Kenyan Airport Reopens After Emergency Landing
NAIROBI, Oct 1 (Reuters) Kenya's main international airport was shut for several hours today while authorities removed a stricken cargo plane from the runway after it made an emergency landing.
The Cargolux Boeing 747 made landed early today at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Kate Kinui from the airport's information office said ''There is a plane which made an emergency landing and it became stuck. It didn't crash,'' Kinui said.
The airport was opened in the early afternoon once the jet was towed to a hangar. While the runway was blocked, flights were diverted to Mombasa, on Kenya's coast, and Entebbe, in Uganda.
The cause of the emergency landing was not clear. Cargolux was not immediately available for comment.
