Who are the true owners of these outfits ?
Kanu-- Moi and family?
NARC Kenya-- Kikuyus ?
NARC original-- Was stollen from the real owners by Kibaki ?
ODM-- RAila and Ruto ?
Safina Muite ?
Ford Kenya-- Kombo and cousin Khituyi ?
And now that Uhuru is busy telling Kenyans that he is nolonger part of ODM, what does he own in Kenyan politics if he has no party ? We all know that even in Kanu he has no roots. So when he talks, who does he talk for ? Who does he represent besides Mama Ngina and farmers in Gatudu ?
I know for one, he does not talk for the Moi family, neither does he talk for the kalenjin, nor does he talk for the poor masses out there.
A case for the Youth;
Of all the existing political parties, which one belongs to the younger genetation ? By this I mean the youth btn the age of 25 and 39. Do they have adequate representation ? Do they have a stake in the existing parties ?
Can the youth have a party that can effectively set the political agenda for the future ?
My take is that the youth should not limit themselves to being mere voters, but should form a party that will be their basis of participation in the country's political system. It is the only way they can take on the old guard in kenyan politics.
We have for a long time been told of how the future belongs to the youth. I wonder if those saying that are in a ctual sense saying that we have no place in leadership untill we reach the age of 60.
The youth, just like women form a large part of the voting population. We need to use that streangth to participate in decision making in our country. I get tired of hearing of youth sections or arms of other parties. Why not have a party run by the youth and advised by the elders ?
I do not deny that we need the elders, but I would like to see the youth directly participating in politics, not as goons for hire or just providing security for others.
The youth cannot stand aside and behave like a marginalised minority in society. That is why when women talk of afirmative action in parliamentary representation, I scoff at them. I ask simple questions to them;
-is Martha karua not a woman ? Did she need affirmative action to be Minister for Justice ? The answer is that she worked hard to get there, just like Kiraitu did.
The youth must therefore sieze the opportunity when it presents itself. kenya is going to experience plenty of changes in political leadership in the next 10 years. The youth must strive to be part of this change, and similarly be part of the new dispensation.
I will invite all the hobnobers here to come up with tangible ideas on how the youth can be empowered in kenyan politics. My idea of a youth party is very solid. There could be other means, and I am inviting others to state them.
I can actually insinuate that a youthful party would have less tribal tensions that the current ones experience.
I would also think that the youth think and act faster than the old. This would equalyy mean that the country would grow faster if led by younger people than if led by the old.
We need to put kenya back to where she belongs on the world map. I, therefore challenge the youth to think hard about how they can directly participate in that dream.
William Ruto and Danson Mungatana come to mind when I think of the young being couragious enough to venture into politics that is dominatede by old men.
I like what I read about the aspirants in the upcoming by-elections. I read of a 27 year old aspirant. There was thirty-something aspirant as well. that is what am talking about. The youth being in parliament rather than asking an old man to represent their ideas in parliament.
And If you ask me to be President in future, I cannot refuse to apply my skills.
