What the hell is going on people? This is completely untenable. A woman gets "lippy" and dude decides to teach her and everyone else at that party and the whole country a lesson. Who are you woman of all people to talk to majesty like that.? So, he has her chased out of the place, tortured, most likely raped being part of that torture culminating in her murder. For good measure throw her body unto traffic. people people. Big shot's name isn't being spoken yet. But we do know from which region he hails. (PM spare me the mt Kenya mafia this that and the other) Will the police botch this one as they do most as they recently did with Wanjiru case? Could somebody upload her picture? She was stunning. I hope that the investigations are the beginning of pay back for the dude. She will answer him from the grave. Police have interrogated an MP from Central Kenya and his two bodyguards over the mysterious death of a university student in Nairobi after a violent altercation.
Mercy Chepkosgei Keino’s promising future was cut short in the upmarket Westlands area of Nairobi where she had attended a private party on Friday June 17, 2011. The party ended prematurely for her after a disagreement with the MP.
Ms Keino had planned to complete a master’s degree in communications at the University of Nairobi School of Journalism and marry her fiancé Ronny Kemboi, an employee of the Kenya Revenue Authority, in December.
But her dreams were shattered after disagreements with the MP at an apartment complex on Church Road to which she had been invited by friends.
Accounts given to the police in witness statements indicate that Ms Keino left the party after a heated exchange with the flamboyant MP, sources familiar with the investigations told the Sunday Nation.
Gigiri police boss Joseck Nasio confirmed that the MP had recorded a statement with the CID at Parklands Police Station.
In the statement, the MP admitted he was at the party where Ms Keino allegedly got intoxicated and caused chaos, and they quarrelled before his guards intervened.
The accounts recorded by the police show that Ms Keino was escorted out of the plush apartment complex by the MP’s bodyguards. When she stepped outside, the student sat on the stairs at the entrance to the complex.
When the night guard asked the bodyguards what was going on he was informed that the woman was waiting for a taxi.
But he did not see any taxi arrive and Ms Keino left on foot with the bodyguards, walking towards Waiyaki Way.
Her friends at the party told the police they did not know what had happened to Ms Keino until the following day in the afternoon.
By then, Ms Keino was hours dead. Her body was recovered in the wee hours of Saturday on Waiyaki Way where, police say, several motorists had run over it.
Police initially thought the death had been caused by a hit-and-run driver but were taken aback when they did not see much blood at the scene. It was not clear where Ms Keino was coming from at that time of the night.
Police later linked the death with a separate report filed by a witness who had reported seeing occupants of a dark Mercedes Benz car drop off a body on the highway.
On Saturday, police confirmed that some witnesses had given them details of the vehicle, and they had established the name of the registered owner but were yet to talk to him.
A medical student at the University of Nairobi who was at the party told the police that she saw Ms Keino running towards Waiyaki Way followed by the MP’s guards but only learnt of her death the following day at around 1 p.m.
Ms Keino’s family and Belgut MP Charles Keter have called for through investigations into her death. At the funeral in Belgut on Friday, her parents urged the police to investigate the death conclusively.
During an emotional send-off at her home, her father, Mr Joseph Keino, told mourners that the death of his first-born daughter was shrouded in mystery.
“We are not satisfied with the story we are being told about the death of child ... we urge the police to conduct further investigations to unearth what really happened,” he told the mourners.
The father said his daughter last talked to him about her wedding preparations. They also discussed the progress of her graduate studies.
“She had introduced me to Ronny, and I gave her my blessings to marry him. I saw that the young man was a good man,” he said in a voice full of emotion.
At the University of Nairobi Ms Keino was known as social and principled person.
According to a classmate who spoke to the Sunday Nation yesterday, her engagement and impending wedding were known by friends and classmates in campus. “When she was not with her family, she would be with her boyfriend,” the classmate said.
Mr Keter, the local MP, urged the police to conclude investigations into grey areas touching on the death but said he was so far satisfied with the pace of investigations.
“So far the police, especially the Criminal Investigations Department in Gigiri, have been cooperative and helpful, but we still urge them to investigate the remaining areas of this tragic incident,” he said.
The legislator said that police should establish how Ms Keino left the apartment and who accompanied her because the body was found about three kilometres away from the party venue.
“The police should unearth how the body could be found so far away from where the deceased and her friends were having their outing,” he said. He was optimistic that the truth would be uncovered soon.
Azaria Soi, a relative of Ms Keino, said the family was suspicious about the circumstances surrounding the death and urged “deeper investigations”. He questioned why the friends who went out with the deceased that night waited 12 hours before reporting her disappearance to the police.
Never reported
“We wonder why her friend or friends, who they went out with together, never reported to the police until after 12 hours had elapsed. The whole story is fishy,” Mr Soi said.
Ms Keino’s death announcement on Wednesday indicated that she died on the morning of Saturday, June 18, 2011 in a “suspicious tragic road accident” on Waiyaki Way, Nairobi.
Mr Kemboi, to whom she became engaged on April 25, vowed to get to the bottom of the death mystery. He told the mourners that they had “planned our future, but God had other plans. But I will look for answers to the death of Mercy.”
Mrs Winnie Keter said the death needed further investigation.
“There are many grey areas in the death of Mercy which we urge the police to investigate fully,” she said.
The gathering was told that doctors had to reconstruct her face, which was badly mutilated when her body was run over. www.nation.co.ke/News/MP+quizzed+over+death+of+varsity+student+/-/1056/1189008/-/item/1/-/yjmm25z/-/index.html

