I was driving down Valley road when LO and Behold, I felt some rattle the vehicle's locomotion. Easing my way to the side exit, I opened the door just to step out onto a mild earth tremor tremor. Asking whether what I was experiencing was real, I was told it was. The Cause? MM's earthshaking announcement that he had shifted to UDFP, eliciting awe from everyone and everything around. It was so earthshaking that the expression ]"Where were you when........? OR What were you doing when....? has acquired fresh impetus in our country's politics.
As for me, I was peacefully driving down Valley Road when it happened? How about you?

Is this the same fella who claimed ODM lacks internal democracy? So how does he just land automatic nomination at the so called UDFP? How soon lest he forget ODM remade him anyway? If he is worth a dime why cant he resign the DPM position since he deputises the same Raila he castigates! lame hypocrisy.

MM
Did the right thing, he was going to be dropped soon or later, when it comes for Vice President selection.

Kamikaze suicidal political mission Hannali,Completely agree. Here is what I have blogged about it in DPM Musalia Mudavadi Has Once Again Defied Common Sense and Prevailing Wisdom: Here are a few things we know about Deputy Prime Minister and M.P. for Sabatia, Hon. Musalia Mudavadi: First, he is not a self-made man. We are not here talking about not being a self-made man for merely being born to privilege; far from it. Many examples abound of men who qualify for that classification even though born to privilege and you would have to look no further than Raila to when counting them. Why is being a self-made man important, one may ask; there is something admirable about being one. Whether in business or in government, a self-made man reassures those he leads he has been there and understands their needs and knows what needs to be done to meet them or to have them excel in their endeavors. But, more importantly, a self-made man he gives those he leads hope that they, too, can make it by working as hard as he has and that, conversely, he has not made it to where he is by accident or will not take it for granted how he got there. Otherwise, you are simply dealing with those it’s said were born with a silver spoon in their mouths and wander through life without ever having a clue what an ordinary person’s life is like or what sacrifice means or even what can be done to make the lives of the ordinary folk better. By this measure, Mudavadi is not a self-made man. That does not mean he could not have become one through his life to date. Having succeeded his late father and Moi confidant Moses Mudamba Mudavadi as M.P. for Sabatia, Moi made Mudavadi our country’s youngest minister at age 39. This would have been an ideal opportunity to break from his comfy background and be his own man, let alone a self-made one. Unfortunately, however, most people would remember Mudavadi for his 6-weeks stint as VP and serving as Uhuru project running mate in 2002 than anything he ever did as minister. Third, if Mudavadi did not distinguish himself as minister, he has done no better as DPM even though compared to his colleague Uhuru, one would have to toss a coin as to which one has been worse than the other. I have previously noted that a compelling case can be made that Mudavadi has, in fact, performed better than Uhuru as DPM but that is just what that was: noting that a compelling case can be made, not that it is made. Fourth, as noted above, Mudavadi holds the dubious record of being the shortest serving Vice-President of the Republic of Kenya, a position he accepted without shame because he and a handful of other Kenyans led by former president Daniel Arap Moi actually believed that Moi would succeed in shoving Uhuru down our throats as Moi’s successor back in 2002. In a resounding no vote, Kenyans rejected the Uhuru project and enthusiastically embraced and voted for Kibaki with the blessing of Raila with his “Kibaki Tosha” declaration at Uhuru Park which propelled Kibaki to State House as our Third President. Mudavadi defied common sense and all prevailing wisdom at that time in allowing Moi to use him in the manner he did and to be fair to him, many a politician driven by unchecked ambition would have succumbed to Moi’s antics in the same fashion. Mudavadi and Uhuru having been beaten down to the pulp in the 2002 run-in with Kibaki, Raila and Co., he was basically left for the political dead. Obviously and without any doubt having noticed which direction the wind was blowing, Mudavadi wised up and joined the Orange Democratic Movement led by Raila who basically used his influence to have Mudavadi made his running mate for the 2007 elections. The rest, as they say, is history. Except Mudavadi out of the blue decided early this year to re-write part of that history by demanding that he must be allowed to challenge Raila for the ODM nomination in the name of “internal democracy.” Given the development of events since Mudavadi made public his quest, it is obvious this has had nothing to do with “internal democracy” but the execution of a poorly designed plan to position Mudavadi as yet another project and unbelievably involving none other than Uhuru Kenyatta himself. To be sure, there were those saying and even providing historical reasons why Mudavadi is another Moi project but it matters less which project he is because he is clearly someone’s project. This is because if his ambition was simply to become president as his own man, he would have duked it out with Raila for the nomination and even if he were not to succeed, he still could run as an independent if he believed he has the masses behind him. The latest poll show Mudavadi polling at about 5% of the national vote. The climb from there to garnering even another 5% to max out at 10% is monumental and it doesn’t matter how much money is to be poured as it shall for the saying puts it well: Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Moi made a spirited effort and fooled those who voted for UK and Mudavadi in 2002. When Mudavadi presented himself as one who had learned his lesson from the whopping in 2002 along with UK and more importantly upon Raila resurrecting him from the dead and brought him under his wings, Kenyans gave the duo the nod only to be denied the full prize by Kibaki and Co. Mudavadi wisely went silent, enjoying what little perks and privileges he would as DPM and all would have been good for him but for his sudden change in course and demanding topple the very man who resurrected him from the dead. If this is how Mudavadi thanks those who do him favors, then he has a thing or two to learn about life. Once he does that, and he ever succeeds again politically, he would have earned himself the adoration a “self-made man.” Until then, Mudavadi shall remain a living proof of how not conduct oneself politically and that defying common sense and prevailing wisdom has its price and twice as much if that is the second time one does so. That is why many will today cheer Mudavadi in his claims to presidency and completely forget that the same man was embroiled in Goldenberg and even more recently in the cemetery saga. These are the same Kenyans who queued to get an autograph from Pattni as well as fill his church oblivious of his rape of the Kenyan economy. They are the same Kenyans that called Raila "njamba" but cannot stand the man! Listen up...Mudavadi will make his claim to presidency as will that other fellow called Raila and non of them will be president! At least Mudavadi is in the group that would be happy Raila failing to be president if that also meant they did not become president!

