GIKOMBA MARKET GOES CHINESE, IS THE ECONOMIC TAKE OVER COMPLETE?Chinaman roasting maize in a nairobi street. At the next point of illustration as far as other aspects of the conquest goes, we will appropriately re-visit the case of Mombasa port. This, if you remember, is the sag of secret clauses, in which President Ouru Kenyatta was duped into signing the port away, like the Sri-Lankans who were guaranteed to default on their financial obligations to Chinese banks. One must be quick to notice the parallel expressed thus: just like the peripheries of the Eurozone respective Frankfurt, were guaranteed to default on their debts to the ECB and other big Neurozone banks. And of course, like in Greece, followed a FIRESALE of national treasures. It is important to understand this political economy of centre and periphery. And then the events in Kenya, Mombasa or Gikomba will fall into place. Then apart from the aforementioned gullibility of Uhuru Kenyatta, acted or not, willing pawn or not, He, as an Excellency oathed (and sworn) to take care of the national interest, allowed himself to be further duped into proclaiming the sinful and treacherous agreement, a state secret. This even as his instincts protested. If you remember his jovial promise to the journalist Masai. Caught pants down, since all such ---to borrow from Chinese nationalists on the occasion of the Nanking humiliations------ unequal agreements have the habit of bursting surface like boils from an incendiary syphilis infection, a spindoctor called Waita Nzioka pathetically concocted some chants to ward off the evil spirits. The Erinyes were howling for redress on the abomination executed by the President and his crazy handlers. But Lo, in a scene reminiscent of the drama involving Agwoturumbe, Ekuweme, The Sea-King and the coveted Ihouma, the Shaman's charms only opened further, the box of Pandora. Minutes before President Kenyatta flagged off the first SGR run, the puppet masters met at a Mombasa hotel a few Kilometres away, to click glasses to a looting scheme well on track. Here is how the DN reports it. Fascinating. It is this group Nzioka Waita was protecting when he told the nation live on TV, there is no way Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta was going to disclose the secrets of this deal. And just to underscore this point, remember in their reveal-all cat-fights or domestic squabbles, the TANGATANGA b!tches and the KIELEWEKE tarts have not touched the issue of the mysterious shareholders of the hushhush local company paid billions to bankrupt the country through this modern-day lunatic express. I can think of several reasons why this is a NO-GO for both Kieleweke and Tangatanga. The tragedy is right before our eyes. There is a body lying in state. There is a body of lies running though the state. The few truth-stops in between are but the contours of a coffin. But Kenya is not dead yet. She is alive and kicking, feeling the pain, looking for a foothold to fight back. We are easily setting the stage for a xenophobic backlash. When the economic collapse comes, there will be a racial venting, which will easily morph into cleansing. Can I supply data to buttress than prediction? Absolutely not. I don't have to be a meteorologist to predict rain. It will just rain, as a natural phenomenon. It is to predict exactly when it will rain that one needs be a meteorologist. I remember 2007 new years eve, after Mwa Kibaki's famous rigging and due swearing in: things became amok and hordes of ordinary Gikuyu folk domiciled in vast expanse of the Rift, were 'sent packing' in a process known as ethnic cleansing. There was some pent up rage to be vented I suppose. And, I heard tell tales, that on the fateful first of August 1982 during the hours of lawlessness, a lot of ordinary young males in Nairobi moved into homes of Indian occupants but not to loot. No, they had sexual accounts to settle on hitherto forbidden fruit. It is not a much publicised story in Kenya, but it is out there on the streets of Nairobi, for those who bother to listen to their country. Ever since I read Okot P'Bitek's admonition --- Go, listen young man Let your country tell you her secrets, and forbidden tales Pleas ay attention; and stop playing deaf!...................................... Ever since that Okotian nudge have I taken need to occasionally pay very close attention, too, to the skeletons in the notational cupboard. --Ans O the tales the clanging bones tell! In the recent Uighur rebellion in which Han Chinese found out not everybody is charmed by Chairman Xi's great thrust forward, one can also speak of a venting of pent up frustrations. At the street level in Urumqi or Lhasa in Tibet, both autonomous regions in name, what the natives experience of Xi's drive, is a cover for a new Han Tsunami. here is the worst-case scenario from a Western sourceDon't think it, that paranoid link in your head to HODUMA NUMBER manenos'! Personally I happy on one account. This is reality. The vigorous charge, or surge forwards of the PRC, is an event which leaves no room for ostrich politics. Tibetans, Uighurs, South China Sea neighbours, Kenyans and even Usians, must come up with an adequate response or be forced into compliance. The USA, still a super power by all measures, as represented by Trump in his hysterics Make America Great Again, is nearly freaking out at Beijin's approach, so I hold it not unique that a section of the cornered street hustlers, hawkers, maindi roasters, mkokoteni pushers, cobblers are so nervous they have raised a national hullabaloo at the new arrivals. We all know, the real fear is not that sidewalk maize-roasting is such a great career it needs to be protected as a national heritage, neither is mutumba-selling and counterfeit smartphone vendors, nay, the truth is simple. Men who have come from a continent so far away as to be another planet, to come compete in the dirtiest, lowest markets of Africa, hide within themselves a ruthless determination which shrinks the balls of Kenyans. There is something called guts in life. Combined with the desperateness of nothing to loose, one faces man at his deadliest as a foe. But with an emerging superpower behind him, it is easily as the tough frontier men who, in the USA at least, spearheaded the wiping out of the then red Indians. It is our instincts of survival activated which is making our balls crawl at the sight of Chinaman in Gikomba. Central Bank and the treasury, they already have in their pocket. Secret deals you have no right to know about, according to the Kenyans who signed them on your behalf, like President Kenyatta. NEXT: A POLITICAL ECONOMIC LOOK A vertical integration

The TIMES ARE SAD IN DEED
CONTAINED FUTURES
We are a designated market, a disposal area. A consumer nation, our apportioned role is to consume products from afar. There is no need to develop a manufacturing capacity, unless it is (1) a sector of so marginal profit the big guns are not interested, and (2) it is in a supportive role, calculated to further maximize the profit rate of the parent company in her original motherland. But increasingly these days of flush capital, global corporations pay tax nowhere. And nations compete to create an investment climate which means a race to the bottom of zero taxation. Otherwise, the most lucrative profession is that of consultant in tax avoidance, which in effect is smuggling money and clearing capital.
