There is an evident CIA link to what the US administration is referring to as "the militia in Somalia". The CIA has been funding "movements" there since Black Hawk Down. I watched (on BBC) Senators Murray and Specter arguing about the CIA operations and the public (more so international) arraignment of the CIA’s actions on the matter. ...................and now Kenya is in the mix? That was after Jeff Koinange gave his spiel on CNN. How fascinating.................two Senators, who lead Congressional Committees arguing on live TV................hot! I was really thrilled. Sen. Specter (who heads the Judiciary Committee) said he would investigate the role of the CIA because Murray was being "arrogant". Imagine that! How does America think it’ll implement (or even aid) in the peace process if it continues to give money and firearms to clansmen in Mogadishu? Where is the African Union? In America today, nothing else matters besides the fact that Al Zarqawi is dead. Ati that is news? Now the GOP can now ride high and mighty in their apparent cause for world peace. Pliiiz!! www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/africa/06/08/somalia.reut/index.htmlnews.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/5058330.stmAnd now the hopeless Kenyan government had this to say: www.nationmedia.com/dailynation/nmgcontententry.asp?category_id=1&newsid=74815Maina -unedited-

The issue of Somalia is quite disturbing given the fatc that Kenya have been a supporter of peace in the region due to our national security interest. I think the kenyan Govt should do all they can to punish the islamists who took control over Mogadishu by denying them access to the country and not dealing with them at any level. That might solve part of the problem. Again security and monitoring the activities of somalis nationals is important so as to control the flow of guns in the country.

The Somali problem is a serious problem that should be dealt with a serious manner. However, AU is to blame for not putting down his its foot and saying that enough is enough. The Somalis too, should take a step towards reconciliation and nation biulding. You cant have war lords allover the place a hope for peace. Its is directly in the interest of Kenya to see to it the conflict comes to and end. Kenya should therefore not do anything that might lead to excalation of the war in Somalia