No prizes for guessing! Let's give the man a break for heaven's sake. If he's on a Kamikaza mission as someone put it elsewhere, then so be it- that's his democratic right and Raila stressed the same today on his return from US. In the man's view, at least he now stands a chance but time will tell. The general election is still far away yet some people are dancing themselves lame before the main event.

It’s interesting to see people’s heads stuck up in I don’t know where, that Raila will not be president (and now Mudavadi is also included). This was what was said prior to 2007. Then, according to the same prophets of doom, Raila did not even have a remote chance. As we all know he won the elections clean and square only to be rigged out. So write Raila off at your own peril.
The prophets of doom have written off Raila so many times and they have thrown every huddle along his path in the hope that he will simply quit fighting and run away like a coward. He has confounded his enemies by constantly reinventing himself and moving on. There is nothing to suggest that this won’t be the case this time around.
If ODM were to die as a party, as some people wish, then it would have been when Ruto walked away will 80% of kalenjin MPS. But interestingly the party remains strong and still stands. It is the party which most people from former RVP still feel closet to. Mudavadi has walked away with only and handful of ODM MPs. This does not look good for him given that he considers himself king of Western Province. The other reason that should worry Mudavadi is the fact that there are too many parties in former WEP all looking forward to fielding a presidential candidate. I’m sure that people such as Wetangula and Wamalwa won’t give way to Mudavadi.

Mzee Unfortunately Raila gets written off so many times for his has never achieved anything close to being president - always playing second fiddle. You can repeat it a thousand times that he won in 2007 - but as you know that did not make him president, so just drop that and move on. For those of us that have written him off ever being president, equally let us be in as much we let you be with your mistaken belief that you are headed for the final victory. It ain't gonna happen and in the unlikely event it does, you will be whipping us like little boys and we will have deserved it!

Kamale, Did you also not say that he was never going to be a PM because that was getting power through the back door?
At least I know that RAO is going to be president. Please tell me who will become president if RAO does not? Just remmember that you have also written off Mudavadi. I will be waiting to hear from you.

Mr. Kamlet..... Nobody is stuck in the past, but it is important to note that nowadays you cant get a job without a good CV . Did MM ever have one? Do Uhuruto & co have any CVs, to present to Kenyans ? Idon't think so, A a day in politics can be equated to a normal citizen's life time. Cheer leaders who were routing for ODM'S death as a party & RAO as a spent force & MM as the messiah ,mr. fix RAO are already not only loosing faith in the guy actually dumping him . What a surprise?

Mangai If it were CVs that we use to get our leaders, none of the lot trotting around the country seeking our votes would actually fit the bill....and that includes your RAO. They are all a bunch thieving liars, but as Kenyans we are so used to mediocrity, we will have one of them inaugrated as our president sometime in May next year. We shall mourn for 5 years and repeat the same mistake. Cheer up!

Kamale,Did you also not say that he was never going to be a PM because that was getting power through the back door? At least I know that RAO is going to be president. Please tell me who will become president if RAO does not? Just remmember that you have also written off Mudavadi. I will be waiting to hear from you. whip me....please whip me if I was that wrong! You know my record here in Jukwaa am surprised you have not started ignoring me like the others ;D Im not going to whip you. No need to do it here. Better wait for the polls. Anyways, why did you just dance around my question like a jajuok (night runner)?.

If it is....I have my preference, but he will not make president so I will allow Kenyans to wallow in the mediocrity of the next leader who as I said will not be Raila!

My bet is on the lesser evil RAO now that you have come to terms that even your preferred choice is not fit to be our president.

Kamale, I will understand if you say you don't know. But dismissing everybody is just silly because somebody has to be president even if its Mr. Ndile.

Kamalet actually has a choice! You just seem to be against everything but the status quo when it suits your argument...if we assume this ideal candidate of yours is Njuguna the one legged lawyer who has an office on Moi avenue and has all the attributes to be PORK (It surely can't be Martha) we can safely assume his best chance will be in 2023 when he is 75...
I get the fact that this site needs your contrary viewpoint but your gusto is almost pathological because you don't even seem to try to be controversial it’s just in you...do you perhaps have a candle lit shrine in your house with old jukwaa threads stuck on the wall where you go every night to chant repeatedly I was right! They have no clue! Raila will never be president!
You are like the ManU fan with the most posts on an Arsenal board...you are in it just for the irritation & the morbid appeal at a fellow mans misery...at least with the ManU fan it’s just sports yours is life...
I'm not attempting to ridicule you because I know you will love it...it’s just that its best you stay true to form...you actually have some great gems in the archives...just don't pretend to stand for anything or anyone...

That was quite a psycoanalysis of Kamalet. If you are not into this business, I would suggest you keep your day job!