On the face of it, this story would be very damning to the MP. This is impunity at its worst if all it takes is a verbal altercation (based on what?) for an MP to release his tax payer paid goons on an innocent citizen. If true this MP needs to be called to account.
Mercy's parents also need to interrogate her "friends" who appear to have abandoned her when she clearly needed help. Someone should've stayed with her, or even left with her in the taxi.

My only comment will be this.
The inept iteere/gichangi/mwangi security force will for sure not follow the evidence if it leads to the mafiya wa mt kenya. Its why they were smuggled into office in the first place to, serve and protect the mafiya. Then they have thobiko the stooge who for sure wont prosecute hata kama the preponderance of evidence points to the dirty hands of the mafiya. The mafiya police themselves have engaged in extra judicial killings so they have no moral authority to investigate anyone. We are screwed as a country until the mafiya wa mt kenya makes an exit.

Until the facts are out & key players aside (alleged MK MP & victim from former RVP), it's premature to tag political motives to what may have been a personal spat.

This is the most stupid form of journalism. They name the victim and provide her picture but they cannot name the M.P who has already made public statements. And now people have to speculate for weeks as to who the M.P was. This is simply journalistic incompetence on the part of the Daily Nation. They do this all the time. Jusr pathetic.

Poor lady, where MPs are involved, especially ones with deep pockets such as Kabogo nothing happens. Our police are just too corrupt to be trusted to do any decent investigation. Besides they do some very cheap pedestrian investigations not worth talking about. See what I mean why not take evidence to court...if any Why dont the Utumushi kwa wote just let jukwaa carry out this investigation. It seems that jukwaans know more than the police and man was spot on in ringing three mps

What I said was that the corrupt tribalized police force was put there for the express reason of politically supporting, the bastardized clandestine cabal from mt kenya. This police force is more concerned with the elimination of human right campaigners, and anyone who dares expose, oppose or challenge the mafiya wa mt kenya. Have they told us who smuggled 2 words into the KATIBA just prior to publishing the document, something that would have brought the whole process to a screeching halt? Have they caught even one person who committed a crime during the PEV? Why is Sonko walking around free yet he is an escaped convict with an arrest warrant? Kina iteere/gichangi/mwangi spend all their human and economic resources trailing the Rt Hon Prime Minsiter, cooking up issue after issue.

