MIGINGO: AFTER THE ZERO [RAILA] + THE ZERO [KIBAKI] = THE GCG ZERO, ENTER UHURU THE USELESS. During the historic presidential debate, a first in Kenya’s history, moderator [ Linus Kaikai I believe his name was] in a feat of clairvoyance, ripped open the soul of the republic and and confronted the clownish pretenders to take a A remedial shot: IS MIGINGO IN KENYA? He poked with lingering malice at the mixed array of goons arranged before him, seeking the hand of Wanjiku. Of the leading contenders, Uhuru Kajomo was the one to watch. Raila was incumbent and had had his four years to show his hand, and he had, declaring Migingo was just a piece of rock worth no war. Word on the street was, the Jaruo King was in Museveni’s pocket, just like the other pretender Ker [whatever his name was] had once been in the pocket of Moamar Khadaffi of Libya, then the Ker of Kers. With Raila thus incapacitated and self-impotent before the towering conqueror Yoweri Museveni, only the s/o Jomo was left to field the national flag of Kenya. ----He made promises, which went well around the fishing folks feeling abandoned by their own comprador elite. FAST-FORWARD: JUNE 2013. [Uhuru became president] From June 2013, the Ugandans made a major move. They arrested the Kenyan so-called security officers and brought the kenyan flag down by force. They administratively tightened their grip, imposed customs and, just as the KDF is now famous in Somalia for charcoal piracy and trade, the Ugandan policemen moved into the fishing industry with a vengeance. And just like our KDF in Somalia, it is a predatory exercise. They do not fish themselves. They wait for the Kenyans to haul their catch into boats, then they confiscated the fish ---and if you argue, the net and boats too: Trespass in Ugandan territorial waters, and illegal fishing. Currently, [extended] Ugandan waters grace the shores of Mfangano Island. Ugandan police have come unchallenged as far as Rusinga, not to mention gave notice at neighbouring Ngodhe islands, that they will be back, for taxes and other dues! ----One will get a hint of the situation should one read the daily nation of 31-10-13, which features a report of Jaluo sailors languishing in Ugandan cells, their boats, nets, and fish gone. 1 boat&nets and other gears plus fish, totalling ksh. 250K, is a huge loss in investment for a fisher’s sacco. And Word is, over at Siaya is no different, those who fish around the islands of Lolwe, Ndeda, Saga, Wayasi and further, are permanently harassed by speedy Ugandan patrol boats. Unchallenged by any Kenyan authority. The Ugandan police either protect Ugandans stealing fish and nets, or they ‘tax’ the fishermen of their catch. But recently October 2013, they have escalated: they take the Nile Perch or Mbuta at their own given /given price, effectively reducing the Kenyan fishermen to their slaves. The reasoning is the whole of that lake is Ugandan waters, so these Kenyans are illegal fishermen anyway! Fair game. In a fact-finding tour, I sailed from Mfangano to Ludhi beach in Sakwa Siaya county, to record the complaints and compare with those from Homa Bay county. A long time ago at Migingo, before the world started , a Ugandan police captain whom I happened to know ----I spoke to him in a bit of Kinyarwanda, gave it to me straight. 'Uhuru Kenyatta is on the phone daily, bugging and nagging M7 Kaguta to lobby the others, to save his bloody arz from the ICC hook.' Probably M7 being a wily operator asked his subordinates what, in real cash, the Nile Perch trade is worth? I inquired? The Ugandan cop looked at me, and said: ‘You loose! We are officially here!’ May be correct or not, but it is a thought! But those who Know M7 will smile. NB: By August 2013, the Ugandan police terrorising Kenyans around Migingo and closer to our shores, could rub it in into general consciousness. ‘What will you do? Report to your Commander in Chief? That one is a baby, crying and begging our M7 daily to save him from the ICC! Bure Kabisa, huyo Uhuru wenu!’Bure Kabisa I think can be translated to USELESS ----without Onyango Oloo grinning at me, for having let a ‘bit of mother tongue’ seep into my understanding of Kiswahili!] So the political-economic understanding of the reproachment could be, that Kenyan waters are mortgaged to Ugandan sailors, and M7 fights Uhuru’s corner. That is, just like Raila was in M7’s pocket, Uhuru Kenyatta too, is bagged in a trade off. Luo Manyala and Suba sailors sold down sea. I caught Uhuru Kenyatta declaring security to be his big deal during the Shujaa day speech, Peddling mlango kumi as if he were some colonial DC troubled by Mau Mau. I later caught him emotionally and ferociously defending the KDF in their thirst-quenching, nation-saving operation, which the vile media reported with mockery galore. Hmm, your excellency, Here is one for you and your terrorist-munching tough generals. The Ugandans occupying Migingo and lording the surrounding waters openly tell us you, HE CIC, are useless and the KDF officer core, mannequins in a toy shop. They are better coordinating the looting of supermarkets and burning down the scene of the crime to conceal evidence! There you are sir, a Useless commander in chief with his useless generals! Broken Pidgeons for play with the catty paws of Museveni. The sovereinty of Kenya cries for one to hold high the national flag over all her domain and restore honour. It wont be yout, Uhuru Kenyatta. May be it will be Ruto, the warrior. Just as he (rofl)ejected madoadoas from the Rift Valley, may be he has the iron heart to replant the Kenyan flag on Migingo, and chase the Ugandan weed now growing fat and bushy there! I will be back! After a watery sacrifice at Magogo rock, deep in the lake past Ngeye island.

Uganda to Tax Migingo Fishermen Sh80,000By Justus Ochieng, 16 November 2013 .http://allafrica.com/stories/201311170056.html There was a boundary commission launched, with tens of millions of shillings to survey. ---I am surprised these two trouble shooters are mute on its findings. But for today, let me, with tongue in cheek, warn this Ole Lenku boy, about issuing decrees about lake business. They first have to ascertain whether police commander charles Naragwi and the regional coordinator Francis Mutie, have a PHOBIA FOR WATER or not! I am personally tired of blind-folding policemen from desert regions as they get disoriented in rocking boats on the high waves, and start to vomit as if in malarial attack. How about choppers?Well, if you have no serious agreement with the ugandan commander on site, be sure he will confiscate the chopper, and sell it on to some tycoon in his country ---or deliver it as trophy to M7 himself! So, Mr. Ole lenku, you may be a tough Maasai running hotel attendants and very circumcised! but beware of the lake. A Ugandan speed boat once rammed our ramshackle ferrying some senior cops to Migingo [ in those days Migingo was in Kenya but the waters around it were in Uganda --so read Museveni the law, so we were technically in tresspass] and we had to pamper them like babies when the boat nearly overturned. The look of contempt on the Ugandan faces nearly made me grab a gun from our cops and do a spray on the fwacking Ugandans! Then theyt took our Kenyan flag at gunpoint, cleaned their waragi-matoke asses with it, then dumped it into the water! ---'' ka ng'a matek onyono kuesi meru, to meru ema iloko idhawone kendo!' when a strong man kicks your mother's legs, you turn around and quarrel your mother: Mum, why do you ever place your bones in peoples ways? That is Ole Lenku and Kutuny seconding in for Uhuru and Ruto on Migingo!

