Hundreds of people are thought to be missing after a ferry sunk off the coast of Zanzibar with some 600 people onboard. About 380 people are believed to be missing, local officials say. At least 220 are reported to have been rescued, they say. One survivor said the ferry, MV Spice Islanders, was heavily overloaded and sank in an area with heavy currents in deep sea between mainland Tanzania and Pemba Island early on Saturday. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-14864400

Impunity eats us from inside and outside. In the early 90's this was Mtongwe. Hundreds dead in the waters due to overloading. Even with that, overloading in East Africa's waters did not stop. That's impunity. Here we are again. MV Mtongwe all over again. And the air is full of fresh cries. Tomorrow is another day, and ferries will be at work.