It is highly lucrative, because it is not punished. It is a white collar crime in the service of the greedy and mighty who, should we say, currently rule and define the world order to their pockets full.
But, minding our centre to periphery model, the ----political economic---- elite locally running the Kenyan show is uncannily a carbon copy, or a clone, of the classical typology of the auxiliary comprador.
This makes today's Kenya not much of a variation of the classical colonial model. It is a perfect match. The inability of a truly national bourgeoisie to rise is noteworthy. The primary role of the state to thwart that eventuality is also noteworthy. The attempt by William Ruto's team (TANGATANGA think tank) to characterise the Ruto vs The Handshake spat as a conflict between The Hustler Nation and Establishment Aristocrats, is a perverted play on the selfsame theme. Old Parasites must go to make room for the new lot. The control of the state is the best way to accumulate, as is recognised by the fact of the fabulous riches of all the past three presidents, Kenyatta, Moi and Kibaki. All career politicians, not entrepreneurs. But while the cream of the political lineage has grown and died fabulously rich, the citizens, subjects actually, have continued to indulge a life in squalor.
That crisis continues.
When nations advance, folks develop airs; locals become too proud to attend some menial chores in their lands of birth unless the pay is a dentist's. These abandoned chores would be like cleaning toilets at bus parks and airports, roasting maize on side walks, selling cut drugs on street corners, peddling unwashed arse in dingy joints near dark unsafe streets, buying and selling children for prostitution, and such like lowly strands of labour. When nations rise, foreigners and other desperados are usually then imported to be exploited, and ritually humiliated, in the lowly but absolutely necesssary labour fronts. (One who wishes to catch in, can read the UN reports of the abuses of the menial Asians working in the oil-rich middle east).
NB: A long time ago, the Luos had some peculiar cleansing rituals surrounding death. Only strangers of undefined backgrounds, deemed inferior, were employed to do the dark deeds. Some of these activities involved spending quality time with a corpse, well, not exactly cocophilia, but that was only because few men dare rise to the occasion under those chilling circumstances. But what has to be done has to be done, or at least appearances kept. So a caste of outcasts widely refered to as Jokowiny were headhunted to do the necessary.
I thought of this yesterday.
I thought of this yesterday when I heard Fred Matiang'i had been stung to action by the plight of indigenous Gikombarians. He immediately issued deportation orders to the Chinese men thriving around Gikomba market. It struck me as parallel to a situation in which the Luos are so desperate for the meagre earnings of Jokowiny, that they chase them away to reserve for themselves the dreary task of fukking their corpses as a last rite!
Desperate times!
It is therefore a mark of the horrific failure and stunted development of Kenya, that stuff like hawking mitumba and roadside maize-roasting are specialisations and professions which must be protected! Lest hordes of Kenyans go days without a meal.
You know when Malaysia was rising, they imported Bangladeshis' in their millions (as their Jokowiny) to do such menial chores. And when South Korea was rising, they imported Philipinos (as their Jokowiny) to clean up their sh!t. And when Japan was rising, they imported Koreans and Manchurians to clean their sh!t literally. (it is called a rim job if you really want the technical details. But alternative Japanese narratives as to the origin of 'bukkake' may also be an eye-opener to some. But this is a sociological paper off Jukwaa I think. In the beginning only lesser beings, read non japanese, were 'bukkaked.').
Matiang'i's heroics today therefore, for sooth, proved to us beyond reasonable doubt how low we have sunk! ---There is no depravity we wouldn't perpetrate upon ourselves! With no dignity, we are totally freed of a moral compass! Nothing is too low for us, we are prideless, nothing is too bestial!

2. THE DREADED CHINESE SCOUTS AT GIKOMBA Let us not beat about the bush. We are a kind of free-for-all market. In a total free market when you are the lesser in (terms of) Capital, you are the free meal. You will find the odds too much stacked against you, you wont compete, you will find the system rigged against you. You would be swimming with the sharks. You will be forced into signing and obeying a series of unequal and humiliating treaties, to turn over your people to drug addiction for the profit of conquerors for instance. And debt --- as in loans guaranteed to be stupidly spent--- is today in Africa, a continued instrument of financial colonialism. Yet debt, or credit to put it financially, is always necessary to finance economic progress, by financing the necessary investments. Starved of credit, an economy is stunted and ruined. This fact is the key to the declaration of sanctions which the USA always indulges to bring her opponents to heel. Revolutionary Cuba was slapped with a total embargo; Chaves' and Maduro's Bolivian Venezuela and North Korea have tasted the same wrath. The Islamic republic of Iran, a 'revanchist' Russia and rising China too, are now in the eye of the storm. These are countries whose leaders and models stand in the way of American supremacy. They challenge the concept of full-spectrum dominance. In other words, they refuse to succumb to American hegemony. For a smaller country like Libya, the leader would just be skewered, so Gaddafi went like Patrice Lumumba, and quite a host of unsung others: murder. We need must establish correctly, the position of Kenya in this hard and raw, cold and ruthless world. We must face the facts of our life, and existence in the world of the modern Capital market. Most importantly, we must explain why WE STRUCTURALLY WASTE CAPITAL, why we uselessly dissipate LOANS, all of which then means the people are structurally saddled with loans which didn't perform, DEBTS WHICH DIDN't FINANCE ADVANCEMENT. This means then, the people are institutionally too, saddled with a leadership whose historical role is TO SQUANDER CREDIT, defeat the national purpose and yoke tighter, the state into debt servitude. Where the German post-war leadership used the Marshal Plan loans to fire an economic miracle, the post-independence regimes of Africa (and Kenya specifically) did the opposite. And today, continuing this template of economic sins, we see the Jubilee regime in a spree of infrastructure loans like the famed eurobonds, only to finance a spree of pillage, waste and plunder by corruption. Today Henry Rotich, a man who only a few weeks ago was grilled days on end on masterminding if not colluding with the perpetrators of massive scandal of the phantom Dams, is the same who read the national budget 2019/2020. One must coldly import the chilling implications of such acts of irrationality. Here is another example of an irrational