www.the-star.co.ke/news/article-105138/i-will-meet-waiganjo-pmPrime Minister Raila Odinga has said he will meet with alleged police Imposter Joshua Waiganjo. The Prime minister made the announcement at Uhuru Park during the launch of his Presidential campaign. In an exclusive interview with NTV Joshua Waiganjo said that he wants to meet with the PM and Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka. Waiganjo claims he was involved in meetings with members of a political party and senior police officials concerning Raila’s campaign in the Rift Valley . Waiganjo is accused of masquerading as a senior police officer for the past five years. He is currently in remand in Naivasha while an independent commission set up by President Kibaki probes how Waiganjo managed to operate as a fake Deputy PPO for so long. The committee is expected to hand in its report on the findings tomorrow.

If Waiganjo sat in at security meetings where privileged information was liberally shared and exchanged he may know a thing or two about underhand dealings in the police force. Information that could well inform the real and necessary police reforms necessary to get us out of the woods. Although he has been lightly dismissed as an imposter, conman, criminal and a host of other names, what he has to share should not be dismissed off so lightly as he may let us in on the how the police is/was used to help dismantle perceived opponents.

Top police officers and most likely folks with connection to statehouse know very well who Mr. Waiganjo is, all other stuff that the police are coining are nonsense. May the PM meet this guy as soon as possible before he's eliminated by dark forces.

I am honestly surprised that to some people Waiganjo is some hero that now Raila wants to meet!
This man is a criminal who cheated his way into the force, is facing countless criminal charges in various courts and a handful of peopl have actually complained of how they were conned by this man. This man who is capable of having given Iteere and Mbijjiwe Land Cruisers for which he could not even provide registration numbers!!
Raila may think he has seen an opportunity to make political capital out of Waiganjo, but I can predict that he will come out with egg on his face.
Perhaps he might want to read what the Nation writes about the meetings with the TNA chairman of Naivasha who is also some council of elders chairman!

In yesterday’s uhuru park rally, Raila boasted how he and Kibaki did great things particularly on infrastructure development (I guess in the spirit of nusu-mkate policy). Then in the same rally he appears to distance himself from the Waiganjo affair and goes on to point out the rot in the police. The question that easily comes to mind is when did he as the PM of the Republic of Kenya know of this decay and what did he do about it?.

Kamalet, This 'criminal' Waiganjo should be allowed to give his side of the story. It is him who requested for a meeting with Raila or Kalonzo. For once let's not allow our disdain for Raila to blind us to the fact that there could be rot in the police force that needs to be unearthed. In fact I prefer that Kalonzo meets him instead so that the Railaphobians do not have the fodder to inflame their emotions. My feeling is there is more than meets the eye. The speed with which Kibaki moved to appoint the commission to investigate the matter instead of allowing the 'independent' Inspector General Kimaiyo to sort out the issue also leaves a lot to be desired. It could be a cover up. Waiganjo claims all that he has been accused of are trumped up charges and I somehow believe him. We all saw how Mbijjiwe tried to distance himself from this 'criminal' by even claiming that they had never met, yet there were photo sessions to the contrary. How come all those charges are cropping up suddenly yet the guy has been roaming freely and serving as a senior police officer for the last five years? My only worry is will the guy be given time to spill the beans? Kalonzo needs to move fast to meet this guy before he becomes Marehemu. After all, the prisons department falls under his docket.

Waiganjo sees a media opportunity and decides to tell Raila of the campaign plot by some characters in Naivasha to stop him and Raila actually falls for it! A clever Raila would have asked that the IG interviews the man and establishes what it is Waiganjo wants to tell Raila and Kalonzo!!!

