Greetings Oloo; I hope you have recovered from the excitement and exertions of selling Miguna's book. But pray, where are the ‘reflections on democracy and political tolerance’ that the title of this piece promises? All I see is a propagandist spin on events. I find the misuse of the word ‘reflection’ intellectually disconcerting. So Miguna did not call Kisumu people ‘voting robots’? The press is lying and only you, Onyango Oloo is saying the truth? Miraculously, we note that your ilk now think only K24, owned by Muthamaki is telling the truth. And please.. spare the boy called Wycliffe further embarrassment by removing that horrendous email. At the very minimum edit his email for grammar and construction. He needs to go back to school and learn better English instead of fishing for handouts from politicians. I am prepared to bet that the money Miguna will pay him will not help as much as a few more years in school might.

Brother OO,First please accept my condolences to you and your wife for the passing of your mother-in-law. May she RIP. I have read your account of what happened in Kisumu and really have no qualms with any of it except I wish to comment on something you said you said in your own remarks during the event. You say, " I hailed Miguna's book as a triumph for us all, since it encouraged those of us who had not yet done so to compose our own memoirs. I then invited Miguna to speak." This is an interesting observation and to make my point, I have to make some kind of a confession. I often get comments, mostly neutral or positive about my blog and occasionally people would say really good things to which I often say in return that I appreciate and that what they say "encourages" me to do what I do. The reality is, deeply as I appreciate those wonderful comments and complements (or dismiss the irritating ones), they neither encourage nor discourage yours truly from blogging! I will blog nonetheless and notwithstanding those comments--negative or positive--because it's a commitment I have made to myself and believe it's my own way of contributing in the debate to make our country a better one. No one needs any encouragement to pen their memoirs, certainly not from Miguna. As someone noted and I read this decades ago, there is a book in all of us; but not all of us get to write one. When I read your comment above, I was taken aback because I was and still am surprised that you believe Miguna's writing his book (I hesitate to call it a memoir for obvious reasons) is somehow such a brave and/or significant accomplishment people would come out of the woodwork to publish their memoirs left and right because of it. I doubt it. Here is my prediction and/or suggestion for you: I am fairly certain you have a very good book in you. Publish it and for what I know, it'll be a far much better written, received, read and informative book than Miguna's. You should do that not because Miguna has published his but, because you can on your own and notwithstanding whether Miguna ever published one.

Oloo
Unfortunately, this is only part of the story. And you are coming too late to convince us otherwise. We have seen clips and talked to eye witnesses both in Nakuru and in Kisumu. Yours is a spin that falls miserably short.
I bet the selfish so called "comrade Miguna" did not accompany you to mourn your mother-in-law, did he?
Do you approve of Miguna's constant inflamatory statements? How about his direct insults directed at voters in Kisumu, do you condone those too?
I am finding it very difficult to believe that this is actually the one Onyango Oloo that I know. And yes, I totally agree with @rr. Wycliff's email only further reinforces the belief that dirty money is changing hands and Miguna is on a financed publicity stunt. I pray you are not part of this plot.
How so disappointing!

I remember warning Miguna right here to wear a helmet before making that triumphant entry into Kisum' Citi. I'm glad to hear he and his entourage weren't hurt thanks to protection from hawk eyed cops. It's those militant ODM supporters who put off potential supporters, not that I care much. With 'fans' like these and corrupt journey men from Nyayo Era surrounding our reformist PM, he surely doesn't need enemies. Sadly the same fate awaits some presidential contenders as soon as the stakes start getting higher and you can take that to the nearest bank.

MEguna and his side kick are quickly losing face, when you start distorting facts to protect your self then you really have a problem, why hasnt he told us that meguna insulted people of kisumu by calling them robotic voters, when they voted kibaki was this robotic, when they voted no in 2005 was this robotic, when the voted for the katiba that he now enjoys was that robotic.? ,meguna and company got was coming to them, after realizing that the crowd was not reacting according to TNA script meguna starting insulting people and that is when hell broke loose. Luos will not just take insults lying down just because RAO is running fir president, we will still be alive and enjoy being what we are wehther raila wins or not.I WOULD LIKE OO TO CATAGORICALY TELL US IF HE BELIEVES MM MADE RAILA OR IS IT RAO WHO MADE MM! this is degenerating to another form of psychophanvy on OO's part.

