What do Jukwaa memebrs think of Hon. Kosgey as Raila's choice for number 2 slot? Can he change the dynamics in Rift Valley and lead the Kalenjins back to ODM assuming they left already?
He's someone we should watch closely, personally I believe he carries more weight politically than Hon. Marende and he can help debunk the myth that somehow RAO was involved with sending folks to Hague.
It's gonna be interesting to see how ODM settles on their choice for number 2 slot.
May the great minds in jukwaa explore the possibilities if not the odds.

People who know me will tell you I would have issues with Henry Kosgey as the ODM number two on the ticket. I was hoping ODM can put a break with the past and field a team that spells change and a break with the past. But then again what do I know. Politics is what it is. Job seemed to have good words about getting Kosgey back in the fold. But here is what I am talking about. Kosgey seems to be pretty happy in ODM. www.nation.co.ke/News/politics/Kosgey+says+ODM+will+form+next+government/-/1064/1393708/-/vfb92p/-/index.html

Rais, Kosgei is in good company, especially with the very heavy rumors that Gideon Moi's KANU is entering into a pre-election MoU with ODM, Kosgey is very much at home.

I think Raila should go with a new/young face...Kosgey is too old school...he should go with someone who does not alienate his core base and at the same time is a fresh face and has the energy and smarts to reinvigorate ODM...I’m talking about non other than HASSAN OMAR...
The Uhuruto folks will love that...conspiracy theories confirmed...

The only fellows around are those who need to the party more than the party needs them.

Adongo,
Does the means justify the end or does the end justifies the mean? This will be the question ODM and specifically RAO will be dealing with.
Barmasai,
Who in South Rift can change the tide for ODM in the great Rift Valley?
Mwalimumkuu,
Will Baba allow the son to enter into a pact with chungwaa? Time will tell!
As we explore the possibilities and the odds, one thing we can all agree with is that the chairman is back!!

null and void...Raila cannot be so desperate....better someone from South Rift.... I echo your sentiments on desperation because Henry Kosgey does not inspire anyone into looking at ODM as a progressive movement which seek to banish the past from our memories. I dont know why ODM can not simply allign itself with change..., that is bringing on board someone who is identified with the struggle of democratization of kenya, and if the former RV can identify such a person let them front him forth so we can interrogate his beliefs and see whether it conforms with the kenya we want to see happening. I find it distasteful when we begin to narrow the choices as to who can bring or capture a tribes vote into the mix to make ODM win. This tribal sum is what we should try to get away from but seek to build a movement based on ideology and identity. I am afraid to say this; if ODM resort into tribal arithmetic the way their competetors are doing, then it will not be different from those filthy tribal brigades we see running a mok in the name of peace rallies. unedited

john and raiswakesho i believe the next president after agwambo must be a woman who believe in the kenya we all desire. kibaki like moi and kenyatta before him failed to give women the chance to prove their potential.even mugabe of all them, has a female deputy headof state. and there are a bunch of women who are presidential materials and indeed veritable running mate. apondi leading the pack.

a female running mate for agwambo is odm's winning ticket.can i hear someone say amen! first i say, let the person most suitable and elected/nominated as per the party rules (constitution) be the flag bearer then i say let this person in consultation with other elected leaders of ODM, select a deserving running mate. its not just about winning an election, but also about continuing to carry out far reaching reforms as well as tackling other issues in some cases reversing some poor choices internally in ODM as well as nationally by current and past regimes if in doing so, any of these is female, that will be a most welcome boon. a lot has been said about mudavadi remaining mum while RAO has been subjected to a lot of insults etc. nope i say we need quality leadership and if there are women (which i know there are) who fit the bill, then let them get it on account of their impressive achievements and not as result of tokenism. see this here, i think (and i stand to be corrected if wrong, i believe we have a jukwaaist down there) this is someone that got where they are by their own achievement af.reuters.com/article/investingNews/idAFJOE83O02U20120425bear in mind that one of mudavadi's beef is that of being called adopted i.e not deserving of the post good decisions require sensible planning

I used to be a great admirer of Karua until the aftermath of the PEV, when her defense of the Kibaki gang revealed hitherto hidden characteristics. There is no doubt that she is very bright, articulate, and (sometimes) very thoughtful. It is true that she has made some effort to redeem herself, and, indeed, she stands as one of the few voices of reason that we have in today's parliament of [CAN'T WRITE THAT IN A FAMILY-ORIENTED FORUM]. Very noble and all that, but that episode left a bitter taste that still lingers in the mouth. Perhaps time and tide ...
I would not (at present) support her for a position such as PORK, but she might be OK as No. 2 to someone who is sufficiently strong (which Kibaki is not) to control her strong-willed ways when they are too wayward. And, no, this is not an invitation to gender wars: I would have stated the same thing had a man in that position acted in the same way.

