We are off to Malindi today and Mombasa kesho to spread our message of peace and unity. We have witnessed enormous support and goodwill from many of our Kenyan brothers/ sisters for which we are very grateful. The journey to a Kenya driven by kusema na kutenda is gathering momentum and with your support we will surely be there. Tukutane na uko forward!! ~ William Ruto.
The rallies have so far been a demonstration that Kenyans know exactly what they want. There seems to be a growing realization among Kenyans of goodwill that ICC was never what it was sold to be.
If the crowds witnessed in Eldoret, Ruiru and Meru and their enthusiasm is anything to go by, then one can safely argue that Kenyans have come of age and know exactly what they want.
The Uhurutu group represents Kenyans who are advocating for homegrown solutions to the country's challenges and Kenyans seem to be listening and very keenly so. I will be following the Coast trip very closely.

I will be following the Coast trip very closely. , Given what happened last week at the so-called "peace/prayer rallies" which no one can dispute are anything other than but the opposite, namely, hate-filled and incitement to violence fests in clear violation of the ICC order directing the ICC suspects not to engage in such activities, and now also in clearly violation of Judge Lanaola's order, if the two or either actually attend this rally, then there is no doubt they are content on being hauled to the Hague in handcuffs for which no one would feel sorry for them, including 3/4 of those attending these rallies who clearly have no idea what these two are up-to. The rest of the country does or will soon. This is also a test of where Kibaki stands on this laying ground for a second PEV. Kenyans and, indeed, the rest of the world is watching.

True, these rallies are theraputic My grandfather used to tell me to avoid following crowds. crowds will tell you whatever you want to hear(just like the cabal of mps around them that are shouting at the top of the lungs defending them yet they are the ones who called for icc. ;D ;D KWELI after watching this video man is just man. Fact: With or without our leaders icc isnt going anywhere and kenya will continue with or without them.

The G-7 peace wagon arrived in the coastal county of Malindi to a very warm welcome. Each speaker at the prayer meeting noted that the real owners of ICC were beginning to crawl out of their closets to reveal their real agenda.
This is in reference to the British Secretary, who either by coincidence or design goes by the name Hague and his comments in Nairobi.
The many Kenyans who lined up the streets and thronged the rally venues to welcome their leaders resolved to make their voices heard and their votes counted.
Today: Tononoka grounds, Mombasa county.

