When I read Uhuru gave Malawian financial aid because of floods when no aid has ever been offered to flood-stricken Kenyans in Nyando made me wonder. There must be a clear relationship between Uhuru and Malawi to warrant such a cordial gesture. Then it occurred to me.
Kamuzu Banda of Malawi was very close to Jomo Kenyatta. They share a strong heritage - I was once told the Chews were an extended clan of the Agikuyus. Kamuzu and Jomo also had sinister ideals - and that included their well known associations - Apartheid South Africa and Israeli- when other Africans countries shun the two. But of importance was their ethnocentricity - Jomo kikuyunised every public positions during his reign hoarding opportunities and subsequently wealth to his kin and kith [one only needs to see how arable land was divided amongst his people] and during his reign - Agikuyu was spoken everywhere. Equally, of similar significance, Kamuzu made his mother tongue - Chewa - the national language forcing everyone else to speak his language and turned Malawi is his little fiefdom.
So, when Uhuru sent Gov't coffers to Malawi, in flood aid, especially when the current President Mutharika is a disciple of Kamuzu Banda, it was not difficult to see the whole aid package as simply to foster the bigger Nyumba doctrine.
