0520hrs. Wake up family and they ready up to go vote

0540hrs. Drop family at their polling station

0545hrs. park car and join queue. On my side about 400 people in front of me and other side has longer circa 1200

0610hrs. Shouts of people in the front of the queue tells me the station has opened.

0710hrs. An hour and a half on the queue and I have not moved an inch

0810 hrs. Made progress and have moved 20 metres since I got to the station

0900hrs. Still 20 metres since I got to the station. Many queue jumpers and women renting out babies to to jump queue.

0905. Word comes through that now babies will also be marked as having voted to stop the being recycled to jump queues

0905 hrs. Moved another 5 metres and decide at the rate the queue is moving will only cast my vote at noon.

0910 hrs. Leave queue and head back to my house. Will try again at 1630 hrs.

In the meantime my family at the other station have voted! Talk of inefficiency .

Kits clearly problematic but in Kileleshwa when it failed the switch to manual was seamless.

Long long queues! Seems centers font have enough laptop batteries and no extension cables to charge at ACK polling station kahawa sukari. The battery problem could be pretty wide .

Queued at 5.30 and voted at 9,00.

Noted long but orderly queues too at Baraka and Bidii primary schools' polling centers. All is proceeding well safe for the slow pace with the Presiding officers estimating an average 6 mins per voter.

At this rate, there is no possibility that voters in streams with 700 voters will have cast theirs by a generous 8pm deadline.

Long long queues at Embakasi South. Will have to go back at 2.00pm and then wait till 8.00pm if need be. Good to hear that its 6 mins per voter but some people who have stood in line from 5.30 am were virtually crawling along as at 7.30 am. Lets see how it goes…wonder if we shall have to go into a second day of voting although don’t know if this is allowed in law….

Queue at my polling station was incredibly long, so decided to do some observation at other polling stations, then come back early afternoon. However, there was mass confusion as there are 2 polling stations there in very close proximity (St Mary's Pri Sch & Karen Chief's office). As a result, many people getting in the wrong queues, & much general confusion. Little or no communication from IEBC...

Ballot boxes at Moi Avenue Primary are already close to full, but the queue of voters is wrapping around the entire block. P.O says no additional boxes are coming and that they'll have to make do with what they have.

Pleasant voting experience by Mohinder Dhillon


I had most pleasant VIP treatments in casting my vote in less than 15 minutes. It was like a red-carpet treatment, with utmost courtesy and efficiency. With slight handicap walking with walking stick I was spotted the moment I got out of my car and cheered by Kenyans that I have made an effort, enough volunteers to help me to climb Muguga School on a slope and handed me to the polite police who escorted me voting class room, checked my identity and put my thumb on the computer as verification. I don’t think Presidential candidate would have casted his vote any faster.


Kenyans always treat old and handicapped people with courtesy in public places, lifts and as a well -travelled man I have always appreciated the wonderful Kenyan friendliness. Then why should there be violence especially with all prayers that have been recited? It is an open secret that it is the politicians who spark the violence. I hope Kenyans will not be misguided and be guided by God.

voted at st Marys school Lavington. The queues are quite long with voter's taking an average of 3 hours to get to the front of the queue. The bvr kits are not being used and when I asked the IEBC official why they are not using them they said that the 6 digit pin used to access the system did not work even after getting several new pins regenerated by the system. I observed a few other stations and noted the general confusion about which streams to go to with most voters using their last name instead of the first names. I also noted that most of the polling stations in small compounds had the longest lines because you could only be split into streams once your in the school compound which means even if your stream is empty and your at the back of the line you will still have to wait in line for longer than necessary to vote. The iebc staff I met were knowledgeable and friendly and kenyans pleasantly waiting in line.

Just toured some polling stations in the Eastlands working class section of Nairobi.

In the Pipeline area for example, queues were snaking in and around entire neighbourhoods, stretching to two kilometres at some points.

By around 1 pm people were still waiting patiently to cast their vote.

The area is very cosmopolitan, multi-ethnic and with supporters of all the major coalitions, especially CORD and Jubliee.

Yet looking at the peaceful and orderly lineups of young and old, men and women amiably chatting next to each other, you cannot tell their affiliations.

They all seem to be committed to deepening the national democratic renewal which hit a highlight with the promulgation of the constitution and which appears to surpass another historic milestone by today's end.

pole ndugu! That also befell the under 25 in our compound. Some trooped back from 11 am, having voted though.

As always I went at 1 pm and in under 40 minutes had voted!

Not smart to go now but definately smarter than kurauka.

Having sundowner as I await close and just as always will sleep soundly to wake up tomorrow and start taking in casualties (70% never return, hence the reason they did not want today)!

IEBC assures members of the public who were already on the queue by 5.00 pm, the official time for closing the polls, that will be allowed to vote. At this rate, the last vote could be cast very late in the night.

1430 hrs. Rejoined shorter and more organised queues

1525hrs. Joined my voting stream and this lady was pulling off male queue jumpers to the applause of males on the queues

1720hrs. Finally cast my votes Nd my democratic exercise now complete!

It's not being debunked. It's being decimated! I am actually surprised. So much for the Sang October surprise. Kaloozer seems to be delivering the numbers so far though....

Unless there have been massive rains at ODM zones today, to say they are doing poorly is an understatement. They are being demolished! A reverse tsunami as it were....

Voted in the afternoon & 30 minutes later cast my vote to sent RAO into an early, & well deserved, retirement.