A teacher we named Omollosingh [he was a luo but he had a kalasinga beard], had this notion we had to master Yeats! because it would help us build a buffer against the KANU carriculum under Moi. Joblesscorner,Like any good blogger, yours truly has many sources he relies in his reporting, sometimes multiple unrelated ones on the same story. The news from the ground is the two have fortunately toned down the rhetoric from last week and that is a good thing. A retired veteran journalist, Mohammed Warsama, has posted updates in another fora to which I have responded as follows: On Ruto's speech accurately summarized by the blogger: Much better than the hate speech given last weekend; ICC must have sent them a cease and desist order from engaging in such reckless and dangerous rhetoric. This is typical political speech very few believe anyway but I give him credit for trying. I take issue with one thing he said, though, and that is, "You have been accustomed to politics based on lies for so long. But this will now change." This is a welcome statement if Ruto is confessing having been the worst of all in peddling lies. When you say he said, "But there are others who are overjoyed at our plight. These are people who are unused to democratic competition. They do not accept defeat. They should believe in free and fair competition. Let them not look for a short cut called by them Tosha. There must be a competition of ideas at the ballot box," he is technically not lying but is misleading the public. He is trying to mislead the public into believing the two, namely, the quest for the presidency and the ICC process are connected; they are not and neither does ICC have anything to do with democratic competition unless he thinks everyone is a fool to believe if he and UK are barred by the constitution to vie, that that is somehow undemocratic. That's not true. It is also patently false the insinuation that Raila can only win reelection by virtue of ICC. Not true as Raila's campaign is based on his vision to transform the country, not ICC as Ruto and others would want everyone to believe. This is a new Kenya with a much better informed electorate that can see through all these shenanigans. Very happy to note the significant toning down of the rhetoric from the dangerous path these two were on last week. On Uhur's speech equally accurately summarized: Someone with some wisdom they respect must have definitely given them an earful or either that a one sentence note from ICC Pretrial Chamber would have the same effect. This is good. I like the way he danced around the fact they are both charged with being the most responsible for for PEV and explains it "how could we be; we were just two hapless MPs trying to get reelected!" If only it were that simple. I wish them the best, though. If they are guilty, the ICC will tell us, ditto if they are innocent. On Kalonzo Musyoka: Your reporting is excellent and checks out word by word. Kudos and thanks again for sharing. Now, huyu Kalonzo is there any need to even bother commenting on what he says other than to say once a thief, always a thief? I don't think so; there are better things to do with the time not so wasted. I have also penned a blog based on this, The Toning Down of Dangerous Rhetoric In Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto's So Called 'Peace/Prayer' Rallies Is Commendable, omwenga.com/2012/02/05/the-toning-down-of-dangerourous-rhetoric-in-uhuru-kenyatta-and-william-rutos-so-calle-peaceprayer-rallies-is-commendable/ in which I have added the following comment: Let’s now hope these two have taken good counsel and peacefully engage in politics, if they have to, but certainly not even think about once once again putting our country on a path to yet another PEV. They have no choice but to stay on our continued course of peace, not violence as the country and, indeed, the world, will not stand by and let them or anyone else. Never again if peace-loving Kenyans have anything to say about it. Regarding what Ruto or Uhuru's lawyers are advising them, that's really there business. It is my business and everyone's business who loves and cares about our country, however, that no one is allowed to take take us on a path to a second PEV and one need not be a lawyer to take that stand and let everyone know that and neither does one need a lawyer to tell them so.

Omwenga, Thanks for bringing all these HATE SPEECHEs by RUTO and UHURU gang to jukwaa. The truth is the jukwaa is the NUMBER ONE social network site in Kenya and every other ICC lawyer, dealing with the kenyan situation, hooks himself/herself to it from time to time.
Your very accurate report of the first rally must have now reached Ocampos desk, heading for judge Trendy´s. The ICC will not warn these idiots again about hate speech. It will just pounce the next time they appear at The Hague.
Meanwhile our newspapers are busy with Mudavadi/Raila saga. Which in my opinion is a none issue anyway. The media just want to blow everything up and we ODMers know that.
So let keep up the reports here in jukwaa. Its all good.

The peace trip to the coastal counties of Malindi and Mombasa was such a huge success.
The turnout was breathtaking and the leaders were quick to appreciate the warm welcome.
To my brothers and sisters in the coast, asanteni sana for the overwhelming support, your prayers and warm hospitality this weekend. Its been great spending time with you and listening to you. Your resolve is clear and even as we go to other parts of the country, our message remains that all must respect the sovereignty of our land and the will of the people. Let the people decide. Nawapenda sana. Tuko Pamoja! ~ Uhuru Kenyatta
We had an awesome weekend out in Malindi and Tononoka thanks to many friends, grassroots leaders and our very committed staff. Church at JCC bamburi was a wonderful experience and a great blessing. The crowd at Tononoka speaks volumes of where Kenya is heading. Our resolve to change the way public business is conducted is now unstoppable. Join us the men and women of kusema na kutenda and make your contribution. Mbarikiwe saaaana!! ~ William Ruto
Obviously, the resolve by Kenyans to stand by team UHURUTO is becoming unquestionable by each passing day.

Thanks Mzee,I'll be very surprised if the ICC judges isn't kept abreast of the happenings in Kenya, right down to what is said by who in these so called "peace/prayer" rallies. We all owe it to our country to be vigilant and share what we know that the media is not reporting for the sake of peace, unity and progress of our beloved country. The media must realize with the advent of social media and advent in technology, it could easily be dismissed as a source of news unless she lives up to its role as an unbiased--well, slightly biased but more accurate reporting with much less intellectual dishonesty and minimal distortions or altogether turning of a blind eye and ear when it comes to news adverse to those who control or influence it. That is what freedom of the press is all about, namely, keeping the public informed about the happenings in the country and world--good and bad without doing the bidding for any political interest at least not to the point of butchering truth and honesty.

