I've just stumbled upon a tweet posted by John Githongo that Onyango Oloo has passed away, can anyone verify this? I'm yet to come to terms with this news. It's been confirmed from multiple sources including in a communication sent to Prof Larry Gumbe by Oloo's sister Ruth. m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10157794450319947&id=676144946May Oloo's soul rest in peace.

A life well lived. He stood for what he believed in and got engaged. He was engaging and very open to new ideas. May his soul RIP and his family find comfort in this heavy moment. Am blessed and glad to have met you and interacted with you. Fly on to your next mission.

I was reading about the Ebola scare that was unfolding in Kericho when I stumbled upon the news of OO's passing on. It is sad and sorrowful. May his Soul rest in eternal goodness.

THE APPOINTMENT AHEAD
There's a peace found in death, saw it on many a dead man's face There is a horror too in death, saw that too on many a death mask I picture Onyango Oloo's face, as the irreversible kiss of death sealed his heart: Was it a peace found at last, or the horror of a death that should have been late?

A Giant has fallen.I received the sad news of the death of the giant of Jukwaa yesterday. What crossed my mind was what would happen to JUKWAA?But then i answered the question myself...JUKWAA was OO and OO was JUKWAA but then JUKWAA has able generals to carry forward the aspirations of the platform and continue to shape the national political discourse.I will not name them now but iam sure we shall carry forward all that OO believed in.As a forum i hope we can get someone to mobilize us to contribute something small for the fallen hero which can then be handed over to the family during burial. My two cents.

Onyango Oloo is gone and he was a good man!
I "fought" with Oloo in various blogs before he started this Jukwaa forum and the kindest of it all is that he actually invited me to join. Oloo banned many people that disagreed with him on Jukwaa, but for some reason we had this mutual respect that we could disagree.
When Oloo came back to Kenya and despite my taunting him we still had a meal at Nairobi Club and talked a lot. Perhaps the reduced noise on the political front and my moving to more interesting pursuits meant that I did not visit Jukwaa often..
So I return to mourn Oloo. Fare thee well....

Copied from another forum
----- Kamaradi- Ndugu Onyango Oloo died on June 16, 2019. On that day I was celebrating my 72nd birthday. I will always remember this celebration for the trauma, pain, sadness, and the numbing shock of the sad news of his death from our sister Ruth Oloo.
I was introduced to OO by the KANU-MOI dictatorship in 1982. I was in Nairobi Remand Prison awaiting my trial for sedition when I read of OO's arrest in Voi. The newspapers said he would be charged with sedition over a poem he had written. The rest of it is a trajectory of intellectual, ideological, social, cultural, political, and revolutionary ACTIVISM by OO.
In glorifying our fallen Comrade I want to single out one of his great revolutionary attributes that must never be forgotten. OO was a self-educated organic intellectual very much in the tradition of Malcolm X, Mao Zedong, and other revolutionaries. He never suffered the limitations of bookish education. He interrogated, critiqued, historicized, and demystified theories and knowledge in a creative manner, including Marxism.
I am sure his forthcoming book will not disappoint.
The struggle he was engaged in for a development of humane, just, peaceful, non-militaristic, non-violent, ecologically safe, equitable, and prosperous socialist societies on the planet must continue.
Aluta Continua! Vitoria e C'erta!

In me I still cry.
My deepest condolences to his loved ones and close ones.

I am pleased to read your few lines, ndugu Kamale. Please keep coming back, Jukwaa is missing you too.
Relieved to see tnk as the Admin. Oloo's were very large boots and I wish well.

my head is still OO’s sister, Ruth, told me “people were mean to him in life and even in death” made me remember current Meru Governor one Kiraitu Murungi, who was his lawyer when he was awarded damages by the State but never remitted any payment to OO when the latter made attempts to contact KM when he was a Cabinet Minister during Obako’s tenure Alamin Kimathi came but was evasive Mwandawiro Mghanga, Wafula Burke and Ongwe acted like they were pretty much in the dark as concerns OO’s life challenges and from their eulogies they appeared genuine for sacrificing their time and means to come for OO’s burial in OO’s last year, months, days and hours his only faithful companion was the tethered sheep my last conversation with OO was on 12th June 2019. last time we were together at Luanda Dudi was in May 2019 replying reverse when he returned from Durban we met in Nairobi and he informed me his sisters had instructed him to relocate to his ancestral land from where they kept their promises and constructed for him the mabati structure where he spent his last months. just like in his posting much as the mabati structure was 500 meters from the electricity lines the last mile connection had not reached him hence his ability to post on Jukwaa or send an e-mail was enabled when he traveled to Yala or Luanda Dudi on earlier posting elsewhere we reminiscences our times with OO let me begin counting the 40 days mourning period, today being day 1