I find it grossly insulting for those calling Oloo a liar and who are very happy to go with the media reports notwithstanding the fact that their love affair with the media is only when it is reporting favourably to what we think (Daily Nation).
Who ever is hiring those gangs to heckle Miguna under the guise of protecting Raila is doing Raila a great disservice - a lot more than what some of you think Miguna has done to Raila.
If the offensive word was calling the people of the area voting robots, then what do you call those that voted for someone that would not even have made it at nomination stage such as Anyang Nyongo? How about those that would not vote for Tuju simply because the instructions were different?
This intolerance is what I believe Oloo is talking about! Let Miguna sell his book to those that want to buy and read and if you are not interested just ignore him! That is how progressive people behave!

Were instructions given differently by Kibaki, Uhuru & co? at least ODM has voters from all over the country! OPPPs! excuse me that is not true!! except for CENTRAL PROVINCE... Now stop peddling propaganda here Miguna style and wake up!! ICC will not be derailed, by project Miguna=Uhuru & Co... waste of time.. allow Jukwaa Members to discuss the curent situation as in unfolds - your insults and huffing and puffing will not stop Jukwaa members to speak up their mind! whache uchokozi!!

Kamale, Sometimes i find the stuff you peddle is just rubbish. Where do you get lecturing us how progressive people should behave when you cheered and loudly so, when some mad woman related to Kibaki refused to serve the then presidential candidate Raila Odinga a drink of fanta in her Nyeri hotel? There is mountain of evidence here at jukwaa you know. Would you say Kibaki had something to do with it the way you are now framing this one as a cost to Railas presidential chances? Let us argue our points based on circumstances prevailing at that instance instead of constantly imputing motives and dragging names of people who have nothing to do with the stupidity of some people. If somebody called you a fool and a robot to your face but came to your house to sell you his/her ware, what progressive reaction would you accord the person? The Kisumu people your new friend Miguna was insulting did not attack him but showed their displeasure at the provacateur by walking away and telling the guy off. I commend them for being very progressive on this one.

If you can show where I cheered the Nyeri woman...please! In any case this is the action of one mac person against Raila rather than a well synchronised mob.
We can settle and equate Miguna to this Nyeri woman if wish, but the behaviour of groups of yobs baying for the blood of one unhappy man with Raila is what I think is primitive!

After taking a look at the other statistics for comparison, it would appear other ethnic groups too, show significant [mathematical] similarities. So we have a problem in our hands. From memory --without looking at the latest statistics, I think this 'robotism' which used to pit Yoruba-related vs Igbo related, vs Nothern Muslim at every election, is what drove Babangida to try some ill-fated footwork at a two party state Nigeria. Ethnic block-voting is found elsewhere too, not just kenya. So best alternative would be to look at it as a phenomenom which can not be changed by castigation, as Miguna has done. But in performing the role of a social critic Miguna has done his job. A social critic is for instance, in order to castigate female genital mutilation, without further engaging in neither an understanding of it, nor practical suggestions to tame it. Denouncement finito. Others will definitely take offence, that their culture is insulted. Critique as insult.
I think the economic base in these countries is still such that the ethnic wherewithal is still the determinant safety net. Total security. When dead, fired, or run into harsh misfortune, the kinships nurtured by 'tribe' in a long history of evolution, still outgun any other forms of insurance for the majority of the citizens that the modern state pretends to offer. The ethnic robotism in voting then, is a rational choice in a harsh world.
Was Miguna insulting Jaluos? Robot voting, or herd mentality in voting, is the norm in semi-agrarian societies world wide. I do not particularly see why any thinking Luo should feel insulted. But ignorant Luos unaware of other comparative statistics will be excused their long toes.
Robot voting castigated, is an indictment of something else according to me. 50 years of failed industrialization which imposes a new consciousness, and new security systems, like a general pension for all, a protocol of burrial independent of ethnic group, total children security if if orphaned, etc etc. A certain redistribution of the surplus to sustain individuality above the collective, in a secure political system. --You do not have these, you stick with the tribe.