act whose explanation is simple: SGR The flag post infrastructural project was hijacked and turned into a looting machine. And Professor Mohammed Swazuri of the selfsame NLC, a scumbag like Henry Rotich of the treasury, held office until his tenure ended officially! One must import clearly the implications of such impunity. Repeated over and over, at every level of responsibility. And, I insist, one must dare think, of real solutions to such real problems. How such scumbags must come to their ends. (NB: I don't have to think 30 seconds on that myself. Coz I seen a man like Paul Kagame make short work of scumbags in less than two months. So never ask me what I think. I already know what is to be done, to make the top level of Kenya's mandarinate scumbag free.) Many Kenyans and even fellow Luos, have not bothered to take note on the jokes from other African countries, on the fact that the African Union settled on a Kenyan, Raila Odinga, to spearhead Africa's investment on Infrastructure. Personally I caught Paul Kagame's twitch on nose in Kinyarwanda. A Kenyan politician advising you on infrastructure? Remember what Old Robert (Mugabe said): these (Kenyans) people have universities which award degrees in theft and fraud. A lot of partners became worried, as in And therefore after more studies DESIGNED OUTCOMES The PURPOSE of these elaborate documentations is to make clear, that there are no secrets as to why OUR MOTHERLANDS STRUCTURALLY UNDERPERFORM. There is a local elite of administrators deliberately overseeing the designed outcome of FAILURE. The historical mission of TECHNOCRATS like Engineer Michael Kamau, Henry Rotich, Atanas Maina -----and now do all the scandals in the public domain, is to defeat Africa's wirtschaftswunder. For a very heavy set of thirty pieces of silver. Once we import that fact, of public debt deliberately designed to derail a nation's future, the chilling implications are clear. That the land breathe and flower, the sh!t will have to be cleaned out. And dumped down pit latrines, like Leon Trotsky did with the once godlike Romanovs. I said, let us not beat about the bush. TO MAGA, Make America Great Again, the POTUS Donald Trump has decided free trade is a dead-end for the USA, but a giant leap ahead for China. I other words, the Trump administration is running scared, and American conservative and imperial-minded think-tanks are shitting in their knickers at the advance of the dragon. In deed, it is a fact the dragon is the coming man, and with Trump having intensified the economic war on Russia too, the so-called Eurasian pact with China and Russia as the motors, spells doom to the tyranny of the dollar. That is Patrick Njoroge's reserve currency. The question then is: how do we, Kenya, race ahead with The Dragon? Can we race ahead with the dreaded monster, hanging on its coattails, and not as DIGESTIBLES in its belly, slowly being reduced to sh!t!? This is the fundamental question of our future. Sadly I propose to work on the premise it is a problematic beyond our current deities or Shaman's, The Trinity of Ouru, Raila and Ruto. WHAT DOES THE FEAR OF THE CHINESE IN GIKOMBA MEAN? It means a gut reaction. The tentacles of Chinese Capital are penetrating deep, percolating to the sub micro-level, ready to take on and take over even the subsistence, hand-to-mouth commercial activities like street level maize-roasting. That means they have as good as saturated other economic recesses of meaningful profit. But the expansion must continue. I remember once reading an article in one of the financial dailies. It went something like how the Chinese outgunned the Indians off Biashara Street. LUNATIC EXPRESS RAILWAY PARALLEL IN MASS IMMIGRATION FROM ASIA The Indians went under not just on account of aggressive Chinese conniving with a corrupt political class to marginalise them. No, the Indians went under because they never committed to Africa. They remained a caste, closed in an apartheid cocoon. Largely insecure and fearful of real or imagined black seethe, they EXPORTED their surplus capital elsewhere, to assumed safer havens, outside the reach of the greedy fingers of the KANU state thieves under Kenyatta and later Arap Moi. This heavy disinvestment is clearly visible in Indian dukawalla's remaining the kiosks they were at the launch of the modern city. Upgrade has been minimal inspite of roaring business through the decades. Profits were exported, not locally invested. It turned the so-called Indian domination of the Kenyan economy into a dangerous parasitology. And the cardinal evolutionary sin of complacency. When Kibaki looked further East, beyond the land of the Maharaja's, Shah's and Patel's, the lock was fierce, and the consequences a budding Tsunami. It washed the Indians off Biashara street and now reaches Gikomba Market. And with Jubilee a credit junkie and state officials promoted on their corruptibility, Kenyan small scale capital has been herded into the jaws of the dragon. There are hardly any joint ventures. It would have been great to have Kenyan construction companies in joint-ventures with the myriad Chinese construction companies doing stuff around, learning from them going bigger. As it is, even SGR toilet cleaners and ticket-stampers are imported from China. ----Why then make a big fuss of deporting six Chinese hawkers from Gikomba? Oh Matiang'i. Wheelbarrow pushers are imported en masse from China. No? Lorry drivers too, No? SGR Ticket-sellers too, NO!? And then somebody thinks it is a big deal if, at Ruto's next maindi-choma stopover, below the superman hood will be a Chinagal selling him the well-done cobs!? I am sorry folks, in this free market, Kenyan fish mongers, maize roasters, bodabodas, taxi men and prostitutes, must just compete like wheelbarrow pushers, construction kayamkonos, and lorry drivers are already doing. These others do not enjoy Matiang'i's zealost protectionism! (much as he fuzzed about illegal chinese hawkers at roast maize at Gikomba. Is it not so, that the SGR RAILAWAY STATIONS were all designed by Chinese? Does Matiang'i think then, when he pretends astonishment at somebody coming for China to roast maize as if Kenyans can't, that Kenya imports railway station designers from China, road survey designers from China, roundabout bridge and motorway fly-over designers from China, because NO KENYAN CAN BE FOUND TO DO THEM?Does the man seriously think JKUAT and Nairobi University departments of architecture and mechanical engineering don't produce the skills to accomplish such rudimentary and lowly chores like design Nairobi Rail terminal!? That is what I mean with I laugh! Think about it! I mean I didn't faile to notice that when the Chinese were doing the NYAMASARIA KONDELE AIRPORT FLYOVER, not a single student from the area polytechnic, nor Riat, could find an INTERNSHIP! All the internship positions were filled with imports from China! So what the fak are folks yapping about, maize vendors! Come, China man, do my cob of maize And let your sister do my co.ck nicely too Deep and slow like the dragon devours Kenya 2: WHY OURU HAD TO MOVE OUT AND GO AROUND AND ABOUT THE CONTAINER DEPOT.

