THE DILEMMA OF THE KALENJIN THIEVES REVISITED
Rest assured there is no such thing like this tribe or that are the thieves, and these are the holies. Corruption is not like sex where we know Kamba women come on top. DPP Haji therefore defended himself stupidly before Abunuwasi Jeff, ticking off the tribal balance in his hot list. Social truth is all man is predisposed to take unfair advantage of power unless the consequences are too real. In the exercise of power, only sure negative consequences is the deterrence. Even in the Holy Church, deduced from the predatory indulgence of countless priests unto the bottoms of youngsters under them, it is not avowed moral aptitude nor assumed conscience which is the restraining influence. This is why organisations have codes of ethics, and states mus have enforceable moral standards, like the unfortunately defunct integrity clause inserted in our 2010 constitution. And, this tendency of human moral frailty, is why power is, in the theory of fair exercise, separated into independent, controlling and balancing factions. For it is guaranteed to be misused to excess.
Man knows himself well. Too well.
And therefore let us cheat ourselves only as entertainment. Temporarily fooling ourselves as relief is allowed for fun, to decongest the soul, like the poetic licence of artistic flight of imagination is allowed to create a deeper understanding of complex reality.
So for fun, let us cheat ourselves thus: The Kalenjin nation at large is being victimised in the ---dare I say KALONGOLONGO OR MOCK---- fight against corruption. This is urrently all the rage in town and bush. The investigations into the stalled, so called PHANTOM DAMS, is the latest example of the above exertion, and soon, we will see, the WHITE ELEPHANT project of an anti-Shabaab fence between Kenya and Somalia.
You no doubt have heard the latest.
That 10km of sparse barbed wire and ChainLink nailed to a few poles of rotting acacia, costed more than the wall of China Israel built to 'ghetonise' the Palestinians; costed more than the Berlin Wall the Americans built to ward off Mexicans, all in their entirety. And I wont say anything about the ksh.5B of high-grade aerosol (jet fuel), siphoned off tanks at JKIA. This is what forced the planes to do this
No worries, I said let us cheat ourselves for the laughts; it is for entertainment. Because Gilbert Kibe, Director of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, KCAA, is a natural comedian as seen above. Because, eat this on the same subject
We know ourselves, don't we!? Though it is possible KCAA Director Kibe doesn't know himself, and thus takes himself seriously even when he is casted as the national fool for the day. Anybody to vouch for Kibe's honesty except as a top comedian!?
I tell you there is no war on corruption going on in Kenya. It is all KALONGOLONGO tuk nyithindo!
So let us have our laughs when we still can. Reality itself is never much subscribed to fun. It rather tends to have a corrective bearing. Bills must be paid, otherwise debts too, and if not possible the normal way, then otherwise settled.
KENYA'S KALENJIN PROBLEM AKA WILLIAM RUTO
The political (economic) problematic facing the KALENJIN (comprador predator) elite is not too dissimilar to the national dilemma besieging the Kenyan political-economic elite in toto. I already framed it at the beginning of this thread, but I can rehash it quick, thus:
Given the general agitation throughout the land at large, how do they maintain the rule of THEFT and GRAFT, which is so profitable to them and their families? In the face of simmering rebellion and rising revulsion, howls and calls for capital punishment for state looters, what gimmicks can they unravel to temper down the lost tempers of the land?
Let no one be cheated. If them bandits are to pull it off, they will need Amollo Tinga at full throttle, all cylinders on. For all his apparent laziness and stupidity, Ouru Kenyatta's instincts for class survival are excellent. For all his doctoral thesis, renowned political acumen and workaholism, William Ruto has his wits dispersed on this one. As if the Gods want to destroy him.
A small matter of courageous investigation will have William Ruto arrested for theft and jailed.
This simple truth is at the heart of the firestorm in Kaleoland. Ruto must become fish in water. The only way to prevent his hooking and frying, to prevent the arrest and jail of the Singh, is to generate so much political polarisation so that, as it were, Ruto and his people are one, such that his arrest for theft becomes a POLITICAL NO GO, because it becomes instantly internalised as a clear and present danger to the Kalenjin nation at large: defend him at all costs! In other words, the BLACKMAIL CARD, which has been for years the popular talk in matatu's and bars, is activated: ---KIKUYUS BEWARE, you betray Ruto, it is all over for you in the Rift Valley!
