Frequently we like to compare ourselves with others, without appreciating the impact of their culture as a nation upon their status and achievements (South Koreans and other 'Asian Tigers' come to mind). As a nation unguided by those enabled by their positions, we are like a freight without a compass. We always appear busy fighting fires, without trying to understand causes of the same. Our governance is chaotic, almost anarchical in behaviour, lacking in discipline, methodical organisation or ability to provide desirable solutions to our many every day and evolving problems.
As a nation, and after more than fifty years of independence, we are yet to realise the full potential of becoming a cohesive one. As we march along, half asleep and half awake and in multiplicity of directions, we are indeed a nation still divided. Unyielding to the modern realities of our existence, unforgiving or accepting to our fateful ethnic divisions.
As a people, fragmented and collectively, we are hardworking and ambitious. But our obvious ethnic fragmentation, misguided divisions and ignorance-led hostility readily fail us in realising our full potential.
What is our culture as a nation, I ask. What direction are we moulding ourselves into and do we really know where we are heading to?

Ndugu Abdulmote, you have me most confused!
How can you ask this? Our culture? Who are we? The 43 peoples?
We are a people of peoples... culture of cultures ... we are cultural peoples, but we don't have a culture. We have cultures. And we don't need to be one culture to be one.
We are like the Americans .. like us, they too once had cultures, but not a culture .. we follow their nyayo, only hundreds of times faster.
Unfortunately, every day I am counting more losses than gains. But for those born yesterday, we can't shed off our ancestral identities fast enough .. I spit! It is not because of difference in cultures that we have disagreements!
People cross tribal lines everyday to coin coalitions that frustrate even their brothers and mothers! Culture? Nothing to do with it.
Unless we are talking about corruption .. that unifies us really well. Corruption is our daily conversation.

A perfect example of ignorance-led hostility proudly presented by Alfred Keter completely explains why Kenya as a country is failing miserably.

A perfect example of ignorance-led hostility proudly presented by Alfred Keter completely explains why Kenya as a country is failing miserably. To be so stupid as to assert the President and his comptroller of state house would call a toll-port come weighing bridge to have released, over-loaded lorries with faulty papers belonging to a moonlighting nominated MP of a junior coalition partner!? keter's brains must have been totally neutralised, or, dare I say in these issues when men are accompanied by women, probably his muhindi side-plate sucked his brains out too, after injecting him with inducements unspeakable. he displayed the arrogance of a simpleton, the stupidity of a moron, and ridiculed himself into a silly infant: we make the laws, we can break them if we like! One becomes afraid of the slogan: power to the youth!

If the intensity has any relationship with seniority, just imagine how the president's call would sound like! It would blow your ears off.

Funerals should never be places for political rants. This is one hell of a disgusting Kenyan culture we can all do without!

Abdul Mote, In Kenya where, politically speaking, the morally challenged elite fosters a culture of sycophancy, lauding of criminals, disdaining honesty, mocking hard work, accepting adminstrative mediocrity, there is an anti-Christ arisen. --the Jicho Pevu Moha. In addition to Boniface Mwangi, one of the most extraordinary Kenyans is Mohamed Moha Ali, the investigative journalist, also known as ''Mohamed Al-Shabaab'' to his hecklers. www.standardmedia.co.ke/ktn/?videoID=2000088785&video_title=jeff-koinange-live-with-award-winning-investigative-journalist-mohammed-ali-part-1 He is dubbed the last of Mohicans. He fears no man, only Allah. Will not be bribed off the path of exposing the Truth and corruption in Kenya, ready to die in service of questioning the morals of our leadership and government. You want to talk about moral fiber of the republic AbdulMote? The opposite and oppositional conscience, or morality, against our official and public state worship of socio-political rot and adminstrative vermin? then here is a gem from the cultural vaults of Kenya. That detractors branded him Al-Shabaab tells you the sad story, of the depths of our moral crisis. It shows how defect the moral compass, and bearings of some of our public narrative have become. But that Moha Mohamed Ali exists, his life fearlessly risks, defying bribery and monetary gain, also reveals the health of our resistance culture. It is alive at its core, a confident and indomitable crucible, molten and seething, keeping vigil, creeping toward an explosive climax where the [ land-grabbing] compost and [ tax-payer pillage] decomposition at the top, must burn and give way in a rebirth. The liberation from this statal rot which we celebrate as democracy. When a nation reclaims her dignity, and words like democracy and integrity are truly mouthed without cynical grins of mockery.HA! It is the necessary illusion of every corrupt and rotten power elite in history, that they will last forever. Alas, only the ash heap of history awaits.