THE PRESIDENT SHOWS SIGNS OF LIFE, BUT WHY NOW?
We should start with the old adage told by the African peoples to explain a certain unusual behaviour observed in frogs. It has got something to do with when such break cover.
Storms!? sensational! Nevertheless, fact is that is a very huge frog leaping about if you ask me.
I will therefore beg to think big about it.
After a period of hibernation, no doubt contemplating resignation, Uhuru Kenyatta re-appeared in public. He also, howbeit, appeared re-energised, his new-found bravado no doubt running on palatable inducements. These inducements are, no doubt again, within the working guesses of Kenyans at large, and the chattering classes in particular. Some palatables are of a viscosity easily transmutable to gas, laughing gas.
No doubts.
Uhuru Kenyatta cracks under pressure. The story is told when, to the horror of of his running mate, William Ruto, an infirm Muigai was bent by the pressure from Kibaki handlers. These implored him ---purely on national interest of course-- to surrender the ticket to Musalia Mudavadi, with Kalonzo as his secondant. Why they wanted Musalia was less to do with the ICC cases against the duo than the unease over William Ruto. Those fears have now re-emerged in public nakedness. These take the shape of the plot to stop Ruto ascending to the presidency. The fear is so deep the aristocrats would rather Raila than Ruto! pure national interest of course! Imagine! 2013 stop Ruto, 2022 stop Ruto!
Madhaf*kaz are scared sh!tless. Another big frog parallel if you ask me, up and down in the sun! It must be the trauma of the Arap Moi revenge. That KANU professor of politics taught many lessons. The passing cloud which stayed, reigned in and rained on the strong for a quarter century.
Damn!
Anyway, back in those days in the run to 2013, William The Hustler managed to slap the boy-king back to his senses. That was when Ouru woke up to shout SHETANI ASHINDWE! And Mudavadi stayed the joke he always was and continues to be. (The way he abandoned Raila in the run to 2013, and the way, 2018 January 30th he abstained from the peoples oath at Uhuru Park! very dubious!)
AFTER FLOPPED TRIP TO CHINA
After the recent flop of the China trip, the president went incognito. In deed His Excellency and his brother, the once prodigal and peoples' Raila Odinga, failed to secure more funds to be looted on extending the SGR to Kisumu, but the disastrous trip was overshadowed by the revelation of an active ring of smugglers running Congolese gold through Kenya. Quoting the former senate minority leader, the non-issue involved the very top of the land in collusion. And in deed to date, why the GSU was deployed in full to guard the house of sin in Kileleshwa has not been satisfactorily explained.
A non-issue no doubt.
Well, the seemingly revitalised Kenyatta went to the inland container depot and issued decrees. A few days later he was in Narok on Madaraka day 2019; again more directives escaped his lips faster than bullets off the barrel of an automated AK47.
Decrees! Directives! From the man who on the most important issue facing the land, corruption, had famously cried his impotence in public, thus: MNATAKA NIFANYE NINI? HAMJUI MIKONO ZANGU ZIMEPIGWA PINGO NYUMA!?
Waah! Behold, wasn't this a resurrection! (or merely the farce of a recidivisms to the days of what Omwenga christened roadside broadsides by DT Arap Moi, always in time for the SAA SABA news broadcast.)
Waah!
May be the head of state had taken time off the limelight to do some thinking in private, re-strategising and not indulging drink as the twitterati of Kenya will have it. May be the beauty queen of a spindoctor, Kenza Dena, was right for a change. The president had been away working, leafing through the Book of Populism. (Let me quote a Nigerian poet on this: working, like thinking, is not an activity one would associate with any Nigerian president one might care to mention, save two. I am not too sure that situation does not hold for Kenya. But you catch the wink!).
His Excellency also ordered payment procedures speeded up and cleared vouchers honoured immediately, so that those doing business with government ---like suppliers, can in turn honour their obligations.
Then would the stalled cash-merry-go-round re-ignite. ---Out there throughout the struggling land, there is a cash shortage. That is why SAFARICOM is doing hot-cakes business giving SURVIVAL E-loans to Mpesa subscribers, even for a day as low as to buy minimum shopping for the family for the supper.
And other sharks are moving into the market of ksh.100 loans on a day. One should know at the micro level, there are SOLAR LIGHTS paid per day, and sometimes the going rate of ksh.20 is defaulted. Those are the statistics some of us ponder and suffer no awe at Patrick Njoroge's Central Bank brilliance. (Dr. Patrick and team recently sold a new wave of Eurobonds quicker than hot cakes. The buyers know something we don't, unless we carefully study Greece. Her bonds were hot even as she hurtled straight toward insolvency! German and global finance capital was buying up Greece's debt because they knew soon, she would default and would be compelled to sell her best valuables for a song! It is called a FIRESALE. There was a killing waiting to be made after they hype of sustainable Greek debt!
I don't put it past Patrick Njoroge to be in mission, preparing the ground for a privatisation Tsunami of Kenya's resources when we finally run aground. Even Tsavo national park would be sold for a song to creditors, to make huge profit of. Same as JKIA, MOMBASA PORT, the KPC storages and pipelines, jetty's and oil refineries. You know there is no such thing as a free meal in this world. But the way we have squandered loans would seem to indicate we think we are an exception. Kenyan exceptionalism we will christen it.)
But that is a story for another chapter.
Madaraka came then, and there was the president catching on, perhaps instinctively, and giving directions to start up the cash trickles to the small man.
Now, that, such powerful decrees stated in authoritative vocals, amongst other vigorous make-believes, is for sooth a parallel to a frog jumping about in broad daylight. I propose we oughtta listen to a great African proverb and hear this: what is scaring the living daylights out of such a frog to make it croak thus in the open, even if it is so big, we call it Its Excellency?
I am game, NEXT:

Jakaswanga,
Many greetings after so many years!