A CANCEROUS ROCK GOING MALIGNANT, WHERE ARE THE DIPLOMATS?
Sometimes it takes a small event to puncture a carefully concocted facade. What then remains is the comedy of putting up appearances, and occasionally the helplessness of self-derision by authority to release the pressure. On the latter is where we classify the quip by Uhuru Kenyatta in Israel, echoing Mugabe, that we Kenyans are expert thieves. If graft were on Olympic sport, our national flag would reign supreme, capturing on all three slots.
The El-Adde overrun by Al-Shabaab is an event too profound, and I leave it outside this range of small pin pricks.
What I have in mind is the arrest by Uganda police officers of Kenyan IEBC -Independent Electoral and Boundarries Commission--- officials, as they went about their tasks registering voters in Migingo Island. It is a small event, but you will be surprised at some of the reasons Uganda is pulling out of the Oil leg of the LAPSSET! Remember the most economic route is not the consideration here. K1 (Kagame) is going with M7 on this anti-Kenya trip. Prudent Kagame, it is worth a think what he thinks why against this But the Japanese are constructing Berths in Kenya so obviously they want surety business to regain their investment, for one.
Migingo is a miniscule, useless peace of rock prone to cholera epidemics. But beware cancerous cells that metastize to kill a whole body, like East African cooperation. That is one possible casualty.
2. Uhuru and Ruto are young leaders, so called digital. But here they are confronted with an old problem like prostitution, a territorial dispute. And have you seen how, on this, the eloquence of the man who campaigned 24/7 in Kericho and Malindi weeks on end, is that of a BUBU as Aden Duale would put it. And the commander in chief sworn to defend every inch of the territory? Aaah, Migingo, vilevile pwani, si Kenya, one might think he thinks. --No digital solutions here.
But it is an inherited hot potato. The mysterious one together with the genius from Othaya proved impotent when Museveni called their collective bluff. But now Luo Mpigs are out calling on Jubilee to state its position! Really? We all know the position of Jubilee. It is the same as the Raila-Kibaki position of yonder. And those who have memories will remember (was it Linus) Kaikai in the historic presidential debate: IS MIGINGO IN KENYA?
I listened, I remember all the answers. Not bad for certified vermin and woblly infants. But there are questions men or women who aim to be commanders in chief of their nations must not dodge, even when they be as dodgy as Hilary or Bill Clinton in character.
Watch that useless rock surrounded by rich fishing waters. It is a festering wound, will go septic. It is easy to solve, long before its pathology gets out of hand and needs surgical excision. Sh 140M to read maps for arbitration did not work! That is a vacuum waiting for a real man to arrive. The other sister countries are ganging up, preparing. They know the current crop of fakes running Nairobi are not the real face of a determined Kenya. I think we all know that. And tiny Migingo illustrates this with subtle deadliness. A pit more dangerous than Somalia.

M7's M'BOYS CALLING NKAISSERY'S BLUFFIf one considers only the internal situation, our local sheriffs are pretty tough boys. I can upgrade that to they are fire-spitting mean beasts you do not want to come across anywhere. Consider Joseph Nkaissery, the Jubilee cross-over from ODM. Currently this unprincipled defector heads the most corrupt ministry in the land, and that is the one in charge of internal security. The man is ready to roast alive governors Ali Hassan Joho of Mombasa and Amason Kingi of Kilifi for some partisan reasons. He treats them as outlaws worse than(MRC leader) Omar M wamnuadzi. But how about a closer look at theis sheriff? Did I catch the ex General speak even in a squeak!? No, M7's boys call his bluff and prove him a fake. Nkaissery picks his fights with care. Very wise of him. The Ankole Longhorn M7 is of course an international laughing stock. He brought his capital city Kampala under siege (sieke), disabled media and communication, blanketed the land in darkness so that he could steal the already useless elections and crown himself the cattle King. This local degenerate needs to deflect attention from his smelly self and, apparently, is desperate enough to escalate a local quarrel with weakly Kenya. The submissive, supplicantish, docile and near foetal position adopted by the Kenyan bosses over Migingo, has only incensed the sadistic instincts of the horned if not horny bully. He is going to ramrod the docile Kenyan CiC all the way to intestinal reparative surgery. The pot-bellied naval captain fit for the maternity ward I leave out of it for now. Omamo too. I want them more in the gym, less in the kitchen and the dinner table, and in any case far away from Migingo. I do not think they would find this Island in a nautical briefing of Kenyan shores, Ocean or lake. But Joseph Nkaissery is of course a temptation. This is the man who, by THRC records, is a ball slicer and, so that the bad guys just know who is bad, dangled corpses choked from a cruising chopper, high in the sky. --And these were fellow Kenyans. Now, given that CV-run, one might be tempted to think foreigners would fare worse if they fooled around with him in his tour of duty. The Ugandans are not impressed. They have set upon Nkaissery's boys, disarmed them, and beat them to pulp, and, asking their own imported fishermen to join in the ritual humiliation, treated kenyan officials as if they were fish thieves by jamming fish bones up their nostrils. Not only have they banned the Kenyan flag from the Island, but, contrary to agreement, they tore it down and showed their contempt for it in ways too painful to narrate. But where is our conquering hero Joseph Nkaissery? No, he too is a form of local bully, a frog croaking in a pond, but a total nothing in the wide lake or the ocean. M7 and his brother Salim Saleh would serve him raw to fish, and therefore his studious silence, and business collecting pistols from, in his opinion, treasonably elected MRC adherents. It is a vacuum at the top. So what do we do!?

