Folks,
On Anglo-Leasing, many people are shouting "Awori must go!". Wait a minute!. Awori was indeed involved in the Anglo-Fleecing conspiracy and those shouts are in order.
There is one other official whose Personal Assistant was literally the nucleus-man pushing the Anglo deals on behalf of his boss.
None other than besieged Chris Murungaru has repeatedly declared the identity of the man who authorized the Anglo-Leasing deals,.....that is MWAI KIBAKI.
However, the Kenya Human Rights Commission & other Civil lobbies choose only to dwell on Awori and the sacked Ministers,.......SEEMINGLY ABSOLVING KIBAKI from blame.
When they threaten to paste Awori's posters along steets and outside churches, they must not forget Kibaki's.
Could the KHRC be complicity playing in a major cover-up? Operation-salvage-Kibaki while sacrificing a few.
Githongo stated clearly that he kept the President briefed about the Anglo scam regularly, and told of direct efforts by Kibaki ordering him not to hand over his investigative files to KACC.
That in itself is quite damning.
Any Anglo-Leasing resignations and prosecutions will be incomplete without Kibaki himself following suit by resigning and paving way for investigations. If zero tolerance to corruption was his call,...it is finally catching up to him too.
Kenyans are focused and privy to his divertionary schemes,..but they will hold him fully accountable on this matter. Anglo-Leasing is not going anywhere despite the exit of Mwiraria, Murungi and Murungaru.
Those Kibaki advisors hoping that Anglo-Leasing will die away with the shunting of the Murungis are dead wrong. It will not.
The public is looking at yet another round of mismanaged crisis, akin to the coalition itself, the referendum & other failed Kibaki projects. The anti-corruption sugar coating attempts by the government will fail too because the public can see through them.
After the much publicized Githongo dossier was released to the public, including the airing of taped conversations implicating Kiraitu Murungi,.....KACC has now gone slow and instituted "fresh investigations" into the same,...in a time buying tactic. As predicted, another attempted lap of public hoodwinking is in the making.
I am yet to see what the Uhuru led PAC will enforce despite having a fairly good start by collecting information directly from Githongo in London.
I predict that they might just reach a cul-de-sac in the sense that their mandate might just lead to one thing,.....offering recommendations. Recommendations which will not be enforced at all, as usual.
Both KACC and the AG's office are under the tight control of State House,........and worse, with people like Kombo, Nyachae et al,....Parliament is not the place to rest hopes for wananchi in their quest for justice with regard to corruption, .........so in essence this circus is leading nowhere. The fingers are pointing directly at State House nevertheless.
A while back, when Kiraitu used the Kombos and Ngilus to rubberstamp the appointment of Ringera at KACC,.......he was basically safeguarding their future by building a protective Fort to shield them (Mt. Kenya Mafia) from the hands of justice.
When Murungi conducted (with Ringera) the ethnic reconstitution of the judiciary,( "GEMA-nization" of courts) ...otherwise called "Radical Surgery" or "Judicial Purge",.....he was laying the foundation for shielding of future Anglo-Fleecers from harsh court verdicts.
The information already gathered is enough to prosecute the perpetrators of this mega looting, yet lack of will by Kibaki to punish corruption, is standing on the way. Why? Because Kibaki is at the heart of Anglo-Leasing and does not intend to punish his "errand boys" too harshly for his own sins.
Through his inept advisors, he hopes to let the heat fizzle away with the introduction of parallel "probes" meant to divert public attention,....specifically the Goldenberg report and the Ndungu report.
Kibaki is attempting to hide the truth in order to serve his own interests through obscurantism.
The simultaneous action on Goldenberg report is meant to obscure public focus on Anglo-Leasing, ....yet the government has all along sat on the Goldenberg files from the date of it's completion last year.
Worse,....the piece-meal and selective application of portions of the Ndungu Land report is quite shameful and smacks of political witch-hunt.
Even kids just beginning to toddle know the real land grabbers of Kenya. The Kenyattas, Mois, Kibakis, Karumes, Michukis, Koinanges, Mathenges, Kihikas, Nyachaes, Saitotis...etc lead in a long list.
The time to deal with the Ndungu report calls for inquiry into all the land scams since 1963. It is common sense that picking selective cases for witch-hunt will simply not wash.
It is quite shameful for a government led by a known land grabber, now caught with Anglo-Leasing smoking gun in hand............ to pretend to be acting on corruption only after Githongo decided to go public with his investigations.
This is a good time to deal with Anglo-Leasing comprehensively since evidence is current,...and hence set precedent-warnings (something which will not happen anyway).
At this moment in Kenyas history, Kibaki's resignation and call for fresh polls would be highly welcomed. Our own history tells us that we must not do today what we did in the past,...the period of disillusionment.
What Kenyatta got away with,...what Moi got away with,...are nightmares for Kibaki today, simply because that was then and this is now,......these are vital lessons for those aspiring to lead Kenya.
More lessons to learn, are that Ideologically bankrupt regimes, whose primary motivation is quick enrichment by looting public funds and building tribal power cabals is a thing of the past, that Kenyans want to break today.
Kenyans want to break this madness akin to people following the writings of poet Ben Okri. People who have walked into abyss and want out immediately.
I'll quote from his poem "Memories Break",...by Ben Okri.
"We celebrate our future deaths
We cut out the tongues
Of our prophets
We hail our murderers
We gild our traitorous leaders
We poison our healers
And we walk with our eyes wide open
Into our abyss.
Break this cycle
Break this madness
Let new fevers rise in this
Radiant act of faith
Destroy this temple of living hell
Let us join our angers together
Forge a new joy for the ages
Create
New breaks"
We will break this cycle by joining our angers together and demanding that Kibaki must go.