I just wanted to ask what it feels like to be talking to yourself on Jukwaa without anybody contributing to your 'great' threads?
Remember, you came, saw and destroyed Jukwaa or am I wrong?

2. THE DREADED CHINESE SCOUTS AT GIKOMBA
Let us not beat about the bush.
And debt ---as in loans guaranteed to be stupidly spent--- is today in Africa, a continued instrument of financial colonialism. -------------
next: 2: WHY OURU HAD TO MOVE OUT AND GO AROUND AND ABOUT THE CONTAINER DEPOT. Einstein, WHAT IS SCARING THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS OUT OF THE FROG, THAT IT CROAK THUS IN THE OPEN? The answer is as old as the trade in human meat called prostitution: bills to pay. Debts that can't be paid on schedule. The children crying in hunger but the father is lost, lost to drink or other passions of irresponsibility. Creditors snarling and sharpening knives. Pounds of flesh demanded. Defaults that threaten, and mandates which, in their wake, threaten to be lost along with legacy. A SUMMATION OF THE POLITICAL DEBTS CRISIS1. There is the HANDSHAKE PORTFOLIO and the dues owed Agwambo. Agwambo stabilised the economic climate and political status quo. He has loaned Ouru his legitimacy. He did this by a concession to betray the peoples' oath he had taken. This is a debt the size of the current peaceful mandate which, arguably, has saved the unitary state, so far. 2. There is the Uhuru Kumi, Ruto Kumi mantra of Jubilee's launch. This is no folklore but a statement of fact and pact. It is a historic debt incurred by the MOU which was not only the foundational stone of Jubilee, but also the binding matter of the Uhuruto ticket. The consequences of blowing this MOU up are potentially more dire than those of Kibaki's with Raila. Kibaki reneged, narrowing his social base and forcing his handlers into rigging the next election. Kenya reaped the bloody harvest of the seeds of betrayal at the top. There had to be a GCG (Grand Corruption Government) as a stop-gap measure. 2b: If both Tinga and the Singh want endorsement of their succession ambitions in return, that is a hell of a dilema splitting Ouru's head. Choosing who to betray, and why. 3. And this I think is the worst. A host of Mount Kenya children, and they are notables, are wailing inconsolable in hunger, but The Father is lost, to drink or other passions of irresponsibility as the case may be. Uhuru Kenyatta's detractors from his backyard, Mount Kenya business so-said, are pointing out: LOOK! The Muthamaki has abandoned his people! --BASTA! Perhaps we should have listened to those like David Ndii who said voting-in the son of a famous land-thief is to ask for more misery! We need reform! a. ----His Handshake is leaving to their lot the Gikuyu diaspora in the Rift Valley. b. ----His economic trajectory is wiping out the once thriving, once-ubiquitous Gikuyu Small-to-Medium businesses in Nairobi and its environs. (The Dragon is breathing fire and burning all before it, loaded with aggressive capital and guts. The jubilee policies are starving the SMEs of cash, and if the cash is available, his banks are charging loan-shark rates! In addition the taxes due to both local and national levels are experienced to be at expropriationary levels. c. ----And then the terrible biteback of corruption everywhere. THE KRA Here the mess at the KRA needs a special attention, that is a political economy of how a rotten tax house demoralises genuine entrepreneurship, anywhere. Outgoing KRA Commissioner General John Njiraini. NB: There are various layers of bureaucratic extortion which, public secret, was the specialisation of the Njiraini-ran KRA, The Revenue authority. There is today a new man at the helm of KRA, Mr. James Githii Mburu I think, but he is an insider heavily tainted with the past rot. His rise is therefore more of a palace coup marketed as a clean-up operation, having deserted the sinking ship, Njiraini, just in time. A hint worth repeating, because the Revenue Authority, The TAXMAN, is at the heart government finances, Business environment and general entrepreneurial issues. leakages! like the Kenya Pipeline ones which stretched to ksh.23 billion in ... was it two years under a man named Ngumi!? How did the John Njiraini rise to be the King of Rot in such a sensitive institute? Not by chance. There is documentation in the public domain. Some saw it coming. Here is a detail with a sting in the tale: NJIRAINI WAS HANDPICKED in 2012 BY THE THEN FINANCE MINISTER OURU KENYATTA! Call it a linkage. This Ouru Kenyatta's capo boy, immediately went rogue. He took to abuse and misuse his position to wreak havoc amongst a host of very successful Gikuyu business bigwigs in Nairobi and beyond. This is why I was fain to highlight the illustrative grief of this man, NJAMA WAMBUGUNjama Wambugu is just one brave man who couldn't take it no more and dared stand up against 'disinheritance from his empire by state Mafioso aligned to Uhuru Kenyatta'. People like the Mpig of Kiambu, Moses Kuria, if they bothered to go on record, will tell of countless petitions from MK businessmen and women who petitioned and lobbied Gikuyu Mpigs to have Ouru's golden boy sacked long ago. WHY? In Luo we say PAKA KOLOKORE RADO GUENDGI. The cat that went rogue and started feasting on chickens from own homestead. -----Forced take over's, forced mergers, forced transfers of shares, all the muck and rack of parasites running a gangster state. What Mungiki used to do on the ground, Njiraini and his gang were doing at the top. And a wide sector of the victimised Gikuyu business fraternity wailed: WHY HAVE YOU ABANDONED ME, O MY MUTHAKI!? Raila Odinga could not be blamed for that wail! And if you are a leader and you run out of scapegoats, you are going to be changing gears, or you yourself will be changed. Last but not least, there are the usual criminal gangs in the city running a blackmail and protection racket, preying on already diminished profits. And these are of course different from the regular Police Units who, also, run parallel protection rackets. For instance, you don't run a Mpesa shop in Nairobi without a 'ritual' chat with an emissary from the 'merry-go-round' force. Just as once upon a time you din't run a matatu in Nairobi without paying dues to the Mungiki franchise. Nor, Kenya wide today, do you run a transport business without a bundle of cash to pay toll at every police roadblock, and sending 'ritual --HANDSHAKE-- greetings' to Mkubwa. Sema tu sadaka, vile Ruto piea hutoa kwa kanisa! NB: I must say in my sociological forays into the political economy of petty businesses in the city, I found out small scale traders and petty retailers prefer police extortion to Mungiki-like gangs. (John Micchuki, this sector burns candlesticks for you, to rest in peace in heaven, Amen!) Because with police extortionists, one can argue, negotiate discounts when business is bad, and even pay later, because the customer base, poor too, are not paying cash but taking stock on credit. 'Afwande, pesa imepotea Kenya hii. Ruto napeleka yote kulipa mungu hongo kwa kanisa; nae Ouru na Raila China. Sasa hakuna kitu leo, utarudi siku ingine, unless utachukuwa fegi ama sukari ile ya sumu!' I was idling time with my MK sister in law who runs a kiosk in Nairobi's Githurai and these were the dialogues I was attending. And the coppers just took what was on offer. Better times will come, hopefully, and the Lord provide more! They are watu wa mtaa, you know, they know there is no money down here in Kenya today. They know one can't press blood out of a stone, however hard they push. And anyway, even back in KavirondoLand, as a transport road warrior, I only stop for the socials when business is bad. 'Afwande, wewe ndio leo utanipigia fuel! Rotich naiba yote hakuna peza iningia county!'This kind of thing ceased long ago to be a national scandal. The reform process died, and along with it, attempts at a new code of small scale business operations, sans extortion. Anyway, mostly the police get along fine with petty traders. It is a live and let live. --It is amazing to hear police officers apologise for the state violence their colleagues meted on the public during the election manenos. (Then we discuss why interior cab-sec Matiang'i wont apologise and we laugh some more with folklorish wit! It takes a true Christian soul to do a mea culpa, Matiang'i is a devil worshipper! Into blood sacrifices!)And then 3B: THE CONTAINER BUSINESS MESS This is truly important, because it has been the last straw which broke the camel's back so to speak. A thriving sector staring doom in the face. Next.