So goes the folklore!
I said we know our country and ourselves. We live it and live in it. So even if our politicians do not put it in such clear terms as above, the codes, or should I say the rhetorical algorithms they use in their discourse, both in posh Nairobi media studious and funeral platforms in the bush, are a no brainier to decode for both home- and enemy town.
Have you noticed non of the best defenders of William Ruto are insisting on his innocence? No one is standing up to say: 'RUTO IS NOT A THIEF, AND I VOUCH MY LIFE ON IT!'
That is what I am waiting for to know these people mean business! It is an ideal I am ready to die for kind of speech! Otherwise, knowing our political lot, they are more of dogs paid to back a certain way, and when the money taps are closed, they will look for new masters to bark their way, and their commands forth. Slayqueen loyalties.
The defence now is: the anti-corruption game is one-sided. It is weaponised to kill off the political career of The Hustler, new Kalenjin King. This must stop. The game must be fair. The Kalenjin are being victimised. They are being finished! Go away evil Kinoti, shetani ashindwe Haji! Demons! demons! demons!
That is childish, and a little bit late. Jubilee was a 50/50 tyranny of numbers. Those numbers became fictitious in reality and Cebukati and Chiloba had to do the necessary topping up. They did, but still the LEGITIMACY QUESTION remained UNRESOLVED. The people knew it, Uhuru and Ruto knew it. Joshua Kutuny as much as told us the other day in Church. He badly disiparaged Raila to cover up a terrible admission: no one was sleeping without pills at state house with Raila Outside. (I paraphrase that as Ouru was daily topping a cocktail of substances including pombe and breaking down). And so the government knowing it was illegitimate, could not dare call Raila's bluff and reign him in for TREASON for his Kalongolongo act of open deligitimation.
From that day it was obvious the Jubilee regime was dead. Ouru decided he did not want to sleep walk to the end of his term. But Ruto went into denial and has since been throwing temper tantrums, as if the Samson option is the only one left for him.
No, the Kalenjin are not thieves, just some individuals; but, birds of the same feathers flocking together, Ruto's choice of lieutenants to build his presidential war-chest, was a particularly an elite corps of the totally amoral. These are guys who ate dams in their own backyard to phantom status. That fact can not be erased by hysterical denial ----ati victimisation when investigations turn hot; just like the maize issue which saw Kipchumba Murkomem shouted down in Eldoret too, can not be brow-beaten to irrelevance. Ruto's entourage reckon they must find a scapegoat, a huge one, and Raila will do for the occasion. He is a tested excuse their experience tells them. (Mau waterhead and the ICC question).
But the ground shifted a bit. Enough to require an alternative resolution.
In truth what shifted is the urgency of the DEBTS to be repaid. Jubilee in its first term went on a DEFICIT financing spree on infrastructure programs.
We can now say, hind-sight rich, infrastructure program was but code for PHANTOM PROJECT. The debts were in part an elaborate swindling scheme to finance the private greed of Jubilee bureaucrats, whilst leaving Wanjiku enslaved with the repay bill. It is neat, but a game with an end.
And not all end-games go according to script. The ground shifts.
A hint
And earlier
these are the real problems when money has been stolen, wasted but the debt pile stacks.
Some of these debts have matured. If they can not be repaid, they need to be re-financed, that is new debt engaged to pay off old debts. This downward spiral, or vicious cycle, has an infamous ring in classical economics.
One is forced by the pressures from creditors to sell the family silver, plug holes of waste, do away with leakages even as through taxation one slices the meat off the citizens, ever closer to the bone. Of course the mock rage of the Kalenjin thieving elite is just that, a paper tiger. Even their Kalongolongo threat at firing up of an (anti-gikuyu) XENOPHOBIC backlash should they and their project be a collateral damage in a parley with the creditors keeping the Kenyan state afloat, remains a bluff they can not pull.
WHY NOT?
Because the rest of Kenya, reading their game as the insistence on a dead-end LOOTING STATE, will fight fire with fire. Not a single Kalenjin would be left outside the Rift Valley. Should the Kalenjin folk in the RV be seduced and succumb, like Germans to NAZI propaganda of their invisibility, to the xenophobic nonsense and disease of the Ruto entourage seeking to keep their looting trajectory, it will be the rest of Kenya versus them. And they loose.
