Yeah, that was an amazing race by Bolt. But we all knew he was going to win, just didn't know he would break the world record into the bargain. I agree though that the 10000 women's race was better. I'm waiting for the 10,000m men's final tonight. I'm betting on our Rift Valley lads to run down those selfish Ethiopians again. It is true, they Ethiopians never do their part in setting the pace for the race, they let the Kenyans do all the hard work then wait to kick at the last lap, that's unsporting tactics. Also the 800m women's semi will be interesting to watch. Jepkosgei and Jelimo are gonna show the field dust, no doubt about that. Good to see Kiplagat, Okeyo and the rest of the idlers at Athletics Kenya are finally earning their keeping making that successful appeal for Jepkosgei after she was unfairly tripped by her opponent in the heats. Well, I was betting Usain would break the record after seeing him jog effortlessly at 9.8 or 9.9 something across the finish line, it turned out to be true. He hadnt run full throttle untill the finals. The womens 10,000M was the best race, since it was an upset of unheralded proportions. The Ethopian runners tactic of running just behind your shoulders is just plain annoying. I wouldnt characterize it as unsportsman like, its more of using the psychological edge and playing a lot of mental games. When someone is behind you like that, not only do you worry that you could be tripped up, thus expending mental energy worrying and physical energy trying to preclude a fall instead of just running, it ends up throwing you off you game plan. Its amazing the Kenyans havent found a counter for this brazen tactic that Gebresellasie used time and again! The Kenyans should think more and run less!

Give it up to Linet, folks, she was incredible in Berlin and more may come. This is grand. We are all very proud of her. And check the different shoe colours. My son noticed it and told me. I asked him if out of the whole race all he saw was the shoe colours (orange in one side and green on the other). He told me he wouldn't have noticed the shoes if she didn't win. Then I checked it again and thought this was quite funny. Here is Linet Masai just beating the hell out of the competition. www.nation.co.ke/sports/athletics/-/1100/641340/-/shd1joz/-/index.html

And this is what the little man does in summer as far as sports is concerned. They are pretty proud of themselves as champions in a major invitational in Ontario in 2009. ECAO by the way is Eritrean Community Association of Ontario. They have a soccer team for every age group but the under 12 are their best team and they have made it to the city league playing for ECAO Toronto Eagles. Here is one of there many websites. ecaosport.com/Rep-League.html

What happened this year to our young Kapsabet Express - Jelimo! It was disheartening to watch her drop off the 800m Semi's apparently in pain & burnt out.
Let us hope she comes back soon! I think at 19 years of age, she's one of Kenya's best chances to dominate an event in female track/athletics. She just needs to develop that talent and rule the 800m for a few years.
...and by the way - I didn't heck for a moment like the way that young & stoutish South African tripped Kenya's pretty Jepkosgei...then lied about being hurt.
I'm glad IAAF gave Jepkosgei a chance, but I think its going to be a tall order defending her title... she looked better in 2007.

tnk,
Wapi the link of the 800m women where Jepkosgei won Silver.
I understand there's a controversy over the sex/gender of the gold medal winner (18 year old from South Africa) and IAAF has ordered gynaecologic, endocrinologic & psychologic tests ?
Is this surely fair for an 18 year old whose family claims she was born, raised and socialised as a woman? Did IAAF simply look at her winning time and external body features to determine she warrants sex confirmation tests to prove she's biologically a woman? I foresee ethical and legal landmines.
Haya - toa maoni?

Surely she couldn't have conned the SAfricans too! Unlike the obvious underage Chinese gymnasts in olympics this inquiry is baseless! The former lady champ from Mozambique was quite muscular too but a bit more feminine. Semenya is a woman! I betcha!

Watch out for the man in future.

PM, Unajuaje? The athlete looks more of a man than a woman, but as they say, looks can deceive. Haya mambo bado. I think at this level of competition its unlikely Semenya would be a man. Maybe she has a small male appendage and incomplete female plumbing, lakini if she has enough female attributes and has grown up as one, yeye ni 'mischana'! You guys will have eggs on your faces when its verified yeye ni XX pekee! Here she is in her own words! ..."A day after winning her first 800 world title amid a gender-test controversy, 18-year-old Caster Semenya was unruffled by the dispute when she accepted gold medal on the podium, grinning and singing along with the South African anthem.
Her stunning improvement in times, muscular build and deep voice have raised questions if she is indeed competing as a woman.
"She said to me she doesn't see what the big deal is all about," South Africa team manager Phiwe Mlangeni-Tsholetsane said. "She believes it is God given talent and she will exercise it....."

Oh man now its time for Boxing!!!!!........ Floyd Mayweather Vs Juan Manuel Marquez.
Interesting mix of characters. Floyd I think is undefeated and coming out of retirement? His trainer is his dad Floyd Snr. The two have a 10 yr history during which THEY NEVER SPOKE, and snr, trained many fighters at championship level, the last one Hatton lost to Manny Pacman. Turns out that snr has a terminal lung disease, just like Pacmans trainer has Parkinson's disease! I was so gratified to find out that they are now a team
Marquez I dont know much about except that he is from Mehico, a boxer of repute, and his younger brother is a boxer too and guess what? these brothers have married sisters! Aint that cute?

Can't stand the Mayweather clan. Still I must concede he is one of the best (if not the best) P4P fighter. His time is coming (I've seen it all before) and someone will give him a beating one of these days (and I doubt it will be PacMan).

I have no problem with the Mayweather clan, Floyd jnr is simply one of the greatest boxers ever, still undefeated if I am correct. His dad is a very flamboyant guy, and he want likable when he trained Hatton against PacMan, but now he comes across as a sympathetic man. He has terminal lung disease and he has mellowed and reestablished his fatherly connection with his son to whom he had not spoken to for 10yrs. I found that story very compelling and humanizing.

I was listening to ESPN radio and one white guy started blasting Serena Williams eti, he thought the fact that she was a big huge girl threatening a white woman were grounds enough to punish her. Yaani her size alone was sufficient to have her condemned in the shouting fiasco, never mind that the line judge blew the call.
