certainly no one forces me.why are grusome images on TV banned yet "no one forces" you to see them?? your aim is to post the KDM why not directly?this is not a personal attack, just a matter of convenience.this clicking of 3 links is tiresome,no matter the worth of the essay. like i said, unless u have a good reason. the only one i can think of is psychological---by making the links hard to get ,u make their worth increase in the eyes of mashadites.right /wrong??

I loved your enthusiasm for Conjestina Achieng'. :-) I have commented on her several times in the Nation Forum.

What Conjestina needs first, IMHO, are international fights abroad (e.g. against Regina Halmich - arguably the technically best of all female boxers, and kind and witty to boot). But her "managers" allege not to have the money for it...

but alex, before boarding that plane she needs to have certain basic assurances at HOME- like have a home; having food to eat, money to sustain her son; but more importantly a training template that does NOT depend on the spontaneous goodwill of a gaggle of well-wishers. it is outrageous that a country like kenya which is famous for her sportspeople has a government that treats sports in such an unsporting fashion...
where can i find more info on regina?

Silly me. I should have checked that before :-(. Conjestina however has eaten "up" and "down" in the past already.

OO, one idea came to me when a boxing news item (Luan Krasniqi) flashed over the TV screen. It is so simple that it may seem trivial.
But... okay, I'll just propose it here. Conjestina needs many things, as you pointed out, and some stability at home (regular income, better raining conditions etc.) may be more important than a haphazard fight abroad in Belarus or wherever.
Still... why could one not pool together and sponsor a training camp for her? Regina Halmich is not her weight league, but she is technically one of the world's best boxers, and I think she would be quite willing to help. Basically, what is needed is a German visum (we use the singular here), a flight ticket (500-700 Euros) to Basel, a bus/train trip to Karlsruhe (or somebody living there - like me - who can give a ride), a cheap lodging in Karlsruhe, and one or two weeks of advanced training and technical honing. Call it "development aid" or "international solidarity among the workers of the fist", I don't care. But I think it would be feasible. And she could certainly profit a lot from it. I think there even are some public and NGO funds available here for "international sports exchange" or something similar.

Achieng' Out of Big Fight The Nation (Nairobi), October 14, 2005 Posted to the web October 14, 2005
Stephen Ongaro NairobiConjestina Achieng' has pulled out of a world boxing title fight against German Natascha Ragosina scheduled for October 29 in Hamburg, Germany. Speaking to journalists yesterday, Achieng, the reigning World International Boxing Federation (WIBF) and Africa middleweight champion said she had disagreed with promoter Caleb Kuya of Osaga De La Promotions over the weight limit for the fight. Her opponent, a super-middleweight, would be five kilogrammes heavier, and she could not be expected to make that kind of weight in the time frame left before the fight. Contacted immediately for comment Kuya confirmed the fight had been cancelled because Achieng' was reluctant to move up from her natural fighting weight. The super middleweight division has a minimum weight requirement of 76 kilogrammes. "There is nothing I can do now but to call off the fight. I will communicate this news to Ragosina "Kuya said. Achieng' defended her action saying she was not ready to risk her life in the ring. "Look," she said "I have been training hard to stay on my right fighting weight scale of between 67kgs Ð 72.5 kgs as a natural middleweight. Currently I am 68 kgs which is my recommended weight ." "On Wednesday I asked Kuya to replace me for the Ragosina fight." she added,"I have also returned the fight contract which he sent last week back to him." The fight purse was expected to earn Congestina Sh 300,000 which promoter Kuya had said he was ready to pay. Achieng' confirmed the figure but complained it was below what she expected for a title defence. Relevant Links East Africa Kenya Women and Gender Sport Asked what he was now contemplating after the cancellation of the fight Kuya said he will need to be given time to evaluate his situation. Achieng' has a record of six victories (three by knockouts), one defeat and one draw. Her most recent fight was in August when she knocked out Tanzania's Monica Mwakasanga in the ninth round. Asked to comment bout the much publicised anticipated bout between American Laila Ali and Achieng' fight, Kuya said he was hopeful things will work out for such a fight to get off the ground.