My DREAM Job In This UNIVERSE Is To Become MIGUNA MIGUNA'S Adviser. Is That A Possibility Onyango Oloo? First We Need To Find Him A Suit That Fits Well. I Know He Is Huge And It may Not Be Easy To Find Clothes That Fit Him Well. However, We Can Hire A TAILOR At Kibuye Market. Another Thing Is To Polish His PUBLIC SPEAKING Techniques.
He YELLS Too Much. I Say Serious Stuff With A Smile. Tell Him To Try That. If He Is Forever ANGRY, It Puts People Off. And He Should Know That A Sturdy Bondo MUGUMO Tree Like Raila Cannot Be Easily Cut Down By A Blunt Nyando Razor. He Needs To Read History. There Was Another One Called OILE. He Came With STEAM, But He Was Quickly CUT To SIZE.
He Can Fight Raila Without Bringing His LUO Supporters In. You Do That, Then You Are No Longer Fighting Raila But 5 Million Luos. Not Even 100 Miguna's Can Win Such A War. Luos Were Stoning People Even Before Raila Was Their LEADER. Ask The Late Jomo Kenyatta At RUSSIA Hospital In 1969. If MIGUNA Thinks He Is A RADICAL, He Should Not Forget That His Tribe Is Also Full of RADICALS. So How Will One RADICAL Win Over 5 Million RADICALS??
And He Should Also Realize That Kenyans Just Like Him For The DRAMA, But The More He OPENS His MOUTH, I Am Sure Raila's Foes Are Getting Disappointed That They Only Have A "MADMAN" To Help Them Cut The Mugumo Tree. Ouma Muga, Anyang' Nyong'o, Shem Ochuodho, Orengo, Oile etc Tried But FAILED. What Will Someone Who Has No GRASSROOTS Support Like MM Do?
Those PEOPLE Will PHUQUING Stone You And Life Will Move On In The LAKESIDE. What They Need Is RESPECT. Raila Does Not Have To Be President. However, Calling Them NAMES Will Keep STONES Coming. LEARN Your PEOPLE First. Do Not Be Too Much BLINDED By Your ANGER Towards RAILA.
You Need A BLUNT To CALM Down?? Let Me Know. And Do Not Forget To Consider Me For The ADVISEMENT Job. And I Laugh When You Already Think You Are In The Same League As Raila. Haujafika Hata VILLAGE ELDER Rank, No Wonder Raila Is Not Engaging You. All The Luos Know Is That A Madman Stole Raila's Clothes, And Raila Has Bought New Clothes. You Need To Know The LUO Psyche.
Miguna, In Luoland, There Is Always A NATURAL MYSTIC Flowing Through The AIR. If You LISTEN Carefully, You Will HEAR. It Seems You Are DEAF. Your OWN Noise Is Blocking Your Ear Drums.

I fully endorse your advice to Meeguna and I think your observations are so apt. I could not have said it better, your pot smoking aside!
I can see where OO is coming from and he may have good points in his observations. But I do agree with others who observe that Meeguna has lost the plot and is now digging even deeper towards discrediting himself. He is on a path towards self destruction.
If there is anything Meeguna can desperately seek to learn right now, is how he can compose and control his demeanor. Learn to effectively talk to people. His good message, despite the exagerations, lies or what have you, is being entirely lost in his now almost psychotic tantrams.
Ndugu Oloo, you have a hard job in your hands brother and I feel for you.

OO,
After promising us that you will delete any Miguna thread unless it adds value to this blog, it is absurd and annoying that you negate your promise and start another "worthless" Miguna thread. Help me out here- how is this thread different from the "Miguna County Book Tour" thread?
It is upto you if you want this blog to be a MM mouth piece- where we will be induated and pummeled by any sigh, sneeze, groan or fart miguna makes. Jukwaa is fast becoming the KBC of the mama na Baba days. Spare us.
Hillary Clinton could not have put it much better, shame on you OO. Senti 5

Onyango Oloo
Kindly use appropriate headings for your threads so as not to mislead those who may otherwise hesitate opening your briefs on Miguna's new found political acrobatics. I labored unsuccessfully to find a correlation between your title and the contents (the catalogue of events at the Miguna publicity stunt in Kisumu)
Of Miguna's verbal outbursts in Kisumu, one was very interesting though “I made Raila Odinga, I wrote every speech he read, I gave him every strategy he executed, including the one he is executing now"
I could not help musing over why a man who claims to be the only genius in Kenya would labor so hard to claim credit for making a man he considers unfit to lead Kenya. Could Sara Elderkin have been right in observing that Miguna "loved" and has been overly obsessed by the person of Raila Odinga?

OO, I have read your digital from Mombasa. You seem to blame what happened on Raila and ODM. Truth be told, the man Miguna knocked out was most probably not sent by Raila. I believe that they feel that pain of their friend (RAO) being constantly insulted by you good friend Miguna. Pehaps, you would feel the same if someone went around Kenya telling lies about and insulting Miguna.

