Nairobi- February 18, 2013
I am writing this directly on to Jukwaa, the online discussion forum that I founded and administer on a daily basis.
It is approximately 13:22 Kenyan time this Monday afternoon. As a matter of fact I just logged out approximately ten minutes ago.
My wife called me less than five minutes ago wondering:
"What's wrong with your friend? Raping his own maid!"
I was not sure WHO she was talking about so I inquired.
"The man with the same name twice", as she affectionately calls him, although being a die hard ODM supporter, she does not like Miguna Miguna very much.
"What?!"
I immediately disconnected, trying to find out for myself.
But before I could dial, an sms message came through on my phone.
It was from my comrade and buddy, Cyprian Orina Nyamwamu, the well civil society personality:
"Miguna arrested for alleged rape of the house girl? What truth in this?"
It is at that instant that I called Miguna.
He answered on the first ring.
Before I could ask the question he answered:
"So you have heard too? I am here in my home, reading the papers. Journalists are knocking on my gate. There is no truth in those rumours. I am preparing a media release. You will get it shortly."
Since his statement is coming out any minute now, I will let Miguna speak for himself.
But let me say this:
Yesterday, Sunday, February 17, 2013, I did something I rarely do- I attended a church service.
At the St. Stephen's Anglican Church on Jogoo Road to be exact. I did not go there to worship, given my secular tendencies. I went to the church because ODM's Governor Candidate, Dr. Evans Kidero and his running mate, Jonathan Mueke accompanied by the Wiper Nairobi Women's Rep. aspirant, Mrs. Ndambuki had been shepherded there by outgoing Nairobi Mayor George Aladwa who is vying for the Makadara seat on an ODM ticket. A very close friend of mine who is part of the Kidero campaign had invited me to show solidarity and I had immediately accepted because I think Kidero has what it takes to be Nairobi Governor.
After the church service we jumped in her vehicle and followed the Kidero entourage which had a date at Nairobi's Central Park at the Nyayo Monument which was the site of a Legio Maria open air gathering. To cut a long story, Kidero and his team received the spiritual blessings and moral endorsement from the Legio Maria. Off we left again for Makadara Constituency. We ended up in a rambunctious rally in the Viwandani ward, There other stops.
Afterwards I asked my friend, since she was going to Runda to drop me off around the United Nations complex in Gigiri because I had an appointment with Miguna at his house. When I called him, he said that he was not yet home but that I should proceed to the house and wait for him to arrive at around 5:30 pm.
As it turned out, I was ahead of Miguna by approximately 15 minutes being received by his twenty something nephew.
Miguna's house maid welcomed me with some refreshments.
Miguna arrived soon after and being the cordial host he always is, reminded his house made to go to the shop and replenish on items that we were on the verge of running out like juice.
In the meantime, she served both of us with a cup of tea.
For the next two hours Miguna and I were engaged with the matter we had come to meet about.
Even after completing this assignment, we spent some time in normal social and political banter which included the February 16th book launch of just a day earlier.
I left Miguna's place when it was approaching nine pm and given the fact that I do not drive, his nephew dropped me off at the bus stop.
I went back to my place in the Eastlands part of Nairobi and spent the better part of the night reading the remaining chapters of Miguna's latest offering Kidneys for the King.
I called Miguna at around 9:45 this morning to tell him that I had finished reading the book. I pointed out a couple of minor typographical errors which he pledged to correct in the upcoming reprint of Kidneys for the King.
I told Miguna I was leaving for town and would call him later in the day to touch base.
I came to a cyber cafe where I browsed for about an hour and a half.
Then the phone call from my wife and the text message from Cyprian.
Miguna has of course told me in summary some of the latest developments, but like I said, I will let him speak for himself.
I will publish his press statement right here on this thread as soon as he emails it to me.
I will hold my tongue for the moment.

Miguna's house girl has filed a molestation complaint at the Muthaiga Police station this morning and police are investigating. His new friends claim it is an assault case, but that is just an attempt to use mild language. What is more Oloo, now that you are in direct communication with Miguna, can he confirm or deny that Tony Gacoka paid facilitation fee for the Panafric Book Launch? By the way some of these things cannot remain hidden forever! Perhaps it's high time your friend stopped misusing your good nature to fulfill his nefarious ways.

