A better view of the picture... ...original size of same pic Kenya & US presidents were basically desk mates I wonder who was in charge of the protocol arrangement because that couldn't have happened by accident. There are always ways to sneak in meetings off the radar...

The bigger story is that one of Obama and the Danish PM taking what Fox was calling a 'selfie' but the series of the photos has more to read about than the proximity of Uhuru. Look out for Michelle's face and final seating position once Obama went to address the occasion!

Kamale, you are referring to this gem of a photo that captured the Danish PM taking a selfie with Barry & Cameron. In fact one British tabloid ran it on the front page with the caption "NO SELFIE RESPECT!"so while some played... ...others mourned... There were other controversial handshakes like this handshake with Cuba's Raul Castro... ...but as the circus left town... ...spare a thought for those who opted to stay home & sign a book at the embassy as when all is said and done, at the end of the day what counts is Uhuru received a warm welcome upon his arrival... ...and sat on the same row as his peer the POTUS before Cameron weaseled his way in for the selfie

He seems to explain the moment and apparently it was blown out of proportion. m.news24.com/channel24/Gossip/News/The-truth-behind-that-Obama-selfie-20131211

No, it did certainly not happen by accident! When it comes to protocol, there is a huge war of nerves between the ANC core and the Yankees. Only a few months ago, Tokyo Sexwale ---No, amigos, I am not making that name up! was detained at an american airport. His name was on the terrorists watch. That is the list which still had Mandela's name when Bill Clinto was president! Then there was the Mandela inauguration where Fidel Castro was to have front-row seat right as the most honoured. Clinton threw a temper ---then he would not come! ''When you were still busy making a career hanging blacks as governor of Arkansas, and would not even consider condemning apartheid, Castro was already a veteran comrade. His whole life, he fought apartheid with us! Stay away Bill, the party will go on without you!'' The POTUS was told by someone who was later fired by Thabo Mbeki! ==may be in exchange for american support of NEPAD or something like that! But I liked the way Obama handled it. In fact it was Raul Castro who was surprised at the Obama frontal basketball shoulder check! ---Some die-hards in Miama are livid! As for the son of Jomo? Ach, Obama joked Guantanamo where he can kidnap him to is far worse than Dutch cells, so UK better oblige the West Afrikan lady!

Here is a bit of the drama involving Tokyo Sex www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-24709294A long time ago during the inauguration of Nelson Mandela as president of South Afrika, he was still too hot for some of the best friends who came yesterday to the stadium! Bill Clinton, then president of the USA, was not going to get in the mix of this bad guys company!

Political daggers are often drawn for the most mundane actions in both the UK and the US. That said, the photographer himself did come under attack in the comments section to his back story on the photo when he seemed to shrug his shoulders & say "We are in Africa", a statement that wasn't taken lightly by some African readers

Jakaswanga, the one thing Obama's Secret Service team would demand to know beforehand is the seating arrangement at the stadium. That would mean Obama's protocol officer would be in the loop on which world leaders would be his "seatmates". It's therefore very strange that they allowed an "ICC indictee" to sit so close to the POTUS. Speaking of temper tantrums do you remember how Ambassador Ranneberger reacted on the podium during the promulgation of the new constitution when al Bashir waltzed in? Unfortunately his angry reaction isn't covered in this Citizen clip but the ramifications of that visit by a man wanted by the ICC are: The Kenyan ambassador to Sudan was promptly expelled from Khartoum, after Justice Ombija exercising his judicial freedom guaranteed by the new constitution effectively banned al Bashir from KE. Relations between KE & Sudan went south & eventually, KE backed down and decided to abide by the AU rule accommodating Sudan at the expense of the Rome Statute. Ombija, who is as sharp as they come, defended himself thus: Maybe we are reading too much into Obama's handshakes with "rogue" heads of states. He might just have good manners that transcend the formal national interest stance he is supposed to take. At the end of the day, the Republicans will make minced meat out of him for extending his hand...
