ok, unless my browser did not load the full post.... dunno what the hell you are talking about politicalmaniac. Of course unless you were trying to start a thread on why we should elect Kibaki for another 5 year term. Personall, i have my own reasons why i think he is the best candidate yet. Note, 5 years is a short time all i can say is that out of the current crop of politicians, none of them has been groomed to take the top seat. During the Kibaki presidency, at least in its first term, and hopefully not last, we have seen some evils that were never mentioned in the past brought to light, we have seen cabinet ministers resign or get fired, we have seen big people get a dose of what it means to get out on bond...really, those are changes you rarely see in any other african countries. Well, except in SA, where we are treated to a soapie episode of Jacob Zuma and his consentual sex/Rape case. *Can anyone imagine how dumb one has got to be to say that- they had sex without using a condom with a HIV positive partner and thought that by taking a shower, immediately afterwards, they'd not catch the virus?- that was poised to be SA's next president--" Anyway, back to what i was saying. Kibaki has tried at least to get us to the point where we can start talking about proper planning, proper grooming of a leader. Don;t forget, Rome was not built in one day and mvumilivu hula mbivu. What we need is more of the same environment where people can continually challenge and question the leadership's decisions without fear of imprisonment or anything whatsoever. Out of this, the we can forge an ideal leader who will run on a plattform, that is not aided by the ills and short comings of the previous regime, not a mo1-Kibaki style election, but one where people are voting out of hcoice and not desperation. I recomend that everyone votes for Kibakin in the coming elections and continue fighting for change. 5 years is too short a time.

"The next day, Hon. Kiraitu Murungi and I had a long meeting about political party financing. I expressed to him my disquiet at the contradictions caused by the fact that we were fighting corruption on one side and this fight was in direct contradiction with the supposedly 'resource mobilisation' efforts of people like Hon. Murungaru and others. In our discussion on political party funding with Hon. Kiraitu Murungi, he admitted Anglo Leasing and other such deals were essentially part of "resource mobilisation' carried out essentially bu Hon. Murungaru and Alfred Getonga. He repeated his fear that he expected another Goldenberg type scandal tobe generated from our struggle to hold together the coalition. Both implicitly and explicitly he had indicated that H.E. the President knew all about all these shennanigans."

Vote for Kibaki the thief at your peril.

Sadik,
I am always intrigued by these quotes from the Githongo 'dossier'. But seriously knowing that you have a distant relationship with the law, do you still think that this statement can be used to indict anyone in a court of law as acceptable evidence?
I am afraid that Githongo has done Kenyans a bigger disservice than people tend to think. He never brought Kenyans any closer to knowing the truth about the ALF saga, but perhaps on the brighter side, did dim some political careers!!!!

@ Kamalet, it may seem like that but remember, that dossier was just a tip of the ice berg.. He says he has irrefutable evidence, which we did not have access to. The PAC has the evidence, most of them talk about it like "mmmhhhh.. this stuff tastes goodd....mmhhhh gimme some more of it.." i mean they loved it because it apparently has come nice truths in it. Which may come in handy. Just keep the fingers crossed. Would you rather have the githingo episode deleted? I don;t agree with you at all. After looking at the full dossier, sexed up or not, then you can make such conclusions.

Phalarp,
I do not actually have a problem with the Githongo dossier per se as he can write what he knows, and even excite the political palates of those interested. My question is whether if put to test, this dossier can help us convict any of the thieves he profers! If it cannot ( and that is what I think) then it is useless however juicy it appears.

I think it holds up to some promise. He claims it has irrefutable evidence....i am sure a few heads will roll on the floor. Otherwise, the west will do it for us. visa slams seem to work great, lol. Ask akina mwiraria and co. The west will believe what Githongo tells them and if we don;t act, they will. No way out.
