Onyango Oloo, In her book "A Small Place", Jamaica Kincaid claims that social, economic and political conditions in most black countries worsened with the achievement of independence and contends that [black people do to themselves the very things the colonialists used to do to them]. Having read your poem here onyangooloo.blogspot.com/2004/05/on-her-37th.html and JM, Pio Gama Pinto, Mboya, Ouko, neglect of Mau Mau fighters after independence, detentions without trial, police brutality and torture, greed, corruption and land grabbiosis, I would be hard pressed not to agree with Kincaid. Now the real tragedy of such behavior is that evey black country has or continues to experience it's share of Kincaid's damning observation. Njoroge