THE FASCINATING HORIZONS OF MIGINGO, between the devil and the fishy Deep If one were to perform an act of academic abstraction, the Migingo issue becomes a powerful skeleton on which to build an interrogation of the nationalist(s) problem(s). Consider these arrays of the nationalist realm 1. Kenyan nationalism. 2. Luo nationalism 3. Uganda nationalism 4. Pan-Africanist nationalism. I do not have the time to consider the last except to remark: the borders giving rise to the dispute between Kenya and Uganda in this case, are a European affair at Berlin, conferencing around 18 seventy something. The earlier adopted OAU chapter instituting those borders as eternal in the post colonial period, has its advantages and insecurities, just like the Picot-Sykes of the middle east and Arab lands. The Somali people, spread over Kenya, Ethiopia and Somali proper, may just be our budding Kurds. With the kind of ethnic obsession in Kenya, and the uncohesive state of Ethiopia, it surely is on the cards. 3. Ugandan comprador state nationalism, its appetite whetted, its expansionist instincts emboldened by its resource annexation and exploitation of helpless Congo, has become recklessly aggressive, smelling an even more impotent leadership in Kenya than in the former Zaire. The Ugandans also read the internal Kenyan situation correctly. The elite is too divided, too tribally in rivalry to make a joint fist, a so-called national effort or front to thwart Ugandan expansionist designs (kinyume cha AU charter!). This drive is limited at first, but could be massive when the real deal happens, like annexing Karamojong oil fields, aka Turkana in Kenya. The Kenyan leaders can also be bought in their narrow tribal hatred to betray the national state interest. Which means as far as Migingo is concerned, it is a Luo affair to Uhuru and Ruto. A show very far from their beds. They are not going to loose any sleep over it --not that Raila does in any more measure anyway. NB: In Garissa campus, 147+ students lost their lives easily, exposing a tale of corruption at the top of the police force. No consequences. Recently, around 200 military personnel were sacrificed at El-Adde. Again a tale of misappropriated security funds. Kapedo too is in the list with its 50 krutus. No consequences for the top lootenants. What, pray tell, is Migingo worth then to the Kenyan elite? Migingo with its fishy, 500 dirty cholera-risky mad Jaruos? Nah, Uganda can sure wipe them off like Al-Shabaab El-Adde base, and who would care? Business as usual. Useless Migingo or the $4bn pipeline? m7 asks UK. Thinking of the dizzying opportunities for business, patronage graft and commissions, it is a no brainer for Uhuru. I gotta know when a deal is done and I slave man is sold. And what was that again Raila said in Bondo? That will be the comprador Luo nationalist bankruptcy. I will be back.

THE NAKED KING BOASTS OF HIS BATTLE DRESS
Ng'a matek onyono kuesi meru, Idhawo gi ng'a? Museveni okwalo Migingo osoyo e ofuke, Jotend Kenya ere!?
---The large bull form the neighbour's herd has invaded your home to chase away your own weakly bull who then miaws helplessly from outside the fence. M7 bellows the new situation in Migingo.
I like to think I have a sense of humour. That I can enjoy the humor of politicians, and have my leg pulled, pulled the much for laughter. But listening to Raila Odinga at Bondo on Migingo the other day, I ran out of room for small talk and thought. I felt like the famous Ukrainian peasant collecting his thoughts after taking a look at the Romanov Czar, Nicolas.
A rehash:
The Ukrainian serf had been indoctrinated from of old the emperor was a great man, a Romanov deity in fact, and he had embeded this deep, much like some-not-too-smart Ismailis today might perceive The anti democratic Businessman, His Fakeness The Agha Khan, as a kind of god-man. Godman he aint, Moneybags he is. anyway, word was Santa Nicolas would sort out Russia, patience please, sort out her manifold problems. And the facts were hostile.
Russian polities and provinces were starving, Russia was loosing the war against Austria-Hungary and Germany (just as it had earlier lost to Japan over the Manchuria crisis). Soldiers were deserting in droves, recruits were forcibly going to war with antic rifles, not to mention old home-made shoes. And children were freezing to death in the winter because of no heating. When the Ukrainian low-born finally set his eyes on the Mythical Leader, the one whose magic wand supposedly would wave off all the problems, his natural reaction was a sarcastic laugh, a laugh which punctuated a flash of revelation. Nicolas looked sick, weak, frail and insignificant. He was an overwhelmed man; in the instinctive evaluation of the peasant, The Almighty Czar was but a god long dead. Those Muscovite Menshevik and Bolshevik trouble makers had a point worth looking into in some detail.
As Da Ker Mayardit Raila told the people of the lake gathered in his Holy Bondo village, that, given the failure of the distracted Muigai boy to do anything, he would lead a 'march' to reclaim Migingo from the clutches of long-horned devil M7, I couldn't help a contemptuous twitch of lips at this top quack. Something had drained up my sense of humor.
Politicians can and do say outrageous things. And I may not mind being taken for a ride in the sense of entertainment, but I think during a crisis there is a level of absurdity which is not done, which is very demeaning. But that the Luo King of Kings, Ruodh Ruodhi, Agwambo the Mahia (or The Mysterious One as B6K would prefer to have it), confronted with this Migingo thing, could only come up with this kind of laughable response to try assuage his base, confines him in my opinion to a clownesk podium no less silly than historical artifactsof amusement like the ever feuding Luo Kers --Jodong Aich. It is ideological bankruptcy.
In Mwai Kibaki presidential terminology: Bure Kabisa, mavi ya kuku zaidi
Beating tamtam drums when his house is on fire.
There is a real crisis out there. It needs responses compatible with reality. It has been running for some time, the perpetual Uganda provocations. We know Nairobi -the Uhuruto regime, is too much prioritised elsewhere. The oathed duo can be discounted as part of a solution. Not only do they lack any thinking on this, they have neither emotional nor a voter interest in the whole. Their oath of office to defend the sovereignty and dignity of Kenya must be taken with a pinch of salt, and for the realists, dismissed as essentially meaningless, at best laughable comedy too. So on the side of solutions, current Nairobi is not a factor. Defense lady Omamo, fatefully Nyar Bondo so to put it, has just made it clear Uganda is a friendly country and, as such, is allowed latitude on the island and waters around, wherefore Recho's fellow mad jaruos should behave in sisterly fashion, suffering without bitterness as it were.
That is clearcut enough. Loud and clear.