3b: )i( THE CONTAINER BUSINESS MESS
Before I continue with the marathon monologues which irk the likes of Einstein to death, I will register a little irritation.
For some reason I have always liked Sabina Chege, and Cecilia Mbarire. So I don't like people who make Sabina cry, more so outside the other joys one might provoke, if they know their way around G-spots. That is why at first I was very angry with a section of the people of Muranga when the news broke, but i have now regained my calm because .... of this moving correction ... of joy ... And this additional tear-jerker calmed me like the aftermath of a good orgasm That's my joy, Sabina. And with that, who am I now to badmouth Ouru, a man whose deeds can arouse such an intensity of emotions in my Sabina!?
But well, I am the jealous type. I would rather it were me sending Sabina to such torrents of joyous tears!
So lets ride.
Ouru has to move or be changed. The frog is on an instinctive run of survival.
Word was the blame of the dwindling fortunes of the Gikuyu business fraternity had come to be apportioned. Ouru Kenyatta was the party of guilt. We should say his policies in principle. A hitherto very powerful and influential segment of the Mount Kenya community were fingering him. At his rise, Murang'a and Kiambu cliques had stood to a man behind him, projecting him, THE MUTHAMAKI, as PRO BUSINESS, even better than the arrogant don and drunk from Othaya, yes, they sang he was the next best thing to the Gikuyu entrepreneurs of Nairobi, since Andrew Ngumba or Margaret Kenyatta I think.
This hommie euphoria soon turned to ire. The ire to material hurt, or distopia. This is the constituency forcing the likes of Moses Kuria to speak up, even rebel; it is the same forcing yet more MK Mpigs to throw their lots, to find their futures with the TANGATANGA crew. The once-thriving Gikuyu business community whose domination of the container industry is threatened by an array of Jubilee missteps, lays the blame square at Ouru's feet. Jubilee corruption and inefficiency is a business killer. The Muthamaki has left them to their lot, most importantly they can't compete the Chinese on neither IMPORT nor RETAIL, without a kind of state protectionism which is not forthcoming. On the contrary, the thoroughly corrupt and 50/50 cannibalistic bureaucracy seems to act in cahoots with the corner-cutting Chinese to wipe them out.
They are thus orphaned; they are at the mercy of the new invaders. And these ones can not be shaken down like the usual caste-consciousness-ridden Indians. These Chinese are frontier hunter-sharks who fear neither black puszy nor black c.ock. For them it is all in. These are a breed out to become the biggest tribe of Kenya, by a blood mix. They are here staking it all. That is why they are living in shacks with local women and digging gold in Macalder, Migori. Or sleeping rough and re-organising Gikomba.
The situation is, at its most dramatic, reminiscent of the arrival of the whiteman to declare the land of their ancestors, his highlands, and the ancestors, reduced to monkeys and wild game to be inmates of a reserve or colonial zoo. But the wages of quislinghood can never be underestimated in Kenya, there was a collaborator class of locals that did very well out of a facilitatory role to the settlers and their capital.
From that hurt emerged the Mau Mau.
CAPITAL CONSOLIDATING THE FOOD CHAIN
The Chinese are of course vertically integrating. A usual MONOPOLY practice for total market control. It is aggressive frontier capital, its tentacles probing every nook and hook to plant a new sucker on the host. In this food chain of container import for instance, there is no room for, TONGUE IN CHEEK, the Murang'a people who like to say they own Nairobi, let alone other MK fraternities of, tongue in cheek, legendary business acumen. From the source (Chinese factory) to transport (Chinese shipping company) to retail (Chinese warehouse and wholesalers), to Chinese street outlets (Gikomba vendors and hawkers), there is no room for Kenyans, not least, independents.
Ours is to buy. Ours is to consume. Not a labour reserve, but a consumer reserve.
And so we enter the paradox which produced the Keynesian project: if you have no income, which translates to zero purchasing power, how are you going to be a consumer in a household goods market? How will the demand curve rise? And the economy shoot up more?
First option is of course a credit binge. LOANS LOANS LOANS! to finance a consumer boom! (Check Rotich's latest budget against projected tax incomes! There remains a large deficit there to be plugged).
But meseems without a radical reform to restructure the economy to SUBSIDISE DEMAND and somehow inflate the consumption graph without the risk of a debt collapse, the masses of the land are designated to economic outlaws. ---Soon as creditors come for their pound of flesh. And them debt collectors sure must come, like the day of death.