Nereah, Kathure,
Martha Karua may have made some mistakes in the past but who hasnt and looking at her steadfastness on all matters important, this woman deservingly should be mentioned as the next president of kenya after Raila ODINGA ends his term. For the country to continue on its upswing trajectory in terms of attaining its reform agenda and development, Martha Karua will be the undisputable choice for many who seek a brighter future for kenya come 2018 when Agwambo retires. There i have said it

There i have said it The two most bone-headed people in the post-PEV negotiations were Karua and Michuki. During that period she gave an interview to the BBC that left me completely horrified and (given what was going on in the country and her complete refusal to see a middle ground) sure that we were headed for civil war. Karua before 2007 and Karua having got a whiff of air on the upper slopes of The Mountain of Power were two very different people. She is on the right track, but she has much more work to do before she restores in our minds the Karua that we knew. I hope she does.

My opinion is that HENRY KOSGEY and RAILA ODINGA are of the same generation and It would not look good having the two men at the top. I think Raila should settle of a younger leader. Not Martha Karua, (I wonder why she is even being mentioned given that she is another party). Her record during and after the PEV speaks for itself, its bad as bad can be. Forget about Hon. Marende, he is good as speaker of the national assembly and nothing else.
Agwambo must settle for Hon. ABABU NAMWAMBA if he wants to replace MM with someone from former WEP. If not he should go for Hassan Omar as someone has suggested above. When it comes to women why not Hon. RACHEL SHABESH? She is a good campaigner and one of ODM pillars inspite of being nominated. I would have suggested Millie Odhiambo if she were not from Nyanza.
The South Rift is a place Agwambo should look at carefullyl. Here we can simply pick Hon. Franklin Bett or go with the little known but steadfast RAO loyalist Hon. Margerer. This guy has never wavered in support for ODM and Raila. Such loyality must be awarded. Bett has been level headed throughout the WIlliam Ruto fitina and that takes courage. Or why not go for a party outsider, who has declared his support for Raila, Im talking about Gitobu Imanyara? The guy fits the bill.

Folks,
If we were to judge by what people did during the PEV time or during the contested vote count, we would not have Kibaki as our president today. The fact that Martha Karua defended Kibaki to the tilt during and after the vote count is what she believed as true at that time and we can not hold that against her forever. She learnt her folly and pulled out once she came face to face and stared at the naked agenda of Kibaki. If truth be told there was none who fought gallantly at KICC than Ruto on behalf of ODM and where is he today?
Let us look at this thing for what it is: Raila Odinga does not need another bootlicker as a running mate. He needs a tough seasoned thinker who cant stand on his/her toe at anytime with a gravita to boot. I like Shebesh she is my favourite female M.P, tough and principled but not ripe enough for such an office. The Ababus, Omar, Margerer are good people but there is little they offer in terms of gravita coupled with credentials as reformis which narrow the choices to a few people.
In the new dispensation the running mate is going to hold strong political power and all by design, so you need somebody who can put the president to task by asking tough questions, not some loyalists who will nod their heads at everything said.

Johns, A VP that is too independent and runs his own race is not good for the country. Such a VP will create what Karaitu Murungi liked to call "two centers of power". A VIP is there to strengthen the policies of the president. The VP should be president in waiting. Yes, he/she should tell the president the truth also but that is not his/her primary role. The president has advisors who should guide him.
Yes WSR staged a very good fight for ODM unlike MM but he bolted out of the party by himself. SO we cannot count on him. Besides, the ICC york is too burdening. If he did not have this burden I would have asked ODM to go get him by all means necessary now that MM is gone.
I don't think that Karua is a good leader. Lets not equate arrogance with good leadership.

Even when it was clear that Kibaki was willing to be reasonable, Karua and Michuki weren't prepared to budge from a very hardline position. Take a listen to this and hear what she has to say about the prospects of a coalition and on mediation (on the full-length BBC video). I hope she can redeem herself, but in my book she stands right now as a person who could be very dangerous with a lot of power in her hands. Oh, someone mentioned Millie Odhiambo. That was pretty funny. How did these comedians get into parliament? Even my 10-year old son can think of a more plausible "assassination plot"; and even a mediocre movie could have helped her with a better story.