Juja MP William Kabogo recorded a statement with police following unexplained death of a University of Nairobi student after she left a private party he attended.
It is alleged the MP, who was questioned by police in Parklands Police Station, had an altercation with Mercy Chepkosgei Keino in the party in Westlands area and decided to leave. It is also alleged she left escorted by his bodyguards — who have also been questioned by police. Keino’s body was later recovered from Waiyaki Way, and reportedly bore injuries. She has since been buried in Belgut where the local MP, Mr Charles Keter, and her parents are demanding investigation because they believe she did not die from a road accident.
On Sunday, it also emerged the police were also looking for owner of Mercedes Benz car witnesses claim to have seen drop the body along Waiyaki Way, Nairobi, around the time Keino went missing.
According to Gigiri divisional police boss Mr Joseck Nasio, Kabogo was summoned strictly as a witness who was in the same party Keino attended, as investigation progresses. He confirmed Kabogo conceded he was in the party at an apartment along Church Road.
Nairobi Area Provincial Criminal Investigations Officer Mr Peter Muinde also confirmed to The Standard Kabogo recorded a statement with his officers.
Muinde explained police need more time to investigate the case: "We will talk to all who have been mentioned to ensure the truth comes out," said Muinde.
Efforts to get comment from Kabogo failed, as he did not pick his usual mobile line that went unanswered. He also did not return phone messages sent to him both by KTN and The Standard team.
Nasio emphasised Kabogo and others who recorded statements are witnesses for now as investigation continues. He said Kabogo recorded his statement on Sunday at 12.45pm. The party was at a private apartment in Westlands but inside a restaurant used by residents.
Nasio also revealed police want to verify claims by some witnesses who saw Keino running towards Waiyaki Way followed by the MP’s guards but only learnt of her death the following day.
"Officers are working on the issue and we hope to unearth the truth. We will take action according to evidence that will be found," he explained.
Kabogo went to the station shortly after Keter and the parents of the Masters Degree student had been there.
Police sources revealed the officers have obtained particulars of the vehicle owner but have been unable to reach him because the telephone contacts he gave the Registrar of Motor Vehicles while registering the car are no longer in use.
The police gave The Standard the registration number of the vehicle, but the identity of the last registered owner has been withheld for legal reasons.
Drop body
Nasio revealed investigators want to talk to the registered owner of the vehicle to confirm claims by some witnesses who reported seeing the occupants of a dark Mercedes Benz car drop off a body on the highway.
"It was reported as a fatal accident but people have been coming with different versions of the incident and that is what we want to confirm by talking to all those named," Nasio told The Standard.
Kabogo’s name as a possible witness reportedly emerged after witnesses told police Keino had an exchange with him at the apartment complex to which she had been invited by friends before her death.
Statements given to police indicate Keino left the party after a heated exchange with the MP and his bodyguards. She and her friends had attended a private party on Friday June 17, 2011. According to police, Kabogo did not know the identity of the person who invited him there.
The MP admitted he was at the party where Ms Keino allegedly got intoxicated and caused chaos, and they quarrelled before his guards intervened. Keino was then allegedly escorted out of the apartment by the MP’s bodyguards and sat on the stairs at the entrance to the complex.
A few minutes later the night guard there asked the bodyguards what was going on and he was informed the woman was waiting for a taxi.
Her body was recovered in the wee hours of Saturday on the road where, police say several motorists had run over it.
Detectives concede they initially thought the death had been caused by a hit-and-run driver on the highway but were taken aback when they did not see much blood at the scene.
At least one person dies daily on the highway. Most of them are pedestrians who try to cross the busy road amidst heavy and speeding traffic.
A relative of Ms Keino, Mr Azaria Soi told The Standard the student’s family believe she did not die as a result of a road accident.
"I am in Nakuru from the funeral and I can tell you the family wants justice in this case," said Soi.
Ms Keino who was buried on Friday was pursuing a Masters Degree at University of Nairobi’s School of Journalism and was engaged to her fiancÈ Ronny Kemboi who works with Kenya Revenue Authority. They planned to wed in December.

I am just saying. are you serious? eyewitnesses say the body was dumped by the occupants of a mercedes benz on waiyaki way and obviously this doesn't mean anything to you. the people that had an altercation with the lady have recorded statements and from all indications the case is being treated as a homicide. meanwhile the family that is still in mourning suspects foul play and here you are screaming accident. can't you side with the victim for once? EISH!!

How many dark sleek mercedes benz are there in that country? Missing limo link in student murder probe
BY BERNARD MOMANYI
Updated : 6 hours and 24 minutes ago
NAIROBI, Kenya June 26 - Police have been unable to trace the owner of a sleek Mercedes Benz which was seen dropping off the body of a University of Nairobi Masters student whose death is now shrouded in mystery.
Guards on Waiyaki Way told police they saw the Mercedez Benz dropping off the girl’s body on Waiyaki Way on the night of June 17.
Sleuths investigating the case said they obtained the registration numbers of the black Benz but have not been able to contact the owner because the address available at the Kenya Revenue Authority which maintains records of motor vehicle ownership are not up to date.
“The name is given plus the address but we cannot reach the person because it appears the address is no longer in use,” a police officer said.
The officers are investigating the death of Mercy Chepkosgei Keino, who was pursuing masters degree programme at the University of Nairobi.
She had attended a party at an apartment Complex on Church Road alongside some of her friends when she was reportedly ejected after differing with an MP, according to witnesses who have recorded statements with the police.
Police are interested to know the registered owner of the Mercedes Benz said to have been seen dropping off her body on the highway.
Police said they were analysing statements indicating that the woman was escorted out of the party by the MP’s bodyguards who are reported to have left her at the gate of the apartment.
The bodyguards have also recorded statements with the police.
Police said they were interested to know the movements of the deceased woman from the time the bodyguards abandoned her at the gate, because her body was discovered a few kilometers away.
“We are piecing together information that is available as we try to gather that which is not available. Anyone with information that can help is welcome to assist us,” Gigiri OCPD Joseck Nasio said.
Nansio said, initially the matter was booked in as a hit-and-run accident but after several pieces of information emerged, “it became necessary to carry out detailed investigations.”
“We are speaking to people who were at the party, those who saw the body being dropped off and the people who are said to have escorted her out of the party,” he said.
Among those who have recorded statements with the police include Mr Kabogo, his bodyguards and some of the people who were at the party.
“We are not saying any of those who recorded statements are liable for the death. We are just carrying out a normal procedure of investigations,” Mr Nansio said.
Our efforts to speak to Mr Kabogo were fruitless on Sunday.
Police declined to disclose details of statements recorded at the station.

That's the problem with blood money which is what drug proceeds are. Eventually the bad karma catches up with you. First the Rannebeger dossier, now a suspicious death of a young student? Kabogo is living dangerously.