Reality has thrown a powerful test for modern Luo nationalism captained by the comprador. It takes an external force to precipitate beyond denial, a local crisis. Migingo.
Ng'a matek onyono kuesi meru, to thuol bende odonjo e ko! Encha itimo nade?
Museveni kicks our but trusting in his military superiority. -Our response can only be asymmetric.
But it is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the worthlessness of ODM thinking.

Just what value is a small rock in the waters of the giant Lake Victoria that would make Kenyans too excited that they would even wish for war?
All I know is that Kenya is not going to war anytime soon with Uganda over a small rock whose economic benefit to the country is negligible and people make noise over for no other reason but misplaced chest thumping.
From an economic point of view, Kenya's trade with Uganda completely blanks out the economic value of Migingo meaning any action as envisaged by the enraged ones would be nothing short of stupid. The Kenya government knows this as does the Uganda government! I can assure you that if Migingo was sitting on a billion barrels of oil, Kenya would have transferred its military from Afmadow and Kismayu to fight for that little rock. But it is not.
The meeting on Monday at Ikulu discussing the pipeline to Lamu completely ignored the small rock and that gives you an idea of how un-important that rock is to both countries! So good people of the lake, National Pride sometimes has a price...and Migingo is perhaps just one price that you need to pay for the economic benefit of your beloved country....!

Kamalet,
That M7 of .ug and UK of .ke sat, drank and fornicated themselves to an oily mess after a rich and carefree banquet, all without a voiced thought over Migingo, needs a complicated reading. For one, that is a life in denial, an elephant in the room invisible, but whose sensitivity is effecting decisions about an oil pipe line.
Then there is another deeper trouble. It is trouble which, as the saying goes, sits along and farts on a table overloaded with goodies, much as the heroes at feast continue in studious obliviousness. That trouble in this case is called Principle. And when one breaks a principle, the price is never cheap. Pragmatism is not a foolproof alibi. And what really is a principle worth?
What kind of leader encourages his people to enjoy life under the boot of a coloniser? Answer: vassals. Uhuruto, and, come to think of it, Raila$Kibaki!
As he raised the bible to take the oath of office, neither Ruto nor Uhuru bothered to insert an opt out clause. like -Deemed useless pieces of Kenya inhabited especially by none-Jubilee voters, more so mad Jaruos who are not known to cherish circumcision, will not be accorded the full defense protocol of territorial sovereignty. In addition, should a foreign state annex such worthless rocks, and in the process annul the dignity and Kenyan statehood of the said group or groups, this oath of office to defend every inch of Kenya will be null and void. It is a selective aoth! Some kenyans are lesser!
You catch me Kamale? They didn't bother design a pragmatic opt out of the principle of territorial autonomy --respective lesser Kenyans like yours truly. Now that they do it in office, it that neglect becomes treason. It is legally possible to proceed to impeach Uhuru Kenyatta for failing in the holiest of duties of a head of state. This is what CORD should do, so that Jubilee is forced to mobile its tyranny in parliament, to state clearly that they are happy to pass the rock as a present to M7. Good riddance.
THE OTHER NARRATIVE ON THE BLIND SIDE
Uhuru Kenyatta likes to talk of Unity. Social cohesion. There is some wound to mind, were he serious. He has some bad history with Jaluos which this episode of callousness respective Migingo will not help. His father Jomo is held responsible for the murder of the Luo star Tom Mboya. That is a hot grievance not to be underestimated. And in the wake of that murder and KPU pandemonium, Old Jomo boycotted Nyanza forever to death, his heart harsh and bent on exacting vengeance by neglect. During PEV -2008, wrongfully or rightfully, the Mungiki who roasted Jaluos in Naivasha are believed to have been facilitated by young Kenyatta's money. That is lots of bad blood. Fast forward to 2013, and the same kenyatta is suspected of rigging Raila out, the man whose father stood down for Kenyata the father, at independence.
The Uhuru Kenyatta I don't care attitude to Migingo therefore fits a narrative of antagonistic hate, a pattern of mutual alienation which mocks Kenyatta's exhortations to Unity. It is a dangerous faultline. But the good thing about Uhuru is his honesty over Migingo. He does not care. That is important because he further precipitates the Luo nationalist crisis. Luo nationalism does not have the luxury of not caring. We Luos have to sort ourselves out first. Outsiders are welcome to laugh at us for the moment, as our Migingo brethren feel as lonely as the Palestinians under the Israeli boot.
Nairobi is far away, in fact further off than Kampala!

Nairobi is far away, in fact further off than Kampala! on the two red high lights going a bit to our history we may get some insights from David Ndii's article below excerpts. The meaning of Prof Ogot’s pronouncement should now be clear. It is a failure of the imagination. The failure to develop and propagate a national narrative alluring enough to nurture a “deep, horizontal comradeship” beyond the tribe. The reasons for the failure of Kenyan nationalism is a subject for historians to ponder. When the history is written, four squandered opportunities will stand out.The first was a decision by Jomo Kenyatta’s Kanu’s administration after independence that wealth was more important than people. Jomo Kenyatta himself metamorphosed from an erudite fiery nationalist to a parochial acquisitive tribalist. The second opportunity came in 1992. The transition to multiparty politics afforded the Opposition leaders opportunity to set the country on a different political trajectory. Tribalism got the better of them. The third one came a decade later in 2003 when the country elected Mwai Kibaki on a platform of inclusive politics. Kibaki tore up the political covenant, tribalised the government and went back to the post-independence doctrine of wealth above all else. The Kibaki administration’s belligerence and political thuggery brought the country to the brink of civil war. Ironically, Kibaki ended up with exactly the same cohabitation in his second term that he had refused to honour in the first. NEW CONSTITUTION The fourth is between the enactment of the new Constitution in 2010 and the 2013 General Election. It is a period of contest between the political values espoused in the Constitution — democracy, rule of law, transparency and ethical leadership on the one hand, and tribalism and corruption of the past on the other. Tribalism and corruption triumphed.www.nation.co.ke/oped/Opinion/Kenya-is-a-cruel-marriage--it-s-time-we-talk-divorce/-/440808/3134132/-/yrd7n0/-/index.htmlso in a nutshell we need to stop imagining we are patriots and agree that we are nationalists (read tribalisms) who hate eat other with a passion. it was Charles de Gaulle who said 'Patriotism is when love of your people come first. Nationalism, when hate for people other than your own comes first.' to what extent should we embrace the fact that Uhuru hates Raila just like his father Jomo before him hated Jaramogi and when stretching it to their ethnic enclaves they have poisoned those around them to return the hate favour with relish? what are some sample sources to support this narrative? is David Ndii wrong when he writes?.... The Luo Nation. From Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Ochieng’ Oneko, Tom Mboya, Argwings Kodhek, Robert Ouko and Raila Odinga— no other nation has sacrificed so much for so little in the name of Kenya project. It is perhaps fitting and inevitable that it is a Luo intellectual who pronounced the failure of the project. I think it is about time that the Luo Nation asked itself whether it is not time to cut its losses. If the Luo Nation channelled its considerable human capital and political energy to the development of Luoland, it will without doubt be an enviable nation and economic powerhouse in no time. www.nation.co.ke/oped/Opinion/Kenya-is-a-cruel-marriage--it-s-time-we-talk-divorce/-/440808/3134132/-/yrd7n0/-/index.htmlso now what? is the above source reliable, recalling that Bethel Ogot said 'Project Kenya is a failure' 10 years ago? what are the perspectives? why are they important and who may support or disagree with with the sources of these perspectives? what are your own, deep down? what argumentations and evidence can one adduce to embrace the narrative being advanced? back to the two red highlights

If the Luo Nation channelled its considerable human capital and political energy to the development of Luoland, it will without doubt be an enviable nation and economic powerhouse in no time.