Kamalet, The Inspector General does not need to be directed by anybody to interview Waiganjo but rather he is supposed to have done it on his own volition, and he has not. For God's sake, the guy is supposed to be 'independent'. He could not even reprimand Kibaki for interfering in his duties. Sometimes back, Waiganjo's lawyer had claimed he feared his client's life was in danger. The guy seems to know too much that there are guys who are intent on eliminating him. If the guy is a criminal then there are top police officers who have been his collaborators otherwise the guy couldn't have survived all this time while masquerading as senior police officer. Those guys will be keen to protect their identities. I am even suspecting Kimemia could be in the know considering he was PS Internal Security hence the speed with which he (hiding behind Kibaki) set up the commission to investigate the Waiganjo saga. At this rate, it will not take long before those who have come up with the parallel police force or the 'Ngoroko' theory are vindicated!

Mangai and others,
One reason why some of us find it hard to imagine Raila being in charge of the country is due to his constant display of naivety and gullibility as a leader. Not everything needs to be politicized, there are times, and this is one such time, when a leader ought to be serious and deal with the issues at hand as a leader.
Any keen observer will tell you outright that Waiganjo, as Kamale rightly points out, is a very daring criminal who took advantage of the structural and administrative weaknesses of the Kenyan police to plant himself right inside the force in Nakuru. His intention must have been to use his 'position' to fleece innocent people, and that he did with much abandon until he was busted.
What happened in Nakuru, to me, is a terrible human error born of unnecessary too much trust and lack of personal accountability and due diligence on the part of the PPO and his officers. But Waiganjo being the super con that he is, does know that the only way to survive is to take advantage of the fault lines that exist in the coalition government, politicize the issue and if possible get a visa out of the country.

It is truly shocking that some individuals can dismiss the so call fraudster, conman as just criminal . May be the Raila haters should try asking just for a lift on a police chopper & tell us if it is possible. Lets face it if this guy is a criminal as you want as to believe then he is a small thief & there are bigger thieves behind the seen. There is no way on earth anybody can impersonate even a junior police officer for five years while more so operating from the top most office in the Rift valley . Kenyans are not fools. My take was that his handlers lost control of his activities of which he was carrying out on their behalf. Wherever you hid the truth will come out and will be a bitter pill to swallow.

Mwalimumkuu,Sometimes it is not prudent to defend the indefensible even with the many grey areas around this saga. Suppose we remove Raila out for a moment, would you propose say the Kenya National Human Rights Commission interview this Waiganjo guy to get his side of the story? Personally I wouldn't mind as long as we get to the bottom of this matter.

Mangai,I am not entirely opposed to anyone interviewing this Waiganjo man as I am more than certain that the outcome will not be any diametrically different from what Kavuludi came up with. What I am, however, opposed to is for a person as high in profile as the PM to allow himself to be sucked into the scheming of such a criminal in his desperate attempt to circumvent the law and the justice process.