Phil:
Please wait for Miguna's statement.
Even alleged murder, rape and for that matter, ICC suspects are PRESUMED INNOCENT and they are NOT TRIED on Jukwaa or elsewhere on the internet.
Don't you find it TOO MUCH OF A COINCIDENCE that Miguna's long serving employee makes serious accusations against her boss TWO DAYS after he launches another controversial book?

"What?!" ... That's as far as I read to decide that the important question is "who would want to frame this man now?" There were times Miguna Miguna would be getting a great defence of character here on Jukwaa. Times, issues and relations have changed. So shouts of "crucify him, crucify him ..." aren't unexpected. May the truth come out!

Oloo
You are a human rights activists who has had the previlege to drink tea prepared by this poor girl who Miguna reportedly assaulted.
Are you still standing in solidarity with Miguna on that?
Not a single word of sympathy, or condemnation, even as we wait for this statement which will not really change the facts according to OB records at Muthaiga Police Station?

Onyango OlooI also used to "GINENE" with my maid. Most men do that. Whether it's a rumor or it's true, it's no big deal. My pipe is full and my hemp-filled breakfast is ready. Maybe Miguna told her COME BABY COME, but the lady heard RAPE BABY RAPE. If the allegations are true, I would recommend that Ja Nyando vie for RUNDA County Rape. He has my vote. RAPE and ASSAULTS are ACCEPTABLE under any circumstances. Oloo, why do you always feel it's your full-time job to defend Miguna?? You defend Miguna more than he used to defend Raila. I hope you will not fall out and start writing books on him.

As for the launch being funded 'through' Tony Gachoka...is there any relevance to your celebrating his troubles? You should never kick a man when he is down.....I am sure you will be reminding me of this in 3 weeks time!

I am logging out now at approximately 14:51 Kenyan time (Gateway:give or take five minutes eh?).
Let the lynch leaders prepare the discarded tyres, purchase the match sticks and sprinkle the kerosene, gather other mobsters and prepare the make shift funeral pyre for Miguna right here on Jukwaa. Those of you who are doing that are in good company, following in the footsteps of outgoing Nyando MP Fred Outa. with his effigy burning pioneering public thuggery.
I will be back to post Miguna's Media Release.

RAILA ODINGA IS TRYING TO KILL MEA statement by MIGUNA MIGUNA on February 18, 2013 Let me at the very outset say that by the grace of God/Allah/Nyasaye I am free, alive and healthy – and at my home in Nairobi. In fact, I have not left my house the whole day today. I understand that there are despicable false rumours being circulated and disseminated by Raila Odinga and his agents that I have been arrested and is in police detention. I consider these rumours to be the height of desperation of a man who knows that his campaign has reached a dead end. Fortunately for Kenyans, rumours and propaganda – which is what Odinga excels in – don’t vote and will not vote on March 4, 2013. I would like to disclose to the public that at about 6:30am today, my nephew who lives with me informed me that our house help confessed to him last night as they were watching my K24 TV live interview that Mr Odinga's agents, who used to be my bodyguards – Odhiambo and Anyul – offered her Sh1 million and gave her poison to put in my food this week. They also offered to give her gargets to tape all my telephone conversations, my conversations with third parties who visit me at home and to report to them details of my movements. My nephew reported to me that the house help stated that she was considering these offers in view of my “attacks on the Prime Minister.” Apparently, she claimed that I was responsible for the wave of rebellion against the PM in Luo Nyanza. At about 7:10am, I terminated the house help’s employment in writing and paid her the monthly salary of Sh10,000 even though her pay is not due up to the end of February this year. She signed the termination letter voluntarily. There was no physical contact between me or my nephew and her. Interestingly, as she was signing the termination letter and pocketing the money, both Odhiambo, Anyul and high ranking officials from the Office of the Prime Minister were busy calling her mobile telephone. I then decided to detain the two mobile phones so that the police could investigate this serious matter thoroughly. When I asked the house help to put her things in a vehicle so that my nephew, who was present throughout, could drop her at the bus stop, the lady refused. Instead of allowing my nephew to give her a free ride, she walked away and left the compound. I have been informed that she was seen entering the home of a senior ODM cabinet minister who is my neighbour and the boss to one of the agents who have recruited her. I felt that was quite bizarre and telephoned my area OCPD, who responded within one hour, accompanied by the DCIO. As I was giving my report and statement to the police at my house concerning the latest plot to kill me, the press started calling and texting, claiming that I was under arrest at the Runda Police station. Of course, I wasn’t. I was at home – and I am still at home. Interestingly, I am told that the house help arrived with two junior police officers and the press in tow at my gate as I finished my statement at about 11:30am. However, when invited inside, she boarded a motor-cycle, which she had come with, panicked and left. Reports reaching me indicate that she went straight to the Office of the Prime Minister’s Building and is apparently sequestered there, perhaps being debfried on the next malicious and mischievous plot. Meanwhile, the house help’s mobile phone kept ringing off the hook, with some of the numbers being traced to ODM cabinet ministers and senior OPM officials! Unfortunately, the assassins and plotters panicked and started putting pressure on the Police, demanding that I should be arrested and locked away. Your guess is as good as mine on why Raila Odinga and his thugs want to kill me – and when their plot seems to have failed – are now abusing their power and demanding hat I be locked away. He has also sent out his media hounds and social media goons to besmirch my name, character and reputation. They will not succeed! At about 1:20pm today, I welcomed about ten journalists who were camping outside my gate into the compound and addressed them stating the same things contained herein. I could see how disappointed some of them were that I was alone, at home, and addressing them in a relaxed and categorical manner. Let me conclude with two things. First, Raila Odinga will not win the scheduled elections on lies, propaganda or nefarious plots against his opponents, critics or perceived enemies. And secondly, I am not afraid of Raila Odinga. As I said before, I am ready to face him head-on. It’s unfortunate that he has reduced himself to a pathetic criminal. It’s up to him. I will, however, continue to expose him and to fight him with the only weapon at my disposal: THE TRUTH! Elections come and go. These ones won’t be different. But Raila Odinga must know that Kenyans are going to retire him on March 4th, 2013. He can choose to fight me and the books I’ve published through criminal goons or he could choose to address – directly – each and every factual claim in them. Te choice is his! Finally, I wish to reiterate that my life is in serious danger. I am asking the police to provide me with twenty-four-hour security. Thank you. MIGUNA MIGUNA Attachments:

