PM, I'm with you on this one. Just have this funny feeling that Cotto will figure out Pacquiao. As for the 3 losses, the only significant one was the one to Erik Morales in 2005. The other two were to some obscure fighters in the Philiphines before he became the Manny we now know. Team Pacquiao.... www.nytimes.com/2009/11/13/sports/13pacquiao.html?hp

Oh dear, we got our ass kicked again. news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/africa/8359222.stmBut this was a good effort. We are getting there. I think I should be in South Africa to see this thing. Nigeria is in with Ghana and others. This is show time. My son has already packed his bags. I wish I could be in the same position. Long Live Harambee Stars!

Boxing history has been made right in front of my eyes.
{Not only did I watch this pay-per-view HBO event for free, but through a high def big screen. These savvy kids hooked the computer (free livestream) on the basement Tely and whoaaaa!!!! Wacha tu! }
My favourite for the fight, from the Phillipines, Manny 'Pacman' Paquiao destroyed Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto in a one sided fight stopped in the 12th round - via TKO.
Paquiao has now won WORLD BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS in SEVEN different divisions of Boxing, starting from FLYWEIGHT at 112 lbs, all the way to WELTERWEIGHT at 144 lbs.
He is definitely my best pound-to-pound fighter in the world, and also - very important - one of the all-time greatest boxing champions in any era, period!
Nimesema!

PM/Job, didn't watch the fight live (Online livestreaming is like playing whack-a-mole. They catch up with you real fast and before you know it is taken down. Also wifey wouldn't let me cough up the $55 for PPV - I don't blame her). Anyway it was a good win for the PacMan...doubted he would it but at the end I guess he's got more endurance and heart than Cotto. Don't know where he goes from here (PBF?). Though I know the result, I can't wait to watch the HBO re-broadcast....Btw, good effort by Harambee Stars (I really want the Pharaohs to qualify - unlike most African teams who field a bunch of Euro-based players, the Pharaohs field almost all local-based players which helps with their cohesion).

Kenyamoja,
Pacman BEAT UP Cotto thoroughly, trust me. You'll watch it. The guy has power, heart, and unmatched SPEED.
Cotto has power and a heart too, but he was dazzled, bamboozled and discombobulated. He ran away from fire the last few rounds, just trying to survive. Paquiao is a fast and mean machine, literally a dynamite.
Cotto's face was a pulp, with eyes like vikombes, and a face like a red pumpkin.
Livestreaming was perfect for us...with no interruption at all. PPV is not worth it in this era of the 'invisible Web'.
Like Adongo said, Harambee Stars did their best, I was happy with their performance despite the loss.
Kudos to Nigeria, alongside Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cameroon & host South Africa.
Egypt might square off with Algeria for the other spot.

Yea kenyamoja I did watch it in a bar that was initially very packed and noisy, but gradually became very quiet. Its a hispanic bar. I believe HBO will re-televise it sometime in the near future, they always do that, maybe next sato.
I had underestimated Mannys speed and his power and more importantly, the angles at which he throws his punches. Manny has heart too. I looked at how Cotto prepared himself Vs Manny and was impressed by the Cotto camp.
Give Cotto props, the guy has heart and he also left his imprints on Mannys face, something I hadnt seen before.
Now can Manny fight Mayweather? For 25M purse I think he will and what a fight that will be!!
AO/JOB We have a thread ya world cup pekee, dont feel shy about using it!

I just finished watching the replay of the Pacquiao vs. Cotto fight and it was definitely a one-sided affair. I wonder whether the inexperience of the Cotto camp played a role in the beatdown (there were no tactical adjustments as the fight progressed). Pacman vs. PBF Mayweather would be the fight of the year but I doubt the Mayweather camp would be willing to make it happen (Mayweather senior has already started claiming that Manny uses PEDs). For now Pacman is simply the best....

To them it was more of pumping up his spirits and telling him to move here and there. Dont be too pessimistic about the Mayweather fight, it may well happen I think money will speak.

Looks like Manny is okay with the contract pending some fine tuning. Odd makers are slightly favoring Mayweather already.... Really? And that may well happen, the best devastating boxer - offensively, is Manny but Mayweather has the the reputation as the best defensively.....what a atch 22!! Can Mayweather take a punch? Thats the big questions! Start saving 10bucks a month for the PPV!! (unless Job gives us a hook up!)

Don't know what to make of this PED testing issue, but it seems to me like both sides are stalling. Particulary surprised by the Manny camp insistance on using the NFL/NBA/NHL testing and not the Olympic/WADA testing. Everyone knows that the Olympic/WADA testing is the most complete and the toughest to get away with...anyway it may end up being much ado about nothing and just the usual posturing by two very good fighters.

@pm, what is your take on this Manny/Mayweather testing saga? I am disappointed that of the Ms, Manny, Mayweather, Mosely, we arent getting Manny fight either of the two Black guys, but instead the two Black guys are planning to box each other - May 1st! Thats a big let down its not a fight I really want to see, and I probably wont go out of my way to see it, just like I dont wanna see Manny and Clottey duke it out. Clottey has never impressed me that much. Manny seems to be ducking the bigger Mayweather, and Manny is mow playing mid games. How can he, with a straight face, claim that a few CCs of blood drawn a fortnight to the bout will be detrimental to his training? He has at least 6 Litres of blood and the test needs say 10CCs! (or 15CC max! for the A and B samples!)

PM / KenyamojaThere's a test coming up this week for packman: How good is Clottey? How do you guys rate him against Packman? 7th round knockout? Whats the cost of an olympic blood/drug test? (wink wink) Sample this:

PM / KenyamojaThere's a test coming up this week for packman: How good is Clottey? How do you guys rate him against Packman? 7th round knockout? Whats the cost of an olympic blood/drug test? (wink wink) Sample this: Clottey was once a very good fighter (championship fighter to be exact). He got robbed in the fight that would have made him the man to beat - the Cotto fight. I don't know whether he has it in him to beat PacMan after that. Physically I think the can match up with him but I also think he is on the downside of his career. My prediction - PacMan by unanimous decision (yes I think this fight will go the distance).
