The news that Raila had appointed 5 MPs to 'select' a candidate for the forthcoming by-election must have surprised many people. The fact that the people of Kasipul Kabondo have to get 'outsiders' to select an MP to elect in my mind is an insult to the intelligence to the people of that constituency.
Sadly, this is a decision by a man most of us claim is a democrat. Hopefully this will not open up a new avenue for the 5 'wise' men to line up their pockets before the final payment is made to the democrat! Hopefully the story about 4million shillings for a certificate will not be repeated this time.
For those that wonder what my interest in this matter is, let me declare it. I have always felt that Raila is not the democrat most people flag him to be, and I am just confirming the same....! Anyone else willing to join in the condemnation?

I knew you would say something about it; just as you must have known that I would tell you off here. Very predictable, both of you, wouldn't you say, Kamau?
Anyway, it is called "party discipline." All over the world, democractic parties choose who their torch bearers are. They prpose these to the general public who can say "no" or "yes." They don't impose these people; they just "suggest." Unlike Kibaki and you who do not believe in party or institutional structures; choosing to target "individuals" instead, other Kenyans have woken up to the maturity of the majority of the people who are yearning for "structural" and "institutional" direction.
The Kasipul Kabondo (where almost all my sisters are married and where I know at least three of the mooted contestants) will be free, at both nomination and voting day, to decide. LDP is making its own decision, based on its party manifesto, constitution and democractic institional process. Those who don't like it, like Herber Ojwan'g, are running on the Pata Potea Party of Tuju. Why is he complaining about how LDP does its nomination when he is not a member? Talk of childishness!
Let those LDP contestants complain....

I do not understand why Herbert Ojwang the PPP candidate in Kasipul Kabondo should be the one complaining how LDP is going to nominate their candidate for the vacant seat. Herbert should not worry about who KANU, Ford People, Ford Kenya, and other parties nominate to contest for the seat. How did PPP nominate him? Nobody seems to be complaining about how he cliched the PPP nomination. We do not even know who other parties are going to nominate including LDP yet he is already crying foul. Herber knows that the only way to get the Support from Kibaki and his MKM is to attack Raila. Anybody who attacks Raila is good. Herbert therefore attacks Raila to get the national media to cover him. Some people support him just because he attacked Raila without even bothering to look at the bogus nature of his attack. A political party has the right to recruit whomever they believe would be their best candidate for a vacant seat. If a party member believes that there is a violation of the rules then he/she can take the matter to court. Those outside LDP like Herbert and the other Raila-knee-jerk haters have no standing on this matter.