I no longer like Raila. I stopped liking him two yrs ago. He blew up his chances of winning the hearts of Kenyans during his tenure as Prime Minister. I personally did not like the way he threatened KTN journalists at Kibera during the height of the Corn scandal. I also do not like Uhuru Kenyatta but I would rather have him as president. Uhuru and Ruto make more sense to me than Raila and Kalonzo. My choice of president is MWALIMU Dida. He said something I have been teaching people for ages. EAT when you are hungry.
Anyway, On Miguna-Raila circus, I am a non-partial observer. I am filling up my pipe again. I enjoy such stuff when I am high. The only reason I get HIGH is because people are too LOW. Do you see how LOW people are?

Folks, lets not be too quick to judge. I find it very hard to believe that Miguna Miguna would do this, knowing very well how many powerful toes he has in the recent past stepped on. I mean, if I were him, I wouldnt even be caught ogling a MILFs(OO, I hope this description does not break the rules, if they do, let me know and I will gladly withdraw) legs, let alone assault the house help.

That is quite a statement from Miguna and as expected he did not fail himself!!
Okay his book was bound to ruffle feathers and it cannot have come at a bad time as it is now with a floundering campaign for Raila and his minions doing all that they can to resurrect it.
So it might not be far fetched in all that Miguna alleges but I would think I see the hands of Raila supporters than Raila himself. These are the guys that remain orphaned if Raila fails hence spoilers like Miguna need addressing. The problem is that at times like this paranoia is bound to set in among these supporters and Miguna being a great enemy of himself does not help at all! So we can hope on a couple of things, there will be no harm to Miguna of a physical kind, the police will investigate this matter fully.
In particular the originators of the 'rape' charge should help the police if indeed this charge is true but in the same stride the allegations of people calling his house maid to intimidate Miguna should also be investigated. The truth at this time should be found.
People's names are normally spoilt by rumour and innuendo and social media in Kenya has been abuzz with this rumour. The quicker this story is brought to a truthful end the better.
Miguna should insist on the police issuing a statement of the case including verifying his side of the story and if they are investigating him for rape or molestation. It helps people know!

If some body like Meeguna "detained" my "two mobile phones" as stated above, I would expect nothing less of a robbery charge being preferred against 'I disagreeailant'. Now that is a very serious charge. But this is Kenya and so much can be unpredictable.
Meeguna's statement above contains only 'half truths'. There is a lot that he has obviously withheld, which I can understand. One has to be careful when releasing such a statement, lest you end up shooting your own bare feet. But let us just give latest drama time to unfold naturally, shall we?
