Dear Jukwaaists:Some of you may have noticed that as the Administrator, I have swung open the gates to new members. There have been almost 140 applications pending since January. Half an hour ago, faced with the following choices in terms of making a decision on a potential new Jukwaa family member: I did an uncharacteristically RECKLESS thing. I opted for ACCEPT to all who applied for membership. We are now close to 600 members.
The impact was IMMEDIATE.I am sure some of you have already been confronted with an unsolicited pitch from a dodgy/shady cyber salesperson dangling a quick loan in front of your face. Those of you who did not see the message, wont because I promptly DELETED it.So watch out for the new members! Some of them are going to prove to be conmen and kooks.THE MAJORITY HOWEVER, SHOULD TURN OUT ALRIGHT. To the aforesaid confidence tricksters and insane characters: DON'T WORRY:
OVER HERE AT JUKWAA WE HAVE VERY HUMANE WAYS OF CHOPPING OFF YOUR HEADS.
In other words, if you are suspect, your stint in Jukwaa will be mercifully SHORT LIVED.Onyango Jukwaa Administrator Nairobi Friday March 20, 2015

By the way, I have started DELETING inappropriate posts.
I do it like a silent snake-viciously.
I do not explain, do not announce.
Experiment and watch the results.
Go ahead: try posting some nonsense.
Then sit back and ogle at your laptop, desktop, smartphone, tablet or whichever gadget you access Jukwaa with.
Wham!
Bam!
You silly post is GONE!
Forever.
Isn't that neat?
Keep reporting posts that are not kosher.
But watch out:
If you are MALICIOUS, I will throw YOU out instead.

First casualty:
juliana57859.
She clearly does not understand what Jukwaa is all about.
I have deleted the thread where she is going on and on and on and on about someone who apparently saved her life.

Tell me Sir, are you administratively blind to the fact that we hardly have contributing females here? the bog needs a female-friendly plan. (there could be females here masquerading as men of course!)

Jakaswanga:
Please check your borderline sexist/misogynist innuendo.
The assumption that Jukwaa needs such a section implies that those are the only issues that will boost female population.

Jakaswanga:Please check your borderline sexist/misogynist innuendo. The assumption that Jukwaa needs such a section implies that those are the only issues that will boost female population. Onyango Oloo Administrator Police are investigating Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti over claims that he brutally assaulted and raped a woman who visited him in his private office in Westlands on Saturday night. Parklands police have received a complaint from a 29-year-old woman, who was admitted to Nairobi Women’s Hospital. The MP admitted meeting the woman on Saturday afternoon, the day she claims to have been attacked, but vehemently denied raping or beating her up. It is the latest in increasing cases of sexual violence, especially against women and children. Only last week, a British paedophile was jailed after he was found guilty of preying on Kenyan boys in Gilgil, where he was an aid worker for two decades. And last month, another MP was accused of sexually harassing a female member of his staff, including sending her offensive messages. The matter was later resolved out of court. According to the 2008/2009 Demographic and Health Survey, 45 per cent of women aged 15-49 have experienced either physical or sexual violence. www.nation.co.ke/news/Woman-alleges-rape-in-MPs-private-office/-/1056/2662506/-/w67svh/-/index.html

Onyango Oloo Administrator I checked Oloo. I was careful. My worry is not the female population, but the CONTRIBUTING ones. (for all I know half the Jukwaa population could be females, only they are not contributing as such! And, there are a myrriad thinkable issues on which females can contribute of course --the late dada Kasuku and Nuclear energy were one, and R2D2 had an unrivalled passion for all things GENETICALLY manipulated. But in bourgeois sociology salesmanship (of papers for instance) the agony add is a gender specific bait, just as the page 3 girl which for decades has forced Sadik to be avid ready of British tabloids. (No, sorry, not Sadik, Abdulmote I meant!)

Jakaswanga, You are lucky that my trembling fingers enraged, struck a wrong key and the whole of my post got deleted by mistake I now find the labor of having to repeat all what I had written in anger to be too much to bear and I have therefore decided to leave you in peace! Otherwise I don't know what I could have said to you, for suggesting that I still behave like a deranged teen, who may get aroused by a page 3 of a printed human image which I am no longer curious about As an alternative I will say this; Juliana was a little bit naive; that was her first post and it may appear she wrongfully thought some Jukwaa members may benefit from the services of her miracle magician, who brought her man back in an instant! Was it an "agony aunt" kind of thing? Naaah. It was more like an advert, you know, here is the email address of mganga so and so, if you have lost your man and are in despair. But talking of agony aunt issue, I think that such is subject which is no longer confined to just women of ladies for that matter. I know and I have seen, there are men out there who need similar advice perhaps from agony uncle for that matter, more than the opposite sex when it comes to the pain of passion. I suppose Juliana57859 (these numbers remind me of adongo23456) should have presented her first post in a manner that members could have appreciated the experience that she went through and not simply give us a link to the mganga's email address! I am sure there are many interesting things Juliana could have written, which would have justified her post and more and that even without having to take a sip of your fav warigi!

I am female and post on Jukwaa every now and then. I am one of the wave of new members from last year.
On this board, I was horrifically attacked and abused by one Sadik (a member) who went on a sexually explicit tirade against me when I engage in debate with him.
NO ONE here rebuked him. NO ONE.
When a man can do that in the presence of other men and 'get away with it', then its off-putting to women. If you all want women to join in and post, then by all means make this a safe space for us.

Dineo, You have my sympathy and sincee apologies on behalf my fellow men if that is what you went through. Whilst I am not defending such a failure on our part, it is possible sometimes for tjose who care to miss such exchanges. Indeed that should not be allowed to pass unchallenged and without appropriate reprimand.
Having said that, i can promise that should happen to witness or come across such dusgusting behaviour, I will not hesitate to fight your corner with all thatcit takes to see that you are treated fairly. Thats a promise.
In the meantime, kindly continue to contribute your goid pieces whenever you feel like. The same goes for any other female member out there or indeed any gender who may feel untimidated by anyone here. I know and i am aware that Oloo feels the same.

Abdulmote,
Thank you. I am always reminded of Marcus Garvey's words "you never know who a man is until his back is against the wall". This phrase takes on so many meanings. For a man to sit and watch a woman be abused is terrible.

I saw both offending threads by different "authors" that OO deleted and came to the following conclusion. When OO "opened the floodgates" Jukwaa was inundated by a 'bot attack from India. The first thread about availability of quick loans was clearly Indian. The "Juliana" one also seemed to be Indian, hence references to Dr Ishvara & temples and the like. Otishotish's interaction with the second 'bot was hence a tad amusing as was Jakaswanga's lament when he saw a new "female" contributor to Jukwaa get muzzled like Kidero is trying to do to the Mutungaroo courts.
Maybe admin needs to install some kind of security fence a la Nkaissery to make sure the new members are human and not spam 'bots...

There are some female members on jukwaa but being a political forum and not a dating site gender is irrelevant, that said, I'd like to point out that this board is most active during elections, afterwards the constant "my side is better then your side" argument devoid of concrete issues or policies becomes not only tiresome but mind numbing, the ladies have probably been driven to lurker status. @ Dineo, chivalry died a long time ago, if you felt bullied you ought to have fought, clawed or bitten your way out of the corner(verbally of course) and if you are too much of a lady to brawl you ought to have sought the services of our gallant admin OO, never failed to rescue a damsel in distress. A quick note would have had the bully warned or guillotined:)