It is a bomb we students of history only know too well how it has always been diffused in the past.
Continued.

THE PRICE OF A PORT JOHN POMBE Magufuli CAN'T, WONT PAYBut Ouru, Ruto and Raila will force Kenya to pay! There are these situations when it is an event from further a_field, that shine even a better light on your local situation, thereby helping you to generate a deeper understand your own world. That is the President of Tanzania on the proposed port of Bagamoyo. Negotiations with the Chinese hit a deadlock. Rais Magufuli is explaining to a Tanzanian audience why: in short, 'MASHARTI MENGI YA AJABU, KICHAA TU NDIYE ANAWEZA KUYAKUBALI.' But that 'agreement ya Kichaa', was already signed by the ex-president, obviously a kichaa, Jakaya Kikwete. On his rise to office, Magufuli read the details of many of these 'investment agreements', saw in them a NANKING TEMPLATE, and sought to RE-NEGOTIATE them. ---'we have been played for too long!' he breezed! Then-President Jakaya Kikwete with China Merchants Group Vice President, Dr Hu Jianhua (left) and Oman executive president of State General Reserve Fund, Abdulsalam Murshidi, (right) at the laying of a foundation for the construction of the Bagamoyo port. PHOTO | FILE JOHN Pombe Magufuli is pretty open and straightforward about the DETAILS, the FINEPRINTS of the contracts: he lluminates all the bones o f contention. Which brings me to the REPUBLIC OF KENYA, and the presidency of Ouru and Ruto, supported by Raila. The TRINITY. I re-visit the Topic SGR, MOMBASA PORT, LAMU deep Port and the LAPPSET CORRIDOR manenos. And then to the spokespersons KENZA DENA and NZIOKA WAITA. THE KENYAN TRINITY PACT OF SECRECYIn Kenya, nobody need know the details .... the collaterals .... tabbed to the Big investment projects! Ouru Kenyatta himself, least of all, I doubt knows. William Ruto himself too, and Raila Odinga too. The details they may know is what they are paid to keep the deals secret from the people. Period. And there we have the BLUNT word from TZ: KICHAA! The VICHAA vya Kenya in their pact of secrecy. Kichaa is translated variously as madness, crazy, lunatic, unsound mind, or another Swahili explanation, 'kichwa mbichi', unripe mind. I think I can state without a doubt, the rulers of Kenya and the cartel which controls them, recognise if the details of their agreements with Chinese companies are made public, they will be proven to be VICHAA, in this case a clique of people so greedy they lost their minds. Calling a spade a spade, Pombe Magufuli style. NB: we all know William Ruto is an eloquent man, loves to make his points in public, and recently a doctoral from Chiromo. But this illustrious politician with his future still ahead, has avoided the Mombasa collateral issue with the zeal of a Mafioso subscribed to the code of OMERTA.Wah! Now we know, Dr. Ruto does not want to cut a public image of a KICHAA, effectively a kichaa of the sell-out kind, a quisling. Dr. John Pombe Magufuli spelled it so clearly, the horror must be covered with some humour. Africa, The continent of the crazy leaders! So, calling Spindoctor Nzioka Waita for a second take on Ouru's OMERTA! Or perhaps the colourful Kanze Dena would do better spinning? Here is a comment from a Kenyan on twitter

THE XENOPHOBES OF GIKOMBA MARKET AND THEIR MPIG, JAGUAR
1. Keep this word in mind: GLOBALISATION.
And remember there are losers in this great success story. For instance, those losers is the reason there is need for that feminine sounding acronym: MAGA. Large swathes of the USA were de-industrialised, reduced to rust-belts and significant populations along to non-stake-holders in the American dream. These became the basket of deplorables who 'rathered' the isolationist Donald Trump than the 'cosmopolimulticulti' Hilary Clinton. The Trump would Make America Great Again, yeah, re-institute and guarantee white power and privilege forever. (Keep sh!thole republic holed in their sh!t)
On the other hand, Capital is having a field day, the globe at large is its playground. Capital moves at breakneck speed in pursuit of its interests, profit. Capital does nano-second, techno algorithmic ebbs and flows at will across liberalised borders. The world's financial markets are at its beck and call, Dollarised Capital System; and the nations that resist are primed for destruction by any means necessary, for instance by the likes of NATO and The FED.
Labour on the other hand is on a snails' pace. You need travel documents aka e-passports. You need visa's and work permits, and classifications in various colours of cards (like the famous green for some famous countries). Immigration has become a big issue globally, because, due to income inequality across the globe, and genocidal imperialist resource wars which fit a racial narrative, there is not only a massive displacement of populations across large swathes of the former colonial belt, but both an other racial and other religious charge, invasion the nativists say, on Fort White.
Across much of Europe today, both East and West, white nativists are on the electoral surge. And only yesterday in Tokyo during the G-20 2019 summit, we saw and heard the Great Russian Nationalist emerge in Vladimir Putin. Putin lambasted the former Iron Lady of Germany, Angela Merkel (who now shakes like a leaf every other time in public), for her OPEN-DOOR policy toward Syrian refugees. These will contaminate Germany further, eroding her 'specificities'.
Fascism and xenophobia is on the global rise. Global capitalism, to paraphrase Marx, is invading every hitherto holy site, rummaging and ransacking it through for profit, leaving the divine artefacts hitherto so much cherished by the natives, nothing more than direlict collectors items for anthropologists, private museums, or other scavengers who monger curiosa.
The Catholic Church, always a bastion of reaction in that country, is therefore doing a roaring business in Poland today. Promoting old values, pure white, one man one wife, no abortions, discipline and patriarchal heterosexual order.
Reaction is doing great business in what to date, have been countries professing their social openness. European navies, name them, are standing with folded arms, grinning cynically like concentration camp guards, as they watch countless Africans die in the Mediterranean deeps. Fishermen who, moral conscience of the sea stung, go to the rescue, risk loosing their boats and jail time for people smuggling.
The fears run deep. The anxieties of the native population unmistakable, at the electoral report. They even say BREXIT is because Brits no longer feel in control of their own country.
It is a nativist backlash.
