The American President’s Speech
Before Obama left
Before he removed America from Kenya
To take the USA to Ethiopia
Barack Hussein Obama
The President of the father and mother
Of global capitalism and imperialism
Obama spoke to the youth and students of Kenya
Obama talked to the intellectuals of Kenya
at Kenyatta University
Before he was taken by the US Embassy
accompanied by American security organs
to a gathering organized by the American embassy
at the Kasarani Sports Complex
Obama met with members of civil society
Selected and approved by the United States
Funded by the imperialist countries
With a mandate of implementing US policies in Kenya
Neo colonial and capitalist policies
Imperialist policies
Using NGOs
Policies expounded and explained by Obama with his usual eloquence
With humility and gratitude
The political leaders of the so called “Opposition”
Told Obama
Pleading, complaining and whining to Obama
Boasting to Obama
Sycophantically praising Obama
Obama listened to them
Obama advised them
Obama gave pledges to them
Obama thanked them
But at the end
Obama blasted and berated them
Eventually the American President
Shepherded by officials from the US Embassy
Under the guidance and strict protection of the American police
Descended on Kasarani Stadium
With his puffed up imperialist chest
To give an oratory
To Kenyans who were carefully selected and hand picked
By the United States Embassy
Scrupulously screened by American security organs
President Uhuru Kenyatta
Together with members of his Kenyan cabinet and government officials
MPs and senators
Religious leaders and Kenyan capitalists
Prominent personalities
Entrepreneurs from around the world
Together with throngs of Kenyans in their thousands
Listened raptly to the American President’s speech
Courtesy of the invitation
From the US Embassy
They heard from the President of America
With Kenyan ethnic and cultural roots
Barack Hussein Obama
The first American President to tour Kenya
Delivered a speech to them
A speech about capitalism
As if Kenya needs capitalism
As if Kenya will be saved and liberated by capitalism
The women and youth assembled heard about the bourgeoisie
As if every Kenyan can become a capitalist
As if all Kenyan women emanate from a single class with a common interest
As if Kenyan youth are not divided in different classes
Obama spoke about nurturing employers
As if all ordinary Kenyans can be owners of capital and employers of labour
And Obama went on and on about providing assistance to business people
Forgetting it is simply impossible
For everyone to become a business woman or business man
Why didn’t Obama speak of the poor of Kenya and America
Why didn’t Obama speak of
the elements de classe and the lumpen proletariat in the slums
Of Kenya and America
Why did he not mention the exploited workers in Kenya and America
Or the poor peasants and squatters in Kenya and America
Amidst ululations and applause by the “invited Kenyans to Kenya”
Obama lectured Kenyans on democracy, equality and human rights
As if it is ever possible to have democracy, equality and human rights under capitalism
Obama reiterated the importance of transparency and accountability
In the fight against corruption
As if the Kenyan regime sees a need for transparency and accountability
As if the Kenyan political leadership
Have the intention or desire
Of rooting out the vice of graft in this country
He advised his audience on the importance
Of eradicating tribal politics in Kenya
As if there was anyone in that auditorium listening to him
Obama gave a speech
Obama lectured and hectored
Barack Obama gave a speech to people in their own homes
Obama spoke to the people of his father’s country
The President of America
Had a conversation with Africans
Obama is a very good man
But Kenyans will not be liberated by the goodness of Obama
Obama is a decent man
But which country has been liberated by the decency of imperialism
Obama is our brother, our son, our relative
But let us not forget that Obama is a patriotic citizen of the United States
And the President of America
Obama is an imperialist politician defending capitalist interests
Our relative Obama
Has work to do for his country-the United States
He was in Kenya for three days
America ruled Kenya over this past weekend
And today in the late afternoon
He bid us farewell
And ventured elsewhere in Africa
Before returning to his country
The United States of America
Leaving behind his memories
In Ethiopia and Kenya
Kenyans are breathing
A sigh of relief
At last Obama’s trip to Kenya is over
Kenya is back to normal
Kwaheri Obama
It is better we see each other again
After you retire from the Presidency.
