Social media broke this news first, and they had no sympathies for LO for allegedly scamming a diabetic and naive 26 year old into debt and the suspicious death.
With the revamped constitution and unbound flow of information people better walk the straight and narrow.
Today just gagging the radio, and print media will not hide a scandal and anyone's escapades can be tracked by the minute thanks to twitter and its variations.
RIP Coreen, and LO must surely be getting sleepless nights, the matope thrown to his name is even bigger than Baraza's.
His career is now very likely to go the way of Arunga, now reportedly tarmacking in arabia........SAD

Last we heard on Jukwaa he had landed a plum job at OPM just a couple of months ago. Did things turn sour there so fast?

True to its name Jackal News doesn't hold back any punches. They have outted Louis Otieno mercilessly & draw parallels to Kabogo's case last June. Poor Careen got herself into debt to support Louis' extravagant lifestyle. Kumbe LO is Elizabeth Omollo's (formerly VOK/KBC) son: Excerpts: "JACKAL NEWS – Careen Chepchumba Kili, the girl who was found dead in her Hurlingham apartment was strangled and pills placed next to her bed to feign suicide, sources told the Jackal News, as it emerged that she owed several friends and financial institutions at least Ksh 1.3 million, the money she used for the upkeep of her disingenuous boyfriend, TV man Louis Otieno, a happy-go-lucky kid." "The last time he was in the news after K24 Television sacked him last year was when some unconfirmed reports claimed that Prime Minister Raila Odinga had hired him as one of his PR people." "This the second murder of a young girl in as many months. In June, university student mercy Chepkosgei Keino was founded dead along the capital's Uhuru Highway after partying with a group that included flamboyant lawmaker William Kabogo. Police pursued several angles, including drugs, but nothing has come as of now." thejackalnews.com/media-news/news-media/1639-louis-otienos-girlfriend-burdened-by-ksh-13-million-debt-was-strangled-sources

b6k,
The PM job seems to have been a false story.
While it is too early to apportion blame, legal clean bill of health if ever, will not wash off the tag that this episode will leave hanging over his head.
The stories of a deserted family, extravagance, mega ego and the older women are what will come to mind if this fellow shows up on screen again.
If they are true LO needs to check himself, if its all worth it- living a gigolo life- especially if it leads to such tragic happenings.
He is too old to let this 'am a celeb' thing go to his head last time i checked Tusker does the same thing as Siera beer, tone down to you pocket level bwana......That's if you escape incarceration......

.....face of a young innocent life snuffed out Off late most of these girls being mysteriously murdered hail from Kalenjin Land Is it just a coincidence or what. Nok, it's hard to say. Both Careen & Mercy Keino (Kabogo's victim) were also students or alumni of conservative University of East Africa, Baraton (UEAB). What about the transition from UEAB's controlled atmosphere to total freedom in Nairobi's nightlife?

Louis Otieno is the shame of Nyando....It takes a lot of effort for me to say that considering that there are a lot of worthy contenders.

b6k, Then a conservative university fails to train and equip her alumni for real life in Nrb. What a terrible indictment of their carriculum! Hmmm, Nairobi's nightlife as sodom and gomorah which even Almighty Jehova could only tame by total destruction! How do we then, pray, must prepare our daughters to survive this monster?

The alleged broke man that 'sponged' off the late miss C has engaged top notch lawyers. If he is off pocket this will surely take away the last of his coins.
I think the link between Baraton and the deaths is coincidental. For all i know its very likely the victims grew up in Nairobi.
Many cases of murder/suicide never make the media. I know of an institution where 2 students carried through a suicide pact alegedly upon discovering they had contracted HIV.....and it was not Baraton. The story passed below media radar.
The only tangible link in the two is the fame or infamy of the characters involved and the claims of foul play in the tragic demise of young lives that otherwise still had a lot to offer.

Mr Defense,
Better let the investigations unveil whatever evidence exists. If indeed one is innocent, it is always good to face the cameras and declare so. The only disaster can be trying to lie in front of cameras only to be unearthed later.
One observation though - while folks express emotion differently, it's fair to say there was little show of emotion (of loss). Once you opt to face the jury of public opinion, be sure they take note of everything; even if they don't necessarily prove guilt or innocence.

Hmmm, Nairobi's nightlife as sodom and gomorah which even Almighty Jehova could only tame by total destruction! How do we then, pray, must prepare our daughters to survive this monster? jakaswangaTeach your daughters well!prepare your dear daughters by equipping them with clear knowledge of what being a girl and woman in a hostile world actually boils down to. Which means most men here on this forum and elsewhere, will need to go to school to acquire the knowledge this will require. (read a damn book) The knowledge required will begin with a clear understanding of feminism 101. That however will not surffice and you'll need to delve even further, much further! Caging your daughters will not offer up any solutions. Actually that leaves them more vulnerable! Men fully understand what their peers are all about and attempt to keep their daughters safe by caging them. Set them free equipped with the powerful knowledge of how to live in a violent world. What's important, what's not, all that good stuff. Teach your sons well!Concomitantly, teach your dear sons to be less sexist, less misogynist, less consciously and subconsciously hateful of women. Teach them to see that though they benefit greatly from the social construct patriarchy, they too are rendered vulnerable by this system. Start by teaching them that a false sense of superiority is just that. false! Tell them that this sexsim stuff screws over too many people. I mean their mothers, sisters, partners and even themselves. At the end of the day they too will need to understand and internalize feminism 101!

JobHad I been Otieno I too wouldn't have had that press conference. Leaves one vulnerable. And what stood out for me is that he decided to talk about the unhealthy relationship that Careen had with her parents. I find that imprudent of him and the lawyers. I'm not trained as a lawyer, but it seems to me that he was attempting to mount his defense in the press. The whole thing just leaves a really bad taste in ones mouth.

Serious stuff. It looks as if he is attempting to heap the blame on the parents of the girl. Why not just let justice take its cause if he is innocent? The letter to the OCPD from the lady says a lot even though its unfinished.

Louis may not be physically on the run but he is definitely mentally on the run from something really bad. One does not call a press conference to tell the world that a father had a poor relationship with his murdered daughter because of YOU. Leave that to somebody who can comment about their family issues.
Is Louis implying that he is family???
Unfortunately he has been crucified in the court of public opinion and the remainder will be in the real court of law. he has dragged himself to the court of public opinion and we will crucify him there. for the real court of law, Louis needs big money and links to get over with this. These two (money and links) seem to be the basis of this whole Careen business.

Another sham investigation on the way courtesy of our Juha Kalulu cops. Perhaps they are better off sending Inspecta Mwala the comedian with a show on Citizen TV. Our "detectives" always screw up, they can't arrest the pathetic Philip Moi or that Zambian said to be hiding in state house. what about justice for Mercy Keino, Oscar Kingara, Paul Oulu, Gitau Njuguna (mungiki), Mbai, Ouko, Julie Ward, JM kariuki....list is too long!

The mboys rarely investigate anything thoroughly so a planted suicide note is plausible".
