Born into greatness, daughter of a gospel singer, sorrounded by other musical greats, she seemed to have it all at one point, except for the 'demons' she couldnt shake off. Just got the news a few minutes ago. What a sad day, another life pointlessly cut short. She leaves behind another young innocent life, I hope history doesnt repeat itself. RIP beautiful, your music will live forever. www.cbc.ca/news/world/story/2012/02/11/whitney-houston-dies.html

Once again, death has visited. Again!
In this case though, comics came ahead of death. I never got their angle, as they made fun out of the singer's misery.
RIP lady.

48 is just way too young. Whitney married the wrong Bobby. That toxic marriage was the beginning of her downfall. The guy was a very negative influence on her.

Drugs,
Toxic marriage,
Plastic friends,
These,-not in that order- led to the descent of the great voice that gave us some timeless music. She sang about love but never had it herself.
Luther...Jackson..Houston.. We are losing the great musicians of our era
Silver lining is.. ..... ...
Her music lives on beyond the tragic end of the gift that was Whitney.

She is irreplaceable, her biggest mistake is that she married an off the street gangster, a desperado ruffian called Robert Barisford "Bobby" Brown who could barely hold himself together.
Ladies if you see marriage is pulling you into a hole better hit the road or ask him to leave.
The music industry and almost everyone who listens to music must be feeling this loss
THE GREATEST LOVE OF ALL IS LEARNING TO LOVE YOURSELF!!
As per Wikipedia : Houston's former husband, Bobby Brown was reported to be "in and out of crying fits" since receiving the news. He did not cancel a scheduled performance and within hours of his ex-wife's sudden death an audience in Mississippi observed as Brown blew kisses skyward, tearfully saying: "I love you, Whitney"
The bastard is engaged to his manager with whom he has fathared a kid damn it!!

I remember her with the song I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU. Originally done by Dolly Paton, the Whitney version backed by the film, encaptivated the world on end at number one in the West, and made the money that destroyed Whitney. [And fans of the song are split: Dolly's or Whitney's is the better artistic rendition?]
But even if convention is one must not speak ill of the dead, I see no reason to sign up on that. However genial some of these artists are, they are basically junkies. Jimmy Hendrix, Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain.
You have to be born in the opulent west to waste your life like that. In the rest of the World ---[and some exceptions in the USA like BB King will and Johny Lee Hooker]--genials die on stage in old age -- like Franco Makiadi, Miriam Makeba, Joseph Kabaselleh. They make sure they are artistically empty.
Junkies hoarde their talent, denying us enjoyment by carrying it off to an early grave. I find their deaths amusing, not painful. A cocaine addict? if anybody cared, they would help her kick off the habit. Otherwise it is a slow public death. Intertainment like Winehousé's was.
NB: There is a cultural criticism of Whitney I will come to later. Why if you watch the video I wanna dance with somebody, she does not look like a black gal!

Loved that lady malich. Tragedies are made of such storylines as Whitney's. I hope we learn from her even as we dance to her great music.

My generation was around the age of Whitney and i must say that we identified with her when dressing up and styling. Sexy but with a ladylike test. She was an inspiration to us and we loved her as a friend.
Whitney, You gave your best and i take God said, "enough"! RIP

Throughout the 80s and 90s, Houston was one of the world's most popular singers Houston's turbulent marriage to singer Bobby Brown was the subject of tabloid gossip for years Mentor: Houston's career was started by record label boss Clive Davis, who saw her singing in a nightclub with her mother Hotel: Houston was found dead at the Beverly Hilton hotel in California Scene: A police van and fire department officials were spotted outside the Hilton after Houston's death Successor: Houston with Mariah Carey, one of the young singers who followed in her wake

My reaction to her tragic death was exactly the same as Michael Jackson's: total disbelief and opting to only remember the Whitney of the mid 80s and early 90s. Her music from the period brings back sweet memories of the times and now great sadness as well. No one who appreciates music and has heard her music can ever forget that magnificent voice; I know I won't. May she R.I.P.

I will now gueyo and goyo-sira as in Luoland. That is a tongue in cheek and pricky obituarial chant! as one runs helter-skelter around the funereal home!
1. Some american shrink studied some kinds of men, and characterised them as feeders. These feeders became the subject of an award winning documentary [If I remember correctly]. Feeders use food as a weapon to disable their wives or women. They fatten them like hogs, until, due to extreme obesity, these women are more or less chained to their beds and imprisoned within their domiciles. Apparently a common practice in the wide expanses of the USA.
2. Higher up in the corporate ladder and amongst monied men, it is usual to have a mistress or several who are totally financially dependent on the sugar-daddy. This method of control is neither consedered sick [psychiatric] nor socially predatorial, and is indeed a status symbol amongst men.
3. Then we have the pimps, especially the drug pimps. While Nigerian pimps are renowned to use Juju to keep their hos in subjugation, the blackmen in the ghettos of america, brothers, had a different take. Impatient about the rate at which cocaine was selling, them brothers innovated the method of injecting women with crack-cocaine, and instantly having them hooked. They discovered when one is hooked to this drug, they will do anything to service the habit. Perfect control. Russian gangsters picked up this innovation and used it at industrial scale to supply western brothels with good young caucasian blonds from the east as the Soviet Union disintergrated. These particular goodie was also heavily in demand by the oil men of the middle east, coming out of their desert caves to enjoy in the West.
4. And so I come to brother Bobby, the husband of Whitney. I am ready to suspect that, married to a talent far above his mediocre station, a demonic jelousy ate him, and he plotted vengeance to destroy the talent, beauty and value of his wife forever. So he deliberately pimped her to cocaine-crack, kept her at the habit like a feeder, made it impossible for her to recover, and succeeded in destroying her as we have witnessed in slow motion over the past decade.
All this in broad daylight! This destruction of unmatchable talent is his greatest piece of work. Which is what a ghetto is.
Now brothers will no doubt be passing by to say a word of condolence to this monster. Not me! I am too streetwise. Enough to think even the family and associates of Whitney were comfortable with this situation because this way she was not in control of her finances either, and parasites could have a paradise.
Aerowa! Ogwang' chamo to tho romoe! Onere bang' tho! Thooo!
