Wana Jukwaa:
Please vote ONCE for the person of your choice.
I have included Abdul Mote's name even though he is the one who suggested the award. I have also included Adongo as well. It is up to Jukwaa members to pick their choice. Obviously my name is not there for obvious reasons. If you want to vote for someone (including yourself) and his/her name is not in the list above please choose option 35.
And this time I am calling for a huge voter turn out. I still have goosebumps of embarrassment and chills down my spine when I recall the paltry numbers who bothered to vote on our last poll question (on whether to reopen Jukwaa's doors to new members).

Thank you all for your positive feedback on the Award. It looks like this intiative has to be a regular one at least once a year event! Obviously the idea might evolve with time and with such good suggestion such as as the various coming, that is a good possibility.
There will be other categories introduced for runners up. At least three of them soon to be announced. I have communicated my suggestions to Oloo on this and those should be declared soon.
In response to tank and on the issue of money as the chosen form of the prize to be won; well, in my opinion money is the currency that can be converted into any other useful purposes to any individual. Personally I don’t believe in restricting a prize, a gift to someone for whatever the reason, by pinning the same down into any other form of item or choice, perhaps worst still dictated by those who may offer the same to others. Money is more versatile currency.
OK, the amount may not reflect the input of the meriting individuals’ effort, but again it is just a token and symbolic recognition of their good and exception work and show of gratitude to the same. I hope the gesture fulfils the desired objective for our wana Jukwaa and so will leave it that but thanks.
To Lincon and her charitable wish, I must say I was pleased with your noble suggestion, but then again, giving to charities should not be restricted to such recognised and the acknowledged, something which as you may have correctly noted can indeed translate into just a very tiny token.
Another Thread will address this issue.

Sasa, we need about 3 to 4 "commissioners" to verify in case of some Kivuituism when releasing the results. Sorry but you guys can see where suspicion is coming from. No swearing in the dark!

hehehehehehe. I just voted for my friend titchaz. I hope it is not a sin for voters to declare their vote. I think titchaz is pretty unique. About the rigging. Does anybody know if Hassan Isaack of the IIEC is still available. I think he could be smoother than Kivuitu.
But I have my cyber private army to clear the counting hall in case the need arises. You can go to court if you don;t like it ama? Swearing in ni hapa hapa at midnight to be followed by mungiki meetings to protect "my people" in case someone brings fitina. Remember mazee Kenyatta talking about opposition leaders" Tuta wa ponda ponda" "Tuta wa siaga siaga". Listening to that guy as a kid I used to wonder what kind of a guy just "ponda pondas" people like that. he was scary.
Well the real "ponda ponda" came later in 2007/8 and I am sure kamaliza can now rest in absolute peace. Well may be not, his boy is with Ocampo. Imagine the mzee could put his hands on Ocampo. That guy could be caned at State House for a whole week running in between the mzee taking in some goat roasts and washing it down. Imagine what the country is missing!
On a more serious note, I think you folsk should also consider Jukwaa thread of the year. So far the ICC thread is the fron runner but there are a lot of other gems in there that can give that thread a run. The reason I like the idea is that it brings the collective wisdom, interllect, insights and even stupidity we share as folks.

There are great minds here you included that dwarf me. Adongo
I have a confession. I voted for you yesterday.
As far as I can see, there is no one else dedicated to this site more than you and Kamale. At first, I had difficulty deciding between you and Kamale but for obvious reasons ;D , I voted adongo23456. You deserve it! I culd vote twice, then Kamale would get that vote. My third vote would go to Reporta
To Abdul, thank you, shukran for this well thought out initiative and thank you for your generosity.
I was pleasantly surprised to see my handle proposed in the other thread. Never imagined anyone would care to propose that much maligned ODM lunatic called Phil. Much appreciated and ahsanteni.

Whoa! hold up guys! am i the only one that's not revealing my nominee? i must say this isn't an easy decision especially since many contributors (all with different styles) are clearly endowed with intelligence, are well versed in many fields and are excellent writers to boot. In order to appreciate all the different talents it might be worth considering various categories in future.
Finally i think we are all winners by virtue of being members of jukwaa - a trail blazer in the world of online discussion forums. kudos to everyone for making this happen.

I call upon all democracy lovers to boycott this poll! This is what I had to say about myself in another thread…here… I always wonder why I tend to retreat to a quieter environment or corner where there is much activity. I am not a crowd person per se, though I like the choice of knowing that I can join in a discussion or log out of Jukwaa to be alone. It may appear that I am hiding away from everyone else but that is not the case ……… I know that I am not weird . I struggle with ordinary issues of religion, God , my own personal existence etc like others …… While others may want to belong, others may not. At one point, I even thought that I am one big bacteria…an organic entity that does not arrogate itself as the highest niche in the hierarchy of “creation”. N/ways, since I exist with no known explanation, and in a structured environment, I will blog all I want. The point I wished to make here is that…… I hope that any vote to me is transferable to others. I shall equally vote for others twice if I can. I only have one handle. Kasuku, please note, this one. That is besides the point but I found the below observation and exchange between jakaswanga and lincoln to be hilarious PS. While at it, why not have a category of worst Jukwaaist... who is fined $50 and must pay towards the winners pot remain in Jukwaa. Oh you devil Lincoln! I must be getting real old, with weak bladders and the rest. This one cracked me until my bladder let go and my pants went wet!
I nominate Lincoln for Jukwaa's Razzie award!

There is no point in having a secret ballot if the voters (including Adongo, a moderator!) immediately reveal who they voted for. That is a surreptitious way of campaigning for a candidate even as you stand right inside the voting booth, waiting for your little pinkie to be smeared with that icky indelible purple ink!

WanaJukwaa:
We have over 1500 registered members.
Only 54 people have voted.
Where are the rest?
Yes, I do know that maybe a couple of dozen Jukwaaists have a hundred handles between them and five or ten members have died in the interim, but even if we allow for that margin of error the voter turn out is still very, very abysmal!
Let us aim for at least a 55% voter turn out by October 1, 2011.

I think that this poll has been marred by gross misconduct by a number of voters/candidates. I suggest that Onyango Oloo disband this discredited poll. The greatest sinners are actually the most senior members of this board who should understand the importance of this noble idea.
There has been an attempt by Adongo to rig the vote in favour of Titchaz while Phil has been at it in favour of Adongo. I wonder what the connection is between the three gentlemen. This needs further investigation.
I suggest that any votes cast by Adongo and Phil be counted as spoilt and be thrown out. I also submit that the two senior members be barred from the contest forthwith.
I further propose the Titchaz and Kamale be investigated for colluding with one or more individuals to rig the vote.
Should the admin fail to fulfill any of the above, I will organize a peaceful protest right here in jukwaa.
This secret ballot that is actually not secret any more. Lives are now in danger after names have been named. Lets all be serious.
Evidence of the above are to be found at “EVD - Poll: Jukwaaist of the Year”

Just in case someone needs the best liar in the system to take the witness chair for them, that’s me, who won't lick her lips or look sideways when answering to the chamber...I swear I can even make the Judges cry with pity for you! As a matter of fact…err…there is this beautiful green park opposite the Aga-khan hospital - where every week i walk through, dreaming of cutting it into plots and sell it very fast to the city council before this legislation comes to end… but my price is negotiable hiii…hiii

I just voted Mrembo. I dont know why, maybe its the name and the avatar. And no, i am no way trying to flirt or use any empirical data.
Just voting with my instincts.