so now what? is the above source reliable, recalling that Bethel Ogot said 'Project Kenya is a failure' 10 years ago?
what are the perspectives? why are they important and who may support or disagree with with the sources of these perspectives? what are your own, deep down?
what argumentations and evidence can one adduce to embrace the narrative being advanced?
back to the two red highlightsProf Podp,Keep in mind: David Ndii being an economist like my brother in law MAN-K with whom I eternally quarrel on his siter's refusal to master the techniques of making firm ugali on a jiko-stove, one life-time is an eternity. 5-year development plans are, since the demise of the soviet union, something of a museum peace. 5 years is a millennium in duration to most financialists. These are the people who run banks and ministries of finance and, of course, the Greed called the world economic system. Multinational Concerns offer quarterly figures which are all important, as they are all determining for a CEO's score in the rat race. The CEO's are changed and are interchageable like paddies after child birth. Long-term? In politics this once core definition has become restricted to the next election; in economics it is no longer a concept, otherwise they would be whipping us silly on the race track to save the overheating planet Earth. Mother Earth is sure hurting, and could just give up on us destructive kids. In the long term we are all dead, economists cynically remind us, whereupon religious zealots who believe in life after death, eternals, patronisingly smile at them economists, and have them along on errands the way one might a kid. Historians of the old mode are a bit like geologists. They can easily talk of a 200 year period as transition, for instance from one pharaonic dynasty to another. An interregnum. Or that it took the Roman empire 500 years to fall. May be times have changed and rates have accelerated, just like money devalues over time. Whereas the Nelson Mandela famous ANC was formed in 1912 ---few have heard of John Dube, but that is a by the way----- only in 1961 did it form the armed wing, Umkhonto Wi Sizwe, and only yesterday in 1994 did it come to power. If those who founded it thought short-term like the easy-give-up Bethwell Ogot, they would have abandoned the struggle years ago and surrendered willy-nilly to sore fates. Palestinians too would have cut their losses and succumbed to enslavement. Nowodays, Africa rising I suppose, we talk of a new phase emerging in Africa's historical decolonisation. Urbanisation and proletarianisation are key variables. The anti-colonial resistance which ended (1960s) with the flag independence was 500 years in the making, since Vasco Da Gama in the 15th century. The Luo nation has not seen anything yet in her Kenyan adventure meseems. More about that presently. What I think --- assuming Tanzania has a more developed state-nationalist consciousness and social cohesiveness, Zanzibar a question mark---- is that states like Kenya dilly-dallied too much with serious steps like Nyerere took, and thus Kenya opened the proverbial field for a thousand flowers/weeds to bloom. Ndii Okew Kaoch Wuon gives a good summary of the missed junctions. This all means a vacuum was created for 'frustrated tribalism' festering in economic stagnation to investigate other options outside the stunting Kenya, options to owe its total allegiance to and invest its dreams in, like in patriotism normally does. One logical option was for these emotions to develop into tribalist movements with a fearsome loyalty to the tribe -this is a period in the formation of modern nationhood, a transition from tribe to nation. The Mungiki is such a modern movement in the formation or radical but fascitoid socialisation of disenfranchised youth into aggressive Nyumbani loyalty. And it radicalises The Others in the same parochial way! Me contends the Gikuyu, like the whiskeyed Highland Scots up Nothumbria, are now a nation. No such thing as a tribe. So are the Luos. Kalenjin, Kamba too. The Maasais are a bit late, but they are coming. Increasingly radicalised by the rest of the pack ahead. (This is the wolfpack which has moved into the large tracts of Maasailand which were swindled off Laibon Foolish Lenana, and are not about to go justice about it without a figure like what again is the nickname of that Chenjerai Hunzvi guy in Zimbabwe's land imbroglio?) Anyway, the evolution (by default?) of these tribes into warlike nations within one imperial basket has created a fearsome disloyalty to the central Kenyan state. That disloyalty takes the interesting form of fighting for the centralised state power in Nairobi, but only to use it as a looting device for the tribe. In whatever formation, the comprador never are purposed to harness the central state to compete others going places ---like South Korea or Malaysia, or even Taiwan. No, all they do is loot, marginalise and oppress the enemy within, the other tribe without, as they erect a new caste system of exploitation and slavery. And their battlecry is hysterical homeland unity , a fascitoid dead end. This is the colonial trap, where the English tribe of Kenya erected the state to sustain their colonial plunder and accrued privilege. It is also the trap entered into by the white tribe of Africa, the Boers. They used the state to institute apartheid, a privatisation of the resources to themselves, which made them the master race over the sprawling black servants. A racial caste system. The Kenyan clientellist political elite have learnt a thing or two from these forced caste shake ups. But not before mass action threatened to tear Kenya apart unless change came. A minority tribe dominating the state and marshalling the resources to themselves only, wont work no more. The rebellion will be fast and furious and widespread. A coalition which tallies to an electoral majority is needed to mediate the looting, to stabilise the social imbalance and injustice by widening the support base. This is where we are with our tyranny of numbers. This is an ideological device or electoral alibi to loot with impunity while electorally, marginally popular. It i still built on the fundamentals of exploitation and theft, and therefore must be sustained by keeping the tribe in unity, zoned, otherwise the majoritarian electoral result crumbles, and with it, the whole enterprise. This is the deconstruction of the hysterical unity as called for by Ruto and Uhuru in ever more strident tones. Independence or multi-party within the tribe, community, is a very dangerous idea. Treason in fact. (This is how to explain Miguna Miguna's kangarooing in the Luo court) This current hysteria of 'tribal' unity by other means is a re-run from a well known director's cut, it reminiscences the hysterical calls to WHITE RACIAL SOLIDARITY as downtrodden Africans became increasingly restive under colonialism. Whites who as much as voiced the possibility of the colonial order being bad, became suspect, if not branded commies! -spoilers. UNITARY KENYAN STATE NATIONALISM OR ETHNIC BALKAN STATES?In the nature of human development and history, nothing is a foregone conclusion. What is, is human action. A desperate, motley crew; an amorphous amalgam of heterogeneous notoriety's can be forged into a nation