A NATIVIST BACKLASH at the loss of control engineered by well-feted elites? Would not that be the story of a man named NJAGUA JAGUAR, addressing his constituents at GIKOMBA?
Coupled with the storming rise of new powers like China, the global village is becoming a very narrow-minded avenue in deed. Not just American Trade Wars with China and Trump's moves to kill of HUAWEI prove the point, but even back here in the --tortoise pace--- rising continent of Africa, the natives find themselves at the mercy a penetration which threatens all air from their lungs.
The fears of the bottom enders, the losers of globalisation, are deep and real. Everywhere, their pains are material enough to raise strident alarms.
So do I understand our xenophobe, Starehe Mpig Njagua Kanyi.
next. 2.
AS THINGS ARE SET TO STAY THE SAME, THE SEARCH FOR A SCAPEGOAT IS ON.

Post by jakaswanga on Jun 30, 2019 14:35:49 GMT 3
2. BARRING A SOLUTION, A SCAPEGOAT MUST BE FOUNDYou know when you have a big problem -----like why is Africa at the bottom? you need a big scapegoat. Why is Africa underdeveloped then? well, relatively underdeveloped then. Because even in Kisumu Pacho we have multi-malls bigger than Minnesota. One can jet-in, in an old chopper to shop around for a new chopper! And last time in Nairobi, an old Mount Kenya schoolmate of mine ---he must be into lucrative state tenders, treated me and other unrelated females to an endless, very dear banquet at a suite in a Nairobi Hotel which, he loosely said --and conspiratoriously kicked me under the table to confirm to the ladies with my Luopean english, had been reserved for Barrack Obama when he was POTUS! 'Waaah, the good Lord is on our side', I theatrically gaped, the way I had ---done the Catholic cross--- a long time ago in the states, when a millionaire chick picked me up and was all juice for nigakok up the dizzying heights of The Big Apple's high-rise Roman suites! Anyway, knowing of such grand hotels in Nairobi, you would be hard pressed to find a better service in the world, even at a Swiss all-stars joint in Geneva! Therefore, there are many places outside Marathons where Africa is tops. Just like, off the Angolan Coast, courtesy of Isabella dos Santos, at one time, not even a billionare sheikh of the gulf who moored an exclusive yacht at Saint-Tropez, would compete. The glamour of S-Tropez, French Riviera. Luxury Yachts Park. That is just to underline the qualification --- relatively underdeveloped Africa. Therefore, for pictures of underdevelopment, one has to be talking of, for example, public water services across the continent which, like the notorious Flint in Michigan USA, are sewage to toxic affairs. I don't feel too eager to explain the official neglect, environmental degradation and poor sanitation in the sprawling slum belts of Nairobi, citing a concept like .... ' systemic corruption'! or endemic tribalism! WHO IS TO BLAME? Gikomba Mpig, Starehe Jaguar Kanyi, is, as they say today, thinking over his sins as a guest of the state. One hopes the state is not giving him service from the Miguna protocol. Fred Okeng'o Matiang'i may be a DARK HORSE in the presidential race and pledged to modernise Kenya in accordance with the legacy Uhuru Kenyatta wishes for himself, but when it comes to prisons and court orders and the rule of the law, Fred is more comfortable running a medieval gory. Dr. Fred is yet to see the light of enlightenment, reform, in that regard. Therefore Jaguar Kanyi may very well be a martyr to his Gikomba people ----the petty traders finding themselves being displaced from all they have for subsistence. A globalised open economy, however much the (rebased?) statistics point, that its openness kick starts the national economy and pimps up your country's GDP, easily sounds like a fairy tale when your experience is that of an increased hardship, ends that no longer will meet, and a downward vicious spiral in the daily grind of hunger and grime; and the state-sanctioned crime of murderous cops doing their extra-judicial things at will, protecting cartels for a cut. It is hard masking Nairobi otherwise from Wa Thiong'o Ngugi's famous sneer: a glittering CBD in a sea of slums. May be those slums are teeming with xenophobic live wires waiting to be connected. And we all know it, which would explain the consensual hanging out of Jaguar to dry. We are running scared, instinctively. No matter that they say Kenyan politics is a tribal affair, down the food chain is Kenya a straight forward capitalist country. Kenya is raw, a ruthless man-eat-man jungle, and woman eat sh!t if you like. The tribal bosom is not much of a safety net, much less in Nairobi city, the headquarters of the system. MONEY TALKS, SUFFERING RULES THE MASS Money Talks in Nairobi. This introduces the primacy of class interests. In the good books of politics, the national interest should be a balancing act between the various competitor tendencies within the economic fabric of the land, but Cut-Throat Kenya is a winner-takes-it all racket. In deed there is a fitting narrative of state capture by The Cartels, which makes government even more parochial, absent and insensitive to the processes of mass impoverishment. ----I checked the ownership of the (from China) containers detained at various depots (Mombasa and Nairobi Inland); the containers whose local, STORAGE bill has risen to billions of ksh., and laughed with cold heart But here is the deal, the economic rationale of this HOLD-UP. A syndicated operation! In other words, while genuine business folks have had their containers DELIBERATELY HELD, a substitute Cartel has been having their containers processed in at TURBO. They have had a free-run Flooding the market, making a quick kill and moving on like predator locusts to new fields. And man Kimeru of intelligence didn't inform Ouru he was practically loosing his Mount Kenya grassroots this way. Neither did other channels outside the bureaucratic circuit. It makes Ouru one hell of a dunderhead prezzo; exactly the blessed thing the good fortunes ordered for predator cartels. The genuine businessmen and women struggling, are left ruined. The storage bills are too high; those who imported on loans have now defaulted and lost their securities; and when the containers are released, the margins will be nil, the merchandise finding the market already flooded with the same, and counterfeits. Kieleweke or Tangatanga, this is a problem beyond their vocabulary. Ouru, Ruto, Raila or Matiang'i, this is beyond their politics. This is Nairobi, the capital city. Capital. There is therefore a mass of alienated, disenfranchised Kenyan traders out there, seething as they watch their bread vanish from their plates and, grievously, ponder a worse fate for their offspring. This is a legitimate grievance, and it is an interest which shall find national articulation, large scale state intervention to address, or it will fester downwards until it bursts surface somehow. oops! 3. FINALLY
