

Personally am still waiting for the administrator to come back to me on the science channel on jukwaa, just like we now have hot docs. Literature, art and films is a running thread launched by my once arch enemy politicalmaniac. Sports thread is there WHERE i usually do Serena Williams, and music is there, where we dance and discourse on talking drums and the hips of orudo which used to send you wild when you were still a man firebred! . What should happen is that they should be in a BLOCK WHICH SHOULD ALWAYS BE IN THE FRONT PAGE!

Literature, art and films is a running thread launched by my once arch enemy politicalmaniac. Sports thread is there WHERE i usually do Serena Williams, and music is there, Threads would work if they were easy to find---e.g. pinned---and of the sort that enouraged actual discussion. Is there another music thread other than the "Dedications" one, which by name implies no discussions? More signficant, to my mind, would be the explicit recognition (if Admin were so minded) that Jukwaa is about more than politics, which is why I suggested J-A and J-B.

OK, I found it. It looks like the place contains a lot, and I'm sure many Kenyans find very useful. I ventured into DC and after finding some lowlifes already there, I am happy to remain in Jukwaa! as usual matusi.. DC I bet is happy not to engage such a low life like yourself.. I hope they watch out for your chameleon like tendencies of using many handles as rumour has it. By the way why the attack on DC? is it jealousy or what? why can't Kenyans be civil and let other start their own blogs if they choose too.. why the beef with DC.. Nobody has forced any Jukwaa Member to become a member on DC.. this sounds like grade 4 theatrics very embarrassing.. shame shame!! many members here are members on other blogs what is the big deal when it comes to DC? is it the facts that some jukwaa members including myself have decided to try it out? ati now being called low lifes? Ushenzi bure!