state. In fact, even if one used the word tribe derogatively as the colonists did, a tribe too can be forged, and that is what Chaka the Zulu for instance did. Forged the Zulu tribe, or nation as the case may now be. The tyrant was a Unifier of sorts. A man of distinct purpose. Happenstance? Howbeit most nations have such a figure in addition to a martyred one who stood up to an enemy of overwhelming force, and died a painful death -like Jesus-- later converted into a wildfire legend. The crucible or blast furnace where nations are forged is, more often than not, a horror untold. This is why I say the Luo nation has not seen anything yet in their Kenyan adventure. And why I think the Great Ogot prematurely imploded in pessimism. There are other leaderships thinkable to handle the same reality different, from the comprador who seem to be the only class Ogot can percieve of to run things. Continued later. FN: footnote: All across the globe, even as new great blocks are formed --EU, TIPP, NAFTA, ECOWAS, ASEAN, the local trend is balkanisation. Catalans want out of Spain, but not out of the EU. Scots want out of the United Kingdom, but not out of the EU. So I gather the GEMA can have their Mount Kenya Switzerland but still within the EAC, unless, like the Swiss and Norwegians who wager the European Union is a corrupt Banana conglomerate, the gema are really of a tougher breed as Soyinka would put it, and opt out of an EAC where buffoons like M7 call the shots, and one has to baby monsters like Nkurunziza.

Continued I mused, considering the short history of Kenya, that Luo nationalism has not seen nothing yet. I will highlight the experience of the Igbo and the Tutsi for a reference of just how dark post-colonial Africa can get for a peoples. Disgruntled, hurt and sulking Luo nationalism be and behave, meseems an average therapist can pull her pronto into the party, and soon she would be in gleeful abandon, looting herself to an orgasm and total incapacitation. The sulk has not gone to the bone. The sulk is not heating the blood. If it did, the people of the lake would not be lorded over by such a corrupt herd of governors: --Raila okelo devolution wayako. --The crisis has not caught thought yet. Compare for instance to the Gikuyu in peasantry mode, when they woke up one morning to find the Queen of England owned all their lands --at gun point. And the worst crisis of it all is this: this was land given by Almighty God, Ngai, to his chosen First Couple, Gikuyu and Mumbi; and here was race of albinos crawling in and, with utter disregard to the Gikuyu God and his holy plan, erecting their own order -of religion, of hierarchy and property. Then, to all practicable purposes, they were there to stay for eternity. The moment of realisation that this alien culture had a superior dominating ruthlessness which could not adequately be countered by hitherto known responses, was a bewildering shock, indeed, the Things Fall Apart inside the heads of men moment. An existential crisis for a nation. Colonialism informed in not too subtle hints, that it would use TOTAL GENOCIDE to have its way, and land, and import slaves. This kind of proof in reality, that ones belief system and even ones God, can be smashed by the first the best alien rogue, and without consequences, is one of the most terrifying traumas thinkable to a people. It sent the Mayas and Aztecs of the Andean into a 300-year shock called APOCALYPTO. (That is approximately how long it took for full-blood Indians like Evo Morales in Bolivia and Hugo Chavez in Venezuela to be the first citizens again! -El Presidente.) Reality proving everything holy to you is fake. That is the shock of renaissance thought. The evaporator of illusions. I put it then, that Luo nationalism in Kenya has not yet had a renaissance shock as profound as the Gikuyu cultural uprooting and disinheritance by the colonial landgrabber. ------Therefore the contention, that our deep sulks over the graves of the martyred saint and political genius Ounga Tom Mboya; the persecution and incarceration of Ramogi Achieng' Oneko by both colonial and post colonial apparatchiks; the deranged and unholy butchery of the brilliant Robert Ouko by Moi-KANu henchmen, or any other teary pick from the litany of sorrows drowning the hearts of the people of the Lake, gives us the gold medal in woe in Kenya's dark history, is, in my opinion, a dangerous fallacy to parade, even if nationalism is false consciousness that feeds on fallacies. Project Post colonial Kenya then! But Ndii's list of heroes, leaves out all the meat! That is as befits an elite's cultural alienation I suppose. Safe within the cannon's barrel. (--see footnote). NB: STOP ONYANGO OLOO. Last time I ventured here, the administrator promptly froze the thread ---it was at the behest of his Luo ballast. This was an ODM cocoon in Jukwaa riding the illusion of a Raila presidency even as the massive rigging of the primaries in Nyanza pointed toward a boycott of the project by a quarter of the homeland voters. They managed to buckle the materialist ideological rigour of Onyango Oloo and intimidate or blackmail him into what b6k calls a ' kumbaya', a card-carrying bleating heap of sheep! However, I was milder because I saw Oloo writhing under the pin. there! his legs found the ropes in time to beat the count. That was when I was explaining the Alice Lakwena (mystic) phenomenon in Uganda as a Luo shock and total witlessness, in coming to terms with the Yoweri Museveni emergence. Never in recent ugandan history had the Luo armies (Acholi-Langi backboned) been so thoroughly outclassed, outwitted and routed in combat. It blew the 'tribe' off rationality into mystic retreat. The nation withdrew in shock unto irrationality. There in, as part of a healing process, would men like Joseph Kony emerge. Then i ventured into the possible therapeutic reasons for the Obamamania in Luo polities! Oloo was eventually not persuaded by his fishy friends like Einstein to DELETE the thread! It became a freeze and blood-curdling warning, at least a compromise which saved me exiting Jukwaa -- like OtishOtish and b6k voluntarily have! I wrote I let the matter rest. I moved on, though of course privately I am an associate member of a Luo historical club, so the debate goes on elsewhere. Associate member because, as they say in high brow, I did not read Luo history. So I am a mere hobbyist thereto. (Nevertheless: the migration from (Up) Sudan to (Kavirondo) Kenya stretching over several centuries has given us 'Jo-Luwo' some of the most powerful formative legends. Of these, the deepest ones of course emanate from crises where the existence of the nation itself was under question, Some of these crises proved irreconcilable without civil war, and thus led to irreversible splits as resolution, for example the one captured in the back-to-back goodbye of the brothers Opir and Dipir ... (this variation is multiplex and ever repeated -Okal and Nyikal, Labongo and Nyabongo/Gipir --every sub-Luo group has assimilated and developed a variation of the same, as is fitting in oral tales and mythology that define a people.) I do