Once upon a time, this forum was smoking hot with incisive discussions, beefs, punches and counterpunches then it went silent, what happened? What happened to Kamale,The waragi swigging Jakaswanga,my brother Omundu,The Colossus aka OO,OtishOtish,MwalimuMKuu,PODP bring back back the fire guys, alot is happening on the world scene and the local scene, lets bring our perspectives to the many loyal readers of this blog.Personally i know i have played my little role in the quiet nature of the forum but iam all open to engage the bright minds here on any topical issue brought up.For example is the tetanus jab laced with contraceptives as claimed by Catholics?Between the Government and the church who is saying the truth?Has OO left the forum to propel itself by the momentum already gained?Who killed the security forces in Kapedo and why are the politicians in that region crying wolf?Is ODM sinking? Is Jubilee unable to stem the wave of insecurity in the country until it dialogues with RAILA?
Lets remove the gloves and punch guys!

I don’t know how to put this without it sounding very bad but I'll try. I see the loss of contributions being directly attributable to the incredible brilliance and sheer volume of topics covered jakaswanga.
Let me try and explain. Have you ever attended a party/gathering where one person holds forth going on and on and on spewing one thought-provoking analysis or story one after the other, covering almost every single topic on earth? Notice how everyone mostly remains silent and devotedly soaks in the wisdom until the wee hours of the morning? Questions or outside contributions may come but only infrequently, the speaker being more than articulate. To an outsider looking through a window, who can't hear what's being said, it would look like the party is dead.

I get you Horth, what you are saying is that you would propose a situation where few salient hot topics are dealt with systematically before others are introduced. But then maybe the founders of the forum wanted it to be a marketplace of ideas where each comes to sell their wares. My beef is that there has been some silence on the forum that could be a harbinger of a resounding earthquake or lull!

It's you, I think. Jukwaa's "front page" says that its main (and only?) thing is politics. But politics is not a major activity for many, and there's only so much that people can take---unless it's really exciting stuff. Right now there is hardly anything exciting in Kenyan politics: The Jubilee government seems to have settled into a comfortable groove and is doing business as usual, which usually means zero for Wanjiku. The top leadership certainly seems to be working well: Don Quixote had Sancho Panza, Jomo had Moi, and now Uhuru has Ruto. And Uhuru is always showing leadership to the rest of his AU buddies, by doing things the way they used to be done in the old days and reminding everyone of what it really means to be at the top: whenever he is on his way out of the country or back in, the Vice President, Chief of Military, this CS, that CS, ... all line up at the airport, like flower-girls. How soon before delegations start lining up to pledge loyalty? For its part, the CORD opposition appears to have firmly settled on the path of self-destruction. Still, to be fair to them, it takes hard work to come up with, and articulate, policies and plans that show that an alternative government is waiting in the wings and could do better, here and there, with this and with that. Why work when you can just make noise instead. But perhaps there is no point in worrying about that: half of the coalition says the other half consists of Jubilee moles, and the other half responds in similar style. That would mean that all of the opposition is actually owned by Jubilee, and it would explain why the opposition is not doing any real opposing beyond " we know the names behind [insert latest scandal] and we can reveal!". As 2014 comes to an end, the most exciting/important/invigorating/etc. news on the Kenyan political scene is Mudavadi's announcement that he will be a presidential candidate in 2017. It confirms what many know to be true but are reluctant to freely admit---that if you have the money and the connections, the stuff you get to smoke/snort/drink will be of a much higher quality than would otherwise be the case.

Poor Jakaswanga....for all his wisdom and wit, he is the Ebola that is killing Jukwaa!
Jukwaa is active when there is nothing serious like politics being discussed, but gets more and more boring when it becomes an intellectual pastime (with tongue fully in cheek!).
Who is there to write the truth for us without us 'outing' them through the betrayal of their names? Can Kamale discuss the imminent collapse of ODM without being seen as a Jubilee supporter wishing just that? Kamale is perhaps not courageous enough to start debate on the failures of Jubilee on security matters because it degenerates into the tribes of the security heads rather than the actual problem!
and this can go on and on and on.....

Wana Jukwaa,
Salamu zangu pokeani,
It is my pleasure to be able to write these few lines.
It is also my pleasure to be able to confidently believe that Jukwaa is not "dead". Neither will it die, yet.
For those who have been here long enough, will attest to the fact that Jukwaa is only going through a phase. One of many, as it does from time to time.
Its prolific members are also humans. Creatures of needs who may be going through their us and downs as we all do from time to time.
We all have matters of health to deal with periodically. We also have families to care for, what with their complex needs and demands placed before us. Sometimes we have our own trying calamities. Matters of work, studies, money, debts, children, success and failures.
Life is never always easy and smooth. Occasionally we face our challenges and they can at times be difficult to deal with. And sometimes we die!
I remember just the other day when our own Kasuku left us in a rather sudden, painful and horrific way. We all read about it and some of us even mourned her death. Oloo refers to dying as an act of "rejoining our ancestors". Thank God, some of us are still here, at least bado tupo and everyday is a bonus.
Indeed Jakswanga fed us with so much for so long. He kept us going for as long as he could. And so did some of others, like our OtishO, Rasta Mank, Kamale, Omundustrong, Mwalimumkuu and various others.
I would like to think that our many beloved members are still around and read these pages every day, just like I do. Whether I am well or not, I will always click in to see what is happening and who said what. Even if I may not write as frequently as I used to, but I still click in and read whatever may be available for the day. And I agree, lately it has been empty, but soon we will be up and running, again and again and I am confident of the same.
Baadae.

Lets see what time brings.

Don't you guys think this thread is a bit premature and presumptious?
Jukwaa was launched on August 22, 2005.
Its death has been predicted over and over and over again, over the years, by many people whose decaying corpses are littered all over cyberspace, unclaimed.

I had some family catastrophes to deal with, not least of all a miscarriage. Sh!t does happen. And when life dishes it out plenty, one does the best one can wade. Been picking myself up yes.

Jakaswanga,
Pole for the challenges confronting you and perhaps your loved ones. I am pleased to see that you are coping, somehow. Having you back, even if 'limping', is a pleasure. Time heals and I wish you all the best.
