One must surely feel sorry for Ongoro who wanted to be Nairobi Senator on a CORD ticket who is now forced out to make way for Margaret Wanjiru. Through no fault of her own, the mandarins at ODM reward another political poor planner in the name of Wanjiru!
I hope they will stop screaming democracy!

It seems both parties are in the business of rigging. this is what am reading "Kimunya rigged in, Wambui rigged out... The list is endless even the so call clean people like the former anti-corruption chairman Omogeni who never participated in the primaries got a senatorial ticket denying outstanding veteran politician Abuya in Nyamira county. this is a country of thieves only depends on how experienced you are for political survival. How do you explain,Kimuya, dead wood Jakoyo, the eye sore Nyongo being on the ballot . God save Kenya nyaani ni wale wale.

Have you seen the Waititu-polls numbers vs Kidero's? Even if polls are fairy tales in Kenya, there really should be one the gives Kidero the lead. There is none. My opinion is simple. Kidero can not win without Wanjiru 'shaking butt' for him across the county. --That is, campaigning for CORD without a forked tongue. How do you make sure she does that after the wound of academic grade? You show her respect by killing for her, sacrificing that is, one of the fattest cows in the homestead! It is a trade-off, a buy-off, but what lurks in the heart of Ongoro now? must be cooled too! it is a chain reaction! Wanjiru vs Sonko! This is the Sonko who told a rally in Makadara: that he coughed, and Hard Man Ngumo ran away like a boy before his bully? what a character! I hope Wanjiru canes his dirty buttocks come March!

Kamale, At least Ongoro was given a direct nomination to run for MP for Ruaraka. What about the ODM fellow who spent time and money to campaign for the Ruaraka parliamentary seat, got majority votes, and now has to step aside for Ongoro? Is this not what has happened? Why did ODM bother to hold primaries in the 1st place? Why not quit the pretence and instead have its NEB + party "owners" spend a few days holed up in Orange House and decide who they would give their party nominations to? Even Nyayo's mlolongo strategy of the 1980s surely was less shambolic than this ridiculous ODM dictatorial episode we have just witnessed in the last few days. To describe it all as "shocking" is an understatement.

If Ongoro had been picked you would have come here with a tribal diatribe that ODM wants to impose jaluos on nairobians ,a good coach puts a player who is most likely to bring victory to the team ,and mama aka archbishop is such a player so focus on the coalition of suspects and leave CORD alone.

I agree that is what a clever party would do.....but do not cheat people that they should run for nominations if you have a different strategic view!

The man who won Rwaraka says he is going nowhere. Ongoro might end up in the cold especially given that her name was never on the ballot for anything, neither senator nor MP.

Ongoro rejects ODM's Ruaraka MP ticket www.nation.co.ke/News/politics/Ongoro-rejects-ODM-Ruaraka-MP-ticket/-/1064/1674086/-/11coah2/-/index.htmlNairobi Metropolitan Development assistant minister Elizabeth Ongoro has rejected ODM's offer to run for the Ruaraka parliamentary seat. Ms Ongoro said she was not interested in the seat and criticised the party’s move to hand the Nairobi Senator ticket to Bishop Margaret Wanjiru. ODM had initially given her the ticket. “I will not accept the seat because I know that Tom Kajwang’ who has been vying for the seat for three terms won the nominations. He deserves it and my conscience will not allow me to accept it. I am very bitter and I will not allow myself to be used as the instrument of injustice,” Ms Ongoro said. The former Kasarani MP said that the move by the party had created the impression that it was okay to dump academic dwarfs to the Senator's position. “If Bishop Wanjiru did not qualify for the gubernatorial position on the ground of academic qualifications, what makes it right for her to vie for any other top position. One wrong cannot be concealed by another wrong," she said. "What has happened to me is a classic example of discrimination on the ground of tribe and gender. It is sad that this comes at a time when the country is striving to achieve equality.” The assistant minister said she had not been served with any written notification, but she learnt about the party’s position from the media and was shocked. “Despite being a party official, no communication has been made to me by any party official, the nomination board or the strategy team. I have campaigned for the senator seat and I won yet Mr (ODM National Election Board chairman Franklin) Bett decided to state that I could not vie for the seat because I am from a certain tribe," she said. She said despite the party’s move, she will continue supporting Cord presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s bid for State House, saying that his triumph would be advantageous for all members of the Cord affiliate parties. Ms Ongoro pointed out that she would rather stay without an elective position, than run on a ticket that belongs to someone else who won after using his money and energy to campaign. She said that she would announce her next political move after consulting her supporters and other party members. Mr Bett on Wednesday said that the awarding of Nairobi Senate Seat to Bishop Margaret Wanjiru instead of Ms Ongoro was done for strategic reasons. “The decision was reached by the National Executive Committee, which is ODM’s top decision making organ” Mr Bett said.

Saw her on TV and I was impressed by he resoluteness. Made a lot of sense in her argument about taking away the seat from Kajwang whom she helped campaign for.
Hopefully the good graces of the Lord will touch Wanjiru to do the same thing!

She knows that Kajwang is going to court and there is no court that can rule this thing in her favor. She was not on the ballot, so how could she have been nominated for MP? To complicate matters, the party has not given any valid reason why Kajwang must be disqualified. One cannot help but feel her pain. Interestingly, all this is still passed as democracy, my good Lord.

If the reason to drop her was premised on not being popular, it would have perhaps washed. But suggesting that it was ethnic balancing that caused her to be dropped!
I get the feeling that ODM may have not thought this thing out well enough.

I get the feeling that ODM may have not thought this thing out well enough. between the refusal of Kathurima to do the necessary, and thus his sacking, and the replacement by Bett, has not been enough time to plan, design and commit the perfect political crime. So it is a theater of the absurd.