not detect any period in the 50 years of proper Kenyan statehood in which the Luo nation has faced an existential threat --say like the Igbo of Nigeria faced in their ill-fated homeland rebellion under colonel Ojukwu.Mr. Nigeria Gowon and his chiefs of staff decided on a FINAL SOLUTION (yes, they had read modern German history). They would starve the Igbo to extinction, mopping up the remnant kids with bullets. The vultures are invited, grinned young Obasanjo then. The Olesagun was one of the most able assistants of Yakubu Gowon.I am just saying: The Luos of Kenya aint known sh!t yet. For starters, we have not even had an internally irreconcilable difference forcing us into a re-reading and a Kenyan theologisation of the Opir-Dipir stalemate ---the types of antagonisms which under hotheads lead to civil wars (like we see in Somalia, and or, like they say in the grapevine, faced Tutsi nationalism and led to the sacrifice of Fred Ruigyema, the man of whispered legend. The Tutsi themselves whisper the death of Ruigyema is what pushed Paul Kagame into the pathological paranoia that now runs Rwanda. It is that dark). In the unfolding tale of Rwanda the Tutsi nation faced a material existential crisis: physical extermination. Holocaust!? I said, comparatively thinking of events in post-colonial Africa, the Luo nationalism in Kenya aint known a damn stench of sh!t yet. --I think I have delivered the point now and I can revert tabloid. Me therefore thinks Bethwel Ogot was pathetically feeble on that pronouncement of lets us bolt. The manifest failures of a comprador leadership are hardly a national trauma in my estimation. In religion they say martyrdom is the lifeblood of the faith. Nationalism being a faith, and a dangerous one at that if we go by the sense of an imagined community, meseems the martyrdom of Tom Mboya, Kodhek and Ouko and the rest --and of course I am joking picking on those names because this is a comprador narrative, are forging elements or rivets in a developing ALTERNATIVE narrative. The alternative for which men like JM Kariuki too, died. Contours of a new world. -I am joking up there because there are other martyred names in Kenyan Luo consciousness, but they are too hot for the comprador mental outlook. Continued. Continued.

MIGINGO IN UGANDA, LA ISLA MISERE www.standardmedia.co.ke/article/2000195388/migingo-island-belongs-to-kenya-and-president-uhuru-should-secure-it-says-raila I have to revisit this post Because once more, the respective Luo governor -of the mother county of which Migingo is part, Migori, is busy beating TomTom drums while his house is on fire. He must have been stung by a small incident in the recently concluded Piny-Luo Cultural Festival, PLCF, 18-21 December in Homa Bay. (He has recently jumped ship to ODM and his opponents will hit him with anything, the occupation of Migingo included!) More about that later. But beneath the waterline of ODM political loads there is more at stake, and riding. It is like the Luo elite riding the ODM is being routed in the bigger picture, Sebeni and Ouru doing a double act like two columns of an IMPI formation. It is deeply disturbing Luo consciousness, over Christmas. It is amazing that as late as end 2016, Governor Okoth Obado of Migori is still apportioning the blame at Uhuru Kenyatta's doorstep. Uhuru is only human. Migori is the county at which a shoe was thrown at him. The tally of votes toward his election from Migori is Kuria-small and guaranteed without sucking to the recalcitrant and mad Jaruos. The son of Jomo is the recipient of all manner of insults from Luo politicians, the latest of which is from sister Millie of Mbita, popularly known at home as Amillo GesaGesa. Then, the most important, the son of Jomo is as good as an abdicated King, and should he be making the motions of a present-minded Excellency, I would wager that is just the forced labour of those who own him jabbing needles into half corpse to revv him up some. (you know, like good old viagra can help a lot of us men forget power failure and go on to cover a lot of mileage!) It looks obvious to me Migingo is something Mr. Kenyatta never heard of. The notion that because it is in his oath of office --to protect every inch of Kenyan territory, it registers and, thereto, he can be held to account on it, would be the stupidity of those whose minds bear no relationship to reality. Picture the Kenya navy. Picture the Kenya Army, or the Kenya defence forces at large as they are officially called. This --military hardcore---- would the instrument of action by a commander in chief serious on the oath of territorial integrity, if Museveni refused to surrender Migingo in toto. But now, fellow Kenyan, after you have pictured the KDF in detail: who --O who, name him, do you see ----Brigadier, Lieutenant General or Admiral---- who wont sh!t in his pants at the idea of taking a quit-or-face-eviction ultimatum to General Kaguta. We do hear tales of our lootenant heroes in action across, selling charcoal in Somalia and smuggling any contraband hot in the market. If Kiganjo produces Harvard-like business entrepreneurial cops, Lanet near Nakuru may not be far behind in such ivy-league rankings. But repossessing Migingo is a different enterprise altogether. Top graduates from elite amphibian schools! I fail to think of any! A fellow-Luo fisherman who had a serious altercation with some Ugandan cops who stripped his boat on the Kenyan side of the waters, told me the Ugandans had told him a man named Salim Saleh could push the border to Kericho and Kisii in the twinkle of an eye. The fisherman didn't know who Salim Saleh is, thought it sounded like Al-Shabaab types to him. Well, I happened to know a bit more about the special advisor Caleb. But the man can also talk for himself of course President Musevenis brother, Gen Salim Saleh is the head of the Operation Wealth Creation. PHOTO BY DOMINIC BUKENYA I do not know who Muigai's special advisor on security issues is, but it is probably Julius Waweru Karangi. If these guys couldn't find El-Adde on a map, and there more than a 100 KDF were lost, who in his right mind would expect them to know whether Migingo is in Kenya or Burundi? Located in ake Turkana or Lake Malawi? Nah, show me the Luo who thinks the national government is gonna sort Migingo issue out, and I will show you how rotten fish looks! Therefore the crisis of Migingo outs our elite, Luo elite I mean, for what they are in truth. Ideologically bankrupt, they can not cope with critical reality. They can not come up with an adequate response to a fundamental challenge. What remains is pantomime in the theatre of the absurd. When he was prime minister and co-principal, his mouth remained shut like a dead oracle. I hear there is an arbitration committee on it. But frankly, there is nothing Mr. Kenyatta can do about Migingo, there is nothing his co president William Ruto can do about Migingo, and there is nothing the Kenyan government will do about Migingo. Neither is there anything the ODM governments of Nyanza will do about Migingo, except blame Jubilee, as they themselves say stupidly outrageous things like How many divisions, Obado, do you have? as the question would be put in Rome!