Mwalimumkuu,I read one of these stories www.nation.co.ke/News/politics/Raila+and+Mudavadi+rivalry+rattles+ODM+/-/1064/1320398/-/qmrso4/-/index.html and blogged as follows: This is a hit piece by the Daily Nation which if I had time I can go into details why but, let me just say this: read the whole thing and count how many times Mudavadi is quoted and what he says in that one quote. That's all you need to know, the rest is nothing but the wishes of the reporter and DN. Nothing new. Recall the "scandal of the century" story allegedly involving the PM and Kazi kwa Vijana funds that turned out to be a big lie? This story is no different, except this one is built on even more innuendo, distortions and embellished facts. In other words, there is no truth to what the paper is portraying; the paper is trying to create a crisis which does not exist. The issue of Mudavadi's intentions was raised and discussed even in these fora a few days ago and it has now been effectively handled and dealt with by those concerned. The party moves on to nominations and the best candidate will be chosen to head the party to the general elections where the best candidate among those vying for the presidency shall be elected our next president. That's what Raila, Mudavadi and the rest of ODM is focused on. Those salivating to see some fissure or breakup will run out of saliva and still will see nyet, dada, nothing of that sort through the end of the nomination and never thereafter. The DN has really become the master of these hyped up reporting full of innuendo and distortions that are so far removed from the reality and the reality is, Mudavadi's issue is an internal ODM matter that has been effectively dealt with and will continue to be to the end and beyond. Unfortunately, a casual reader may not catch all of that so those who believe in truth telling and honesty in media must expose them and we shall.

HATE RALLIES! Whilst free speech is these guys rights, the level of venomous incitement being spewed from these so called "peacuful/pray for uhuruto and down with jaluos rallies" is testing and pushing the limits... The mob mentality is riding high, before UHURUTO realise they will have themselves to blame if arrest warrants are issued next by ICC. The more these guys walks free the more they are hurting and building tension among the masses. Just a matter of time!!! Ofcourse the toothless NCIC will do nothing, how can a servant lap dog bite its own master? After watching this clip, the futulity and guise of these peaceful rallies and prayers is so imminent...if these guys are prayerful then they are praying to some other deity created by God. Our country requires TRUE PRAYERS and SOBRIETY to salvage herself otherwise the slide to dangerous territories looks imminent judging from these loud mouths hate mongers!

I don't quite understand why Ruto and Uhuru continue to get this much publicity. Me, I will give them time only during their appeal, or real case. Meanwhile they continue to show what a toothless dog ICC is ... but that's loaded. I am not sure why they are so convinced the dog cannot grow teeth. If I were in their position I would tame.

This duo need the prayers more so to psychologically reassure themselves - with the 'adoration' of large crowds and medley of praise singers - that all is well. They seek the sympathy by playing on tribal affiliations and wild arguments that blame their predicament on one man.
Am sure when they are alone they shudder the dark cloud looming overhead. In their heightened suspicion they seek to cut off anyone who tries to infuse a dose of reality in the charade or seems to harbour ulterior motives. Their smarter hangers on are already exploring a plan B's thus betraying the fear inside the camp that their goose could be irretrievably cooked.
Another problem with such rallies is that their praise singers are eager to assure them they are more loyal to the course than the next and in the quest attempt to give a more incisive soundbite than the last speaker inadvertently crossing the line from politicking to inciting.
We know things are thick for the two but looking ahead, in the likely event that one of them gets the presidency they will probably try to use the office to dodge the court, and then shall their personal problem become a national problem....thing will be thick for us all! In a stroke we shall be a pariah state ala' Zimbabwe/Sudan.
