It was spur of the moment.
And yes there are other names missing. I was just setting the ball rolling.

Oo I had guests over Easter and look what happened when i was gone.... Goodness! You really are amazing! Thanks alot. That really helps alot I don't have that much time but i will chose a few for my paper on Kenyan Women Leadership.
In fact, am writing about the kenyan women leadership and what difference they have made in our society. It seems not much, though. But why? Thats what i need to look at; why the sisters of today let the leasons of our fore-mothers go down the drain. For what have they struggled so hard for if not to make a difference? What for are Kenyan women getting more and more educated if they don't give it back to the society? is the culture preventing modernisation, etc? Thats the issues i need to address...

Women who stay at home and look after kids a.k.a stay-at-home mums are leaders to be reckoned with.
But women who both look after kids and look for bread are even more amazing....

i wont allow the media to frame greatness of a woman for me and i reject the premise that some women are more amazing than others merely because they had the opportunity that others were deprived of.

kasuku & all, please allow me to throw in my centi tatu.here i go: i wont allow the media to frame greatness of a woman for me and i reject the premise that some women are more amazing than others merely because they had the opportunity that others were deprived of. Nareah,Nareah i am very surprised to read such a negative respond for something so dear like addressing Women Leadership in Jukwaa (Media to you?). Actually it is the ignorance of where all this Great women (and others not mentioned here) came from that has prevented Kenyan women to progress and of taking responsibility of their own life, accuse the men for their short comings in the society… My addressing this issue of Kenyan women Leaders has little to do with the individual, but lots to do with how far we, Kenyan women in general have come, how much we Kenyan Women have learned, also from those amazing women listed above (and of course many others not in the list, like you, or someone’s mother, Sister or daughter, etc) and how much of the education we have being given have we given to other women/ girls and even, do we share the information with the men in our life so that they can see where we are coming from? The question in Kenya concerning women is not like in many other African countries, Girls not getting education. For Kenya it should now be; what for Daughters in Kenya being educated if at the end of it they go back to traditions and cultures that refuse most of what she has learned, for example being self-esteem, being responsible, being independent, being courageous, being a leader, etc? Nareah and others Sisters, its time Kenyan Women took a break from their ego and start introspection and self-analysis.

But I refuse to accept the notion that somehow for anyone - women particularly - to advance themselves they have to reject culture. Often, the farther back you look, the farther forward you will see. We must understand culture and tradition as dynamic and context-specific.