MUSEVENI RIDES CLOSE TO THE BONE, TESTS THE WATERS!
By and by, bit by bit, the barbarian chieftain known as M7 encroaches ever deeper unto Luoland. --Let us not talk Kenya here. Kenya is another country, of poisonous milk but good honey. Kenya is also the land of mercurised sugar, a hand-shaky peace, much mpango-wa-kando love, and of course fictitious unity. Such a country can not be relied upon to defend her borders. The last time .ke tried a LINDA INCHI was in Somalia. Promptly El-Adde became the defence forces greatest military defeat ever. So let us make this a Luo domestic and forget the irrelevant state of Kenya. In any case, Nairobi is too preoccupied with 2022. That dictates more looting of the state even as hysterical tempers abound in a mock fight against graft.
A NEW CHAPTER OPENS AT THE WATERS?
Beefed up by UDF naval special units, the Uganda police are now fishing for Kenyan boats right to the shoreline of Siaya county. The Kenya police are no match as we have seen, which means the problem becomes a county's problem. And that is chiefly the Luo counties.
Our smartest brain in that ODM Paradise bureaucracy is of course Anyang' Nyong'o, the CEO of Kisumu county Kisumu county is the lead Luo polity. Thus the Emeritus Professor is the Lord Protector of all Luo dominions. Alas! the professor is too much pre-occupied with his domestics to be of any use against M7 and his naval Big Shots. Nyong'o's chief of staff, PL Ouya, is rumoured to have threatened to do a Kim Jae-kyu on Park Chung-hee NB: Kim was the chief of intelligence of the Korean Central Intelligence Agency. Park was the president of the republic. The tragic day, October 26, 1979, is worth portraying at some detail. There are massive tensions in the land. Economically the dictatorship has had stupendous success, a wunder! Historically their time is up, but they know it not. Things come to a head. But that was a by-the-way for some perspective later.
Yaani, I will insist, even before facilitating a 'wirtschaftswunder' with the proceeds devolution, the ODM bureaucracy running Luoland is already historically irrelevant. Not that they can recognise it, nay, absolute power as the popular party wields in Luo-Nyanza tends to foster delusions of eternity and infallibility.
Cornel Rasanga whose Siaya country has ceded all territorial waters to marauding UDF gunboats, is hardly worth mentioning except for the opportunity cost, William Oduol. So too is the book-keeping embarrassment of Homa Bay, the half-hog half-man Awiti. Between Homa Bay and Migori county is of course where Migingo Island, the original M7 sin, used to lie. The picture emerging is of an imploded elite, running a rotten and uncompetitive bureaucracy. That creates an administrative vacuum which a neighbouring power like M7's Uganda glides in to fill. ODM courtier monopoly politics, nepotistic tendepreneurial parasitism, waste of public resources and debt enlargement to primitive accumulation, is a feeding frenzy which leaves the land undefended. That invites for sooth, a creeping annexation. The vacuum thing dynamic. A HINT AT A POLITICAL ECONOMY
Nyanza is a large market for Ug Waragi. And Nyanza is also a stepping stone for the same to the wider Kenyan market. But the ODM political machine has declared a war on illicit brew. They are destroying super-tanks and super-tanks of Ugandan cheap brew, smuggled in over the lake. Word is Kenya breweries is launching a Kisumu plant and they want their MONOPOLY, and like the colonial government with local brew, reasons must be found to erase the competition off the market. That is a price/quality correlation, and these local brews cater to a lower-to-no-income sector, is a logic not yet entertained within the purchased political bureaucracy.
We are witnessing a blowback from Uganda. It is a kind of trade war. Ug compensates for a lost market by annexing fishing territory which is openly Kenyan. In fact, they maraud all the way to outgrowths of mainland Luoland! Just off Usenge the other day, just off Wich-Lum the other day. These are not like distant Migingo which is a so-called disputed territory! These new naval incursions are separate from the border issues. And there is more to the military piracy in the lake. --Fish!? Naah!
I will give a hint next.

Read more at: www.standardmedia.co.ke/article/2001287569/mps-want-migingo-row-taken-to-icjOrengo wants Migingo row taken to ICJBy Kepher Otieno | Published Wed, July 11th 201 IG Boinnet and his Ugandan counterpart Kele Kayihura (right) at Migingo Island in Lake Victoria. [Standard] Opposition leaders have demanded that the diplomatic tussle between Kenya and Uganda over Migingo Island be referred to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Senate Minority Leader James Orengo said on Monday he was lobbying politicians to push the Government to file the boundary row before the ICJ. Speaking in Migori during the burial of Senator Ben Oluoch Okello, Mr Orengo said the row over the tiny but fish-rich island was getting out of hand as Ugandan soldiers continued to evict Kenyans. The senator pointed out that even Somalia had filed a suit against Kenya over a maritime boundary dispute. "Cameroon and Nigeria once had a border dispute and they moved to the ICJ and it was resolved. We have evidence that Migingo belongs to Kenya and only this court can resolve the matter." Uganda flies its national flag on the rocky island and has posted military and police officers there permanently even though Kenya claims the isle lies within its territory. --@standard.