Oloo,This is now totally absurd. Am no longer enjoying the circus. I am amazed how low we have sunk. Anyone donning a Gor Mahia Tshirt is automatically an ODM supporter? And any hooligan interrupting Miguna's promotional tour must also be an ODM supporter? Surely Oloo!? ODM will never ever condone hooliganism and thuggery. The party will also not lend support to Miguna to promote his book.

The party will also not lend support to Miguna to promote his book. Yes, and perhaps we should also look at how low Jukwaa has sunk? I have not been on line much of late and the reason is that I no longer feel sufficiently comfortable here. The intolerance that demonstrated itself in Kisumu and Mombasa is also present here in Jukwaa. I am neither a Miguna's groupie nor an ODM groupie. I have issues with quite a few of Miguna's ways but that does not blind me to some of the issues he has been communicating about in his book and in the close to six weeks that it has been published. I am not blind to ODM's mistakes either. I don't know who sent hooligans to these book launches or whether attending was their own initiative. It does not matter that much because either way it is a reflection of a terrible and dangerous level of intolerance spreading, and being allowed to spread fast, whether it is spontaneous or paid for. Look at what happened in Tana river; look at what is happening in the north-east. That is what intolerance and lack of proper governance leads to. And I am deliberately not mentioning PEV because we seem to have pushed that to the backs of our minds, unless it comes in handy to heckle Miguna about it (who by the way writes in his book that he has spoken with ICC investigators about PEV and has contributed his views to them. He has not hidden that fact.) Has anyone else noticed the dwindling traffic to Jukwaa? The reduced presence of some generally admired posters? Why would that be? Probably because for months now the discussion has been dominated by things Miguna. And have we been having a solid debate on issues of substance? A few times, yes, but on balance the discussion has descended into personal mud slinging contest between characters here. It has brought this board to al level that does not differ much from Nipate or RC Bowen. Personal attacks and a refusal to debate substance. If Jukwaaists are no longer able to debate issues in a reasonable and constructive manner, why should we expect others to do so? We are at risk of becoming hooligans ourselves. And while parliament is adopting the kind of regressive legislation that just a few months ago none of us would have thought possible, the pens (knives) here are almost solely used to attack individuals, be it Miguna, be it OO (even for merely sharing factual information with us), be they posters who seem to be here day in and day out with the objective of continuing a debate that is not taking us anywhere. Or is that they idea? To destroy Jukwaa? I am appalled and that is the last word I will write about this saga. I have other things to do.

demokrasia-kenya.blogspot.com/2012/08/pro-odm-goons-physically-attack-miguna.htmlBut I have a MAJOR worry. And it is not for Miguna Miguna. Rather it is for the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga: If this trend of hooliganism continues, some of the PM's enemies are going to hire trained goons to make a direct attempt to assassinate the author of Peeling Back the Mask and lay the blame squarely on these mindless heckling vandalizing hooligans. . Brother OO,You and Miguna should worry about Miguna and not Raila or ODM for that matter when it comes to Miguna's security and what may or many not happen to him. Speaking for myself and as I have previously blogged, Miguna should freely and without violence or being accosted be allowed to promote his book anywhere and wherever he wishes to, even where it appears it's confrontation and violence he hopes occurs to up his publicity. You say Raila should worry because some of the PM's enemies can hire assassins to kill Miguna and lay blame "squarely on these mindless heckling vandalizing hooligans" but Miguna's greater concern should be the very people he's working with closely in futile efforts to bring down Raila can have him killed in the hope such a killing would finally do the trick by having Raila blamed on it. It won't for the simple reason Kenyans are now more informed and sophisticated and can readily see and understand the plot and those who do and would blame Raila were never going to support him anyway or otherwise don't matter in the larger scheme of things. Having said that, let me hasten to add that I wish Miguna no harm and we all should and must condemn violence and go to great lengths to avoid confrontations and conflict. I am sure ODM leadership would be concerned with Miguna's safety as they would the safety of any other Kenyan. There is nothing ODM can do to ensure the safety of Miguna and any other Kenyan beyond what the government can do. In fact, going by reports even you have confirmed, Miguna is enjoying the safety and protection from the government all but a few Kenyans enjoy. The US Secret Service, which is one of the best in the world when it comes to protecting individuals, will readily tell you even their best of efforts do not guarantee the safety of their protectees. I also remember an expression from decades ago which I paraphrase if you see a lion charging at you, you don't get on your knees and put your hands together in prayer; rather, face the lion and use the hands to clap and shout anything but prayer--well, say a quick one like "God please help" and go back to shouting meaningless blabber which is the only thing lions understand. Better yet, avoid creating or being in situations an attack is all but assured.