From where I seat Waiganjo has the same line of thinking as Maina Njenga.......taking advantage of a political fool. All I know is that conmen live off greedy people and Raila is nothing different! Kamalet,I doubt Cliff Ombeta could also be a Raila sycophant.... www.the-star.co.ke/news/article-105293/what-impostor-waiganjo-wants-tell-railaWHAT 'IMPOSTOR' WAIGANJO WANTS TO TELL RAILA THURSDAY, JANUARY 31, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY IBRAHIM ORUKO AND SUSAN MUHINDI Joshua Waiganjo, the man accused of masquerading as a senior police officer yesterday sought to meet with Prime Minister Raila Odinga to give him details of what he knew of the post election violence. Waiganjo's lawyer Cliff Ombeta said his client wanted to disclose what he knew of the violence in parts of Naivasha and Nakuru as well as about his years in "service as a police officer". "My client has signed an affidavit detailing what he knows about the post election violence; about who was involved and exactly what was done," said Ombeta yesterday. He said his client was at the time of the post election violence based in Nakuru and Naivasha where he served as a policeman and was privy to some of the operations that went on. “Waiganajo also wants to say who else was doing his work before he was hired because there are people who were doing what he was doing with the full knowledge of the police chiefs,” said Ombeta. He explained that his client had been 'betrayed' and wanted to tell his side of the story even if it meant reveal secrets that his former superiors did not want to be revealed. “If you use and dumb a person what do you expect? He will definitely do what he must do to save himself and that may include revealing secrets,” said Ombeta. Yesterday, Raila said he had accepted Waiganjo's request to meet him but did not say when this will happen. Raila told a rally at Uhuru Park that he not only wanted to hear what Waiganjo had to say but he would use the information he received at the meeting "to get to the bottom of the rot in the police service." Odinga said time had wanted to clean the muck in the police force as part of the ongoing police reforms. He explained that his actions were not tribal and that he simply wanted to ensure sanity was restored in the police force. “Waiganjo says he wants to meet me, and I will meet him so that I can know where the truth is. This is because there is rot in the police force, the truth has to be known, I want to clean the police force,” he told the rally at Uhuru park soon after he presented his papers to the IEBC. The much awaited report by the National Police Service Commission probe team to investigate Waiganjo was not released yesterday as the commission had promised. Instead, the commission chairman, Johnstone Kavuludi said the team had yet to present its report. “We did promise you that we will have the report by January 31 and I am assuring you that it will be ready,” he said yesterday. The team was set up on January 5 after President Kibaki ordered investigation into the activities of Waiganjo which he said compromised the country's security. Three top cops including Rift Valley provincial police boss, John M’mbijiwe, the Anti Stock Theft commandant in Gilgil Michael Remi Ngugi and Njoro divisional police chief Peter Njeru Nthiga have already been suspended following Waiganjo's exposure. Former Commissioner of Police Mathew Iteere has since denied Waiganjo's claims that he is the one who recruited and promoted him to the rank of an assistant commission of police. Testifying before the probe team, Iteere said he had been filled with 'anguish' and was 'embarrassed' that an 'imposter' had attended top-level security meetings. Waiganjo who was has been custody soon after he was 'exposed' is facing several criminal charges in Nairobi, Naivasha, Nyeri and Kirinyaga. Over the last fortnight, Waiganjo has alleged that his life was in danger and said in an exclusive interview with the NTV that he would only reveal what he knew to Raila or the Inspector General David Kimaiyo. Waiganjo, who was called to testify before the probe team, declined saying that the information he had implicated some members of the team. Yesterday, his lawyer Ombeta said his client had evidence showing 'who hired him, when and for what purpose as well as the activities and operations he has engaged in since his appointment." Waiganjo who is out on bond has been charged in a number of criminal proceedings in Naivasha, Nyeri and Nairobi. In those cases, he is facing charges of robbery with violence and obtaining money with false pretense. He has however denied the charges and is out on bond.Waiganjo yesterday asked a court to suspend all the criminal proceedings filed against him. Through Lawyer John Khaminwa, Waiganjo claimed that the local dailies have portrayed and continue to portray him as an ‘imposter’ and a ‘fake police’ which has condemned him without fair hearing. “The activities of the appointed team of investigators and conduct of the local dailies has been prejudicial to me and has violated my rights,” he says. Waiganjo in his court documents wants the High court to grant orders restraining the Director of Public Prosecution, Attorney General, Chief Magistrates Court in Naivasha, Nyeri and Nairobi from proceeding with the criminal cases and any other judicial proceedings. He also seeks an injunction against the AG from preferring further charges against him pending the hearing and determination of the current application. High court Judge David Majanja directed Waiganjo to serve the respondents with the application ahead of the hearing date on February 4. He argues that the continued parallel investigation into his conduct as directed by the president and the current criminal proceedings are a violation to ‘the principle of presumption of innocence’.

See how the man cleverly brings in the PEV issue, he knows there are free visas out there directly connected with PEV and he can get them and leave for Europe if he plays his cards well. I am simply amazed at how you already know that this is cheap propaganda from the guy. It leaves me thinking what you know about what this guy may say and why you are not even willing to listen to what exactly he has to say and what kind of proof he has, before you dismiss him... and yet when there have been others who have claimed to have info on the PEV and did not even hint at what they may have you were ready to listen. What exactly do you have to lose if this man speaks? Puliz!
