No need for introductions.
Moi had to detain the then young director of KBS for fear that he would join coup ploters in 1982. Moi did this twice with the hope of scarring the determined future leader.
In 1992, Moi had no idea that the then MP for Langata would cost him dearly 10 years later, so he did not bother with him. Kibaki would not know either that that was the man to wheel him to Statehouse, and not his erstwhile bankroller, Karume.
After jaramogi's death, Wamalwa Kijana(rip) had a taste of the Mania and Phobia that people talk about. He survived a bruising battle, but lost a big chank of his party to NDP. That was the enigma at work.
Kibaki was by then, drinking quietly in the chairman's corner in Muthaiga Golf Club waiting for someone to offer a back to ride on. He was to do this for 10 years.
At some point in 2000 or there abouts, Moi thought to approach the enigmatic young man to board his ship to make it stronger. He wanted to tap the young leader's talent. He made promises that were to later cost him dearly.
The man himself, quiet and thoughtful, walked into Kanu to a grand welcome, but to the chagarin of his now ally Kamotho, who learned from the master what Soccer meant in politics. He was to keep his peace until later, when he decided to join the enigma. Today he provides Secretary General services to the Enigma's LDP.
Moi woke up one morning and was surprised to see a huge crowd at Uhuru Park, and when he enquired, Arap somebody in the motorcade told him it was Reihardt Bonke talking about Jesus. Moi did not know that the small thing called Rainbow he had earlier dismissed was what was sweeping th streets.
Earlier, Moi had tried to introduce one, Uhuru Kenyatta, as the heir aparent to his party officials. He had been surprised that they did not favour his choice, but still believed his influence was indefatigable.
To Moi's surprise the enigma had influenced his most loyal supporters like Ntimama, Kalonzo Saitoti and Awuori to decamp with him to Rainbow, so they can run in the rain of the second Liberation.
Moi lost miserably and could only be consoled by the promised presidential Pension. He did not even talk when leaving Statehouse for kabarak. They had even stonned Baba Moi during the peaceful handing over. He was beaten in his own game by the enigma.
Kibaki, Wamalwa and Ngilu needed a strong Tractor to plough their way to Statehouse. They were lucky to have the Enigma willing to work with them. The enigma only had to say something simple like 'Si hata Mzee KIbaki Tosha' for the crowd to go into a frenzyzy. What moi thought was a Bonke Rally was actually the place where the enigma annointed Kibaki for leadership, and where the fate of his project had been sealed.
Once on the seat, Kibaki invited some other people and tried to tame the enigma. A very historical battle ensued, and casualties fell one by one. Muite went first. Kiraitu, Murungaru and some others were eaten mercilessly by the enigma. They were to later shed tears in their constituencies lamenting that it was a shark that ate them. It was the ENIGMA. He only lost a dependable adviser to an assassin's bullet.
The referendum sent Kibaki to the canvass, but he was misadvised to continue sleeping with the hope that he will still continue working. He was told the enigma is nothing to fear, not even after loosing all his henchmen.
Today, the Enigma still stands tall waiting to eat another political giant. He is feared, reveared, respected, loved, hated, but all agree to one thing, he is not to be messed with. The mere mention of his name and 'Tumbili wananza kuhara juu ya mti.
In ODM, they all would want to lead, but all agree on one thing, if Raila were to move slightly, the whole ODM outfit would not be there.
The see in him the leader. That is probably why some call him a party rather than an individual.
He once reckoned that he barehandedly removed a crocodile from the water. He now says a Monitor Lizard cannot give him a hard time.
Time will tell, but there is a clear indication that he is on his way to Statehouse.
If one were to wonder, how come all those that tried to go against him have ended up by his side ? They must respect the man's abilities and political prowess.
The enigma has many names, Tinga, Agwambo, Amollo, Odinga, but the name that mekes many shake is RAILA.
Kenya is waiting for a fourth President to take up office. It is likely to be none other than the ENIGMA himself, the peoples' champin liberator, who has earned his place in Kenyan politics,
RAILA AMOLLLO ODINGA.
