As much as I am enjoying catching up here on Jukwaa, and this thread in particular with its minute by minute updates on Obama, JAHAATWACH could I ask you to please stop calling Senator Clinton 'the mama' - clearly you don't support her, but there is no need to be sexist about it.

PM, and the rest, I think this will drown Obama. I'm afraid, to say, these jungus will really make a kill out of this. Hilary may be smiling wherever she is. They really dug in.
Look at how these journalist gets into him. see how they spend time on this issue. This country is doomed. I thought the pastor was just saying what is true.

My fears are confirmed!
The mama(Oooop! excuse me Fanyamambo)is not throwing in the towel any time soon.In fact, she is going all the way to the August convention. What bothers me most is not her staying power but rather the skillful and I dare add bewitching tact with which she uses the kitchen sink strategy to distract the media from her foibles.
I am informed that while the media preoccupies Barry with firefighting,Hillary is scheming on how to conquer what she hopes is the last stand--the super delegates.Of course her eyes are trained on Barry's 117 lead. What a roller coaster!

Barack Obama will win the Democratic Presidential nomination. Hillary Clinton may get back about 10-20 delegates from Pennsylvania. Obama will get it back and more in Indiana and North Carolina. Then they have Michigan and Florida. Obama was down on a 60:40 loss in Florida where he never campaigned. In any re-voting Obama will close both the gaps in Michigan and Florida. Generous projections are that Ms Clinton would have to win Florida and Michigan 65:35 after winning Pennsylvania by the same margin to even draw a tie with Barack Obama as the Presidential Candidate of the Democratic Party of the United Sates of America. Even my neigbour's cat knows that is practically impossible. So if Clinton pulls this off, don't blame me, blame the cat. It looks to me like Michigan is going to be a toss up. Their first vote Obama was not even on the ballot. Now he will be. After Michigan I think Obama will have about 140 delegates more than Hillary Clinton. I do not think for one second that the Jeremiah Wright story is going to help Hillary Clinton in her campaign the DP ticket. It can only help John McCain. That is eight months away. To say that is a long time in politics is to be a little too generous with politicians. My take is that Hillary Clinton cannot win the Democratic Party ticket. Whatever happens the democrats have to work together. This race and gender slug fest they are engaged in will not serve them. May be it is a reminder that even America's mainstream political parties have wenyewe. We will soon find out, won't we? adongo

I do not think the so called super delegates have the guts to vote any other way than for OBAMA if he wins the popular vote and more delegates. So, as long as Obama is leading as he is now I can as well say go to hell with super delegates. They wont matter. I understand some democrats want to prevail on Obama to drop the race and become Hillarys running mate, the so called superticket. I think they would be great together but it will be difficult to team up after all the competition.

This is from the pen of the ever enigmatic Prof. Ali Mazrui. The best book I read from his works is the one entitled, "Christopher Okigbo", which addressed the Biafra war from a ridiculously humorous perspective. I have been looking for a copy of it with very little success. Anyway this is what the good prof. says about the obama/clinton situation. www.eastandard.net/news/?id=1143983331&cid=190

What is this obsession with SEXISM even where there is none? Are our women folk not confident enough in themselves and would rather suffer from inferiority complex? Why keep on hiding behind the facade of SEXISM every time a feminine word is used in reference to a woman? I bet next time you will get offended when men refer to you as WOMEN!! What should you be called then? MEN I suppose?!! In that case let's declare the whole human race "MEN" if that makes you happy!

Einstein I don't know who 'your women folk' are but I am certainly not counted amongst them. I pity them - whoever they are.
What on earth is a 'feminine' word. If Hillary Clinton is a woman by all means please refer to her as a woman - I think that's pretty straightforward.

Never do you easily come across an individual who lays claim to 6 out of 8 parts of this planet. The question is, will this destroy or save him? My guess is as good as yours.

Einstein I don't know who 'your women folk' are but I am certainly not counted amongst them. I pity them - whoever they are. What on earth is a 'feminine' word. If Hillary Clinton is a woman by all means please refer to her as a woman - I think that's pretty straightforward. Fanyamambo, It is not as straightforward as you may think. According to Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, 'feminine' words are a class of words that refer to female persons, animals, etc and often have a special form: 'Lioness' is the feminine form of 'lion'. The feminine equivalent of 'earl' is 'countess'. Following this logic, the feminine form of 'father' is 'mother'! Now 'mother' refers to a woman in relation to a child or children to whom she has given birth. Thus 'mothers' are a sub-set of 'women'. Mothers in many languages worldwide are addressed as 'mama'. This means that 'mothers' are the equivalent of 'mamas'. If 'mothers' are then a sub-set of women as stated above, it follows that 'mamas' are a sub-set of women. Now let us go back to Senator Hillary Clinton. She is a woman by all means as you stated above. But the Senator also happens to be a mother as defined above which in turn is the equivalence of a mama! So when someone refers to her as a mama, the implication is that she is a woman!! So, why do you get offended by the word 'mama' in reference to the Senator yet you feel good when she is referred to as a 'woman'? ALL mamas are women, but NOT ALL women are mamas! If you would have complained about someone referring to ALL women as mamas, I would have agreed with you all the way. But refusing to accept that ALL mamas are women is simply amazing!! Like I said elsewhere on this forum, the fight against SEXISM is a noble fight NOT worth trivialising. I only hope that those fighting this fight, really know who their targets are, otherwise you will lose the fight by pissing off the very people you need on your side.

I just listened to a live coverage of Obama's speech on the race issue. He turned the whole table upside down and instead of talking about Jeremiah Wright talked about racism and the history of the Union called the United States of America. In my opinion Baruk hit the ball out of the park. He was as cool as cucumber and the CNN folks are almost shocked how smart and far out the dude is. Remember CNN has been playing the Jereimiah video every few seconds. Can someone get some link to the speech.
