Maybe now the words 'Firm may we stand to defend' will ring deeper in the hearts of every Kenyan. Peace has never come cheap. God bless our lads in Somalia. Come back home safe.

AU dismissed that report as nonsense. Well, who's winning the propaganda war?

Come on guys, you all know how propaganda war is fought. Sadaam claimed Americans will die like flies, Gadhafi promised death to the rats, yet these regimes fell miserably. Al-Shabaab is trying not to lose all wars; If they lose the battle, then a tleast they will win the propaganda one.

So let us see Al Shabab gets driven out of Mogadishu but for a small enclave and somehow they kill 70 AU soldiers in a conflict that is reported nowhere, mmmhhhh. ...and the coprses are are shown only to sumpathetic media outlets, puleeeze! latimesblogs.latimes.com/world_now/2011/10/african-union-denies-somalia-militants-claims-that-70-burundian-soldiers-died-in-mogadishu-battle.htmlREPORTING FROM JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA -- The African Union on Friday dismissed as propaganda claims by Somali insurgents to have killed dozens of African Union soldiers in Mogadishu. The Al Shabab militia, which is linked to Al Qaeda, displayed dozens of bodies -- along with bibles and wooden crosses that allegedly belonged to the dead -- on the outskirts of the war-torn capital Thursday, claiming to have killed around 70 soldiers. The images were shown on the website of a Mogadishu radio station sympathetic to Al Shabab. The bodies wore AU camouflage and many had flak jackets and helmets -- worn by AU troops in Somalia and not Al Shabab insurgents or Somali government troops. But the AU said only 10 of its soldiers had been killed in action and two were missing, insisting that Al Shabab had dressed the corpses of its own dead to look like AU soldiers as a propaganda stunt.

10 or 70 still those are dead soldiers and they were killed, so by dismissing the number 70 as a propaganda, it doesnt help a lot if you admit 10 were killed and two missing does it. Kenya troops should get out of somalia

merkuju of course it matters and that is why they had to lie since they have lost Mogadishu and now about to be blasted out of Kismayu..maybe we need to backtrack a little, why is Kenyan troops in Somalia? No country should sit back as its sovereignity is violated with impunity - kidnappings, miltary incursions and spread of lawlessness... Why is it that you do not hear them threatening Ethiopia? They have not forgotten.... and just why are you apologizing for al Shabab, what about them attracts you? Once Kenya pushes them even further, then we should create a buffer zone and IDP camps created in Somalia. --

When Kenyans were killed by Ethiopians how comes nothing was done, but when wazungus get kidnapped hell brake loose, why? is the life of kenya less important. Has Kenya we have more to loose than the al shabaab, yesterday was the warlords, then islamic courts now its al shabaab tomorrow it will be another name, they have been fighting for more than 20 years what makes you think they will stop simply because Kenya troops are capturing towns in Somalia. Is Kenya going to occupy Somalia, NO, so they will leave and we will be back with the same problems we have now but more worse because Kenya will become part of the enemy. Somalia as a country will always be our neighbor and as such we should strive to seek everlasting peace, same as what we did in Sudan, not engaging in war that has no known benefit. MAKE PEACE NOT WAR.

Where did they get all these non-somali bodies? It is not a photoshop since al jazeera has real time footage of the show! If true, poor Burundi. Last year their soldiers mutinied in Mogadishu after going without pay for more than 6 months! These year again some of them went back to discover their somali hardship allowance had been cut by half! One must always be aware of other power games goin on. Maybe Burundi is solving a certain problem in their way. Better they die there, than come home hungry, and with combat experience, turn angry when they discover once again no money in the bank.
How did wily Stalin get rid of one of his commanders he percieved a threat? Sent him into a suicide mission with his brigade unto German fire, and mince meat. Al Shabaab claims they killed 150! If that is true, then it is a fix, an insider job.

Merille - Turkana feud can not compare to the Al Shabbab menace. Kenya has every right to protect itself. If Somalis want to fight and I doubt atht they do - then that is their own busness but when Al Shabab crosses over and causes chaos in Kenya and use it to transit and bomb Uganda - it is no longer their problem it is our problem. These thugs do not understand any other language and that is why even Somaliland which is made of 100% Somalis does not care about them - it is not just Kenya. somalilandpress.com/somaliland-police-clash-with-al-shabab-sleeper-cell-in-burao-16276In fact Somaliland has been so harsh it even closed its borders to fellow Somali refugees, in the name of fighting Al Shabbab, at one time. ( Kenya has been kinder). and yes the economy matters - when the thugs strike our tourism industry suffers, not to mention the gun running (insecurity) and human trafficking, and various other smuggling stuff that they are involved in. So I say - bomb them back to at least the period right before stone age, where they belong!! --------------------------------------------------------