In Nairobi alone, the combined firepower of mobilised, grassroots ANTI-CORRUPTION RAGE uniting Kikuyus, Luos, Luhyas, Kambas, Kissiis, Somalis ---call it the anti-theft ALLIANCE, would make Nairobi and environs Kalejin free in a matter of hours.
We know our country, don't we?
That is why I sleep comfortably. Even if countryside folks are stupid, communities are not suicidal. It will take hysterical and impossibly manic doses of daily propaganda by their comprador elite to prime the Kalenjin for the all Kenya backlash. The countryside folk know who stole their dams. It was their own sons. If the most famous Nandi is Koitalel and his fame rests of fighting thieves with their big appetites on Kalenjin land, what makes one think that selfsame anti-theft consciousness can not be rekindled to punish homeboys who have stolen the water, right from under the nose of drought-stricken pastoralists!?
Heee, omera Rotich, Omera Ruto, Omera Murkomem, Omera Sang, Omera Sudi! --Who stole the water from your people on your watch? Is it not you, who now cry WOLF!!?
You are asking to be stoned to death by your own people, madhafakasz.
NB: culturally speaking, we are already telling the jokes in the staff rooms where all tribes mix and bandy local fables. Most of it is of course co.ck and puszy gossip. But for a change the going jive is: You Kalenjin brothers at home, you kill even a single Kikuyu, no Kalenjin will be left alive in the rest of Kenya! Don't let your mythical warrior cult misleda you like the myth of Aryan superiority led Germans to the destruction of their land under Hitler!
That is a good one, methinks. We do know our country! (how did we get rid of Moi!?)

Planes operating from Nairobi's JKIA seek fuel in neighbour airports
March 11, 2019
Airlines operating from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi were Thursday forced to divert to regional airports for fuelling as stocks of the commodity neared depletion.
The fuel shortage, which is expected to persist till Sunday, has been blamed on inadequate orders by oil marketing companies that sell directly to airlines.
In an interview Thursday, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority director-general Gilbert Kibe said a fresh delivery had arrived in Mombasa and was to be pumped to Nairobi, with normal supply expected to resume by March 10.
"We have issued notice to airlines and they are aware of the current shortage that we are facing," said Mr Kibe.

Crisis as Sh5 billion jet fuel vanishes into thin air
Thursday March 14 2019
The scandal of siphoned fuel at Kenya Pipeline Company deepened on Wednesday after it emerged that 51 million litres of jet fuel, worth Sh5 billion, has gone missing from the stocks - triggering an unprecedented crisis at Moi and Jomo Kenyatta International (JKIA) Airport.
Already, the Kenya Airports Authority has issued a NOTAM - a written notification issued to pilots before a flight - asking them to refuel at other locations until the crisis is over.
As the crisis continues, the oil marketers have been left in a quandary since they believed that they had a total of 61 million litres in stocks, only to be informed that KPC was only holding 10.5 million litres.

Uhuru presidency will sink Kenya into Sh7.1 trillion debt
by Samuel Gitonga September 26, 2018
The former Finance Minister inherited a debt of Ksh 1.8 trillion when he took over from former President Mwai Kibaki in 2013. This means that President Kenyatta will have presided over a debt increase of almost 300% during his ten-year tenure.
By 2022, the Jubilee administration will have presided over a borrowing spree of more than Ksh5.3 trillion.

Uhuru's 2-year loans surpass Kibaki's last term debt
Paul Wafula 23rd Jun 2015
President Uhuru Kenyatta's government has borrowed more money in the last two years than what his predecessor did in five years (last term).
Treasury data shows that by March 2015, the Jubilee administration had borrowed Sh874.5 billion between 2013 and 2015, overtaking Kibaki's regime, which borrowed Sh738 billion in the Grand Coalition's last term in office.
This debt is expected to soar further this year with the Sh569 billion the Government plans to borrow this year.
This will include Sh340.5 billion from external sources. Another Sh229.7 billion will be borrowed from the domestic market. A Sh118 billion loan from China to fund the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) is the single largest loan for a particular project this year.
